In the 1930s, people would pack stadiums and theaters to watch men grapple for up to 2 hours. Not pro wrestling in it's current incarnation, but closer to Greco-Roman style grappling. It was what people wanted to see at that point in time. Pro wrestling, at its core, always has a place in entertainment for society, and though the presentation of the product changes, at its heart, actual wrestling, by real professionals, will always be in demand by the paying public.

Bryan wants exactly what Jericho wanted when he first decided to sign with AEW. It’s also the authenticity of the pro sport of Wrestling and how it should be done. That’s what Bryan wants as well as the rest. Not having scripted promos with little realness also begging to be brought up for TV time. Tony allows the creative artistic side to come out of people and you can feel it when you watch it!! That makes it the best!! WWE will never compete with that.

Punk on the other hand, also said that he is a straight edge but he actually is someone who wants everything ready for him, he didn't want to join AEW Earlier when there was no Pandemic and he was offered, he joined pretty much later for his kinda money and full creative control and wanna poke in the business as well.

Regardless of how you feel about AEW as a company or overall product, you can't possibly deny that they're really starting to make waves now that they have just signed both CM Punk and Bryan Danielson, who were both major stars in WWE as well as the hottest free agent at the moment in Adam Cole and they're better off for it because by doing this, they're firmly establishing themselves as a serious and legitimate alternative to WWE that we haven't seen even since TNA's best years and more so since WCW went out of business. Punk alone drew more attention to them even with the numerous weeks of rumors and subtle teases and he practically broke the internet with his debut and has subsequently been a huge hit for them already as all the numbers have proven, so they're doing something right. The crowds are really helping that as well because their reactions since the return to touring have made all these moments memorable and AEW have mostly knocked it out of the park every time so far with these debuts even when they're expected or in Minoru Suzuki's case where there were literally no hints even from him whatsoever that he was gonna show up last night (although they never really got to finish their feud in New Japan before the pandemic got really bad, so it does make sense as to why they're going this route). A lot of that has to do with what they get when they buy a ticket because their crowds have been so invested in just about everything so far which is more than I can say for WWE aside from certain moments during their shows, so again, whether you think they're just catering to what the hardcore fans want or not, they are doing something right because if you give the crowds what they want like with Punk and Danielson debuting for the company, you'll keep them invested at least for the important stuff and that's what they've been doing to great effect.

When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that the most important thing in life is to be happy. When I went to school, I was asked what I want to become when I grow up. I wrote "happy". They told me - "you did not understand the task", and I answered - "you did not understand life."
