- Today AD is welcomed to Montecito by Gwyneth Paltrow for a tour of her peacefully luxurious family home. Paltrow first fell under the spell of Montecito during her two semesters at UC Santa Barbara and deemed it to be the perfect setting to fulfill the dream of building her first ground-up house. To tackle the assignment, Paltrow tapped her longtime collaborators Robin Standefer and Stephen Alesch of Roman and Williams, the AD100 firm that had previously designed the actress’s Tribeca loft. She eventually called upon AD100 designer Brigette Romanek, a close friend of more than two decades, to join the adventure as well. “A home should reflect the physicality and ethos of its owner, and this house takes its cues from Gwyneth’s height, beauty, and focus on distillation" says Standefer. “The house is built around extremely precise, thoughtful spaces that we refined again and again for years.”

So Sweet, and I also noticed that these prosperous and famous women these days are the Complete Package, they all Cook for their Children, like Jessica Alba, Gwyneth Paltrow, Meghan Markle, Singer Pink, etc....Most of these women are famous, but they are hands-On with their families, they don't leave the Care of their Children and husbands to a third party, and I think that's Cool.

I feel like her parents did a really good job keeping her grounded. Obviously she grew up privileged and wealthy and she's been super successful in her own right, but she always comes across in a real down-to-earth way. I believe her when she says she cooks for her kids.

@K V Wow seriously? She is a highly acclaimed actor! She has won an Oscar, a Golden Globe, an Emmy and 2 SAG Awards! And twice as many nominations, even a Grammy. It doesn't get much more successful than that in entertainment. She also has a very successful wellness/lifestyle business called GOOP. And in my opinion, she's truly a decent, humble human being.

Oh my gosh this home is a dream. I’m so inspired by it. She truly has an amazing eye and even though it was more of a team effort, she definitely knew who to work with. Not every upscale designer can do what has been done here. This was a soul treat, thank you AD!

This house is flawless, classic, absolute exquisite perfection to my heart. You can see it expresses her, it's a manifestation of her vision, of her spirit. Everything is sheer beauty, as if drawing its form from light. How I wish I can have something equally inspiring as my own!

I guess you are making a slight as well as a compliment? I have never heard a disparaging word about her from the people who actually know her. Unlike many offspring born into wealth and opportunity she has always expressed an honest awe about her loving family and her exceptional good luck. I don't know what type of person GP is but I miss her acting. She is enormously talented and missed by this film goer.

It strikes me just how timeless all of the elements of this home are. The warm neutrals, stone, texture.. they feel very grounded and humble.

I love that she thoughtfully integrated and repurposed old elements like the Portugese tiles and the fireplace in the entry way. They are very wabi sabi in a sense that old products are still appreciated today, in an apparent modern setting but also timeless at the same time.

I wish we got to see some of the bedrooms as well. This house is exquisite, the decor is seductive yet approachable and it does feel like a forever home. And yes, props to GP for giving such props to the team that worked with and for her to achieve this - she's always been classy like that.

I am in love with this home. It has a perfect mix of old world and modern in such an easy, relaxing way. Nothing is jarring and in your face. Everything just blends like it was meant to be there. I am dying to know how much a spa like that costs. Whatever it was, it's money well-spent as I too would use that everyday. It's absolutely gorgeous. If I had the money I would copy everything; but until then I will just have to be inspired. Well done.
She's so generous to acknowledge the accomplishments of her friends and the designers and architects. I'm sure they're grateful for the endorsements. This is a warm and welcoming house. I would love to be her friend and be able to hang out with her on a weekend in this beautiful space. ❤️

This home is absolutely beautiful. I love the different textures and themes that all work together. I also love that she uses different flooring for each room, for the reason she mentioned. The spa does look like heaven on earth! I wish we could have seen the entire house but, of course, I respect her obvious preference for privacy. I also love what Gwyneth is wearing in this tour - elegant and chic, just like the house.

I love her kitchen and the way it opens to the rest of the house. That's such a good idea to have the stove in the middle, so you aren't facing the wall. Absolutely adore the fuzzy couch and giant swing too! I can't imagine having a spa in your own home; I'd be in there daily!

This was more than what I expected from Gwyneth. I know she's all about her wellness brand, but it quite fitting to see she walks the talk. Her home is as unique as herself without someone else's take & design concept incorporated into the home.
Yes, I agree with you. I love that she even talks about initially disliking certain design pieces, but coming to a place of agreement with them. I have seen many designers come to design for a home and I hate their style and how I feel they misrepresented their clients wishes. I love how this is a design collaboration. She respects and appreciates their talent, but she doesn't lose herself in the mix. She even gets some of her ideas from pinterest like many of us do. The designers just enhance what she already has dreamed of.
If I was ever fortunate enough to work with designers, I would be looking for someone who worked with me in the process. I would want to be included in the process and based on my own creative designs. I would certainly, like Gwyneth, appreciate what their talents brought to the table. However, I would never want someone taking over like I sometimes see on tv.

This is my dream home. The kitchen, the spa and the outside expansiveness (as seen through the kitchen window) were everything. I wish she'd shown the bedrooms. I love that she and her best friend worked together on the furnishings. That must have been so much fun.

A surprisingly down to earth home. She's so thoughtful with he intentions. Not at all what I was expecting from the Goop founder. This is one of those pleasant surprises that life sometimes gives you on a Tuesday afternoon.

I agree with the intentional decision about where to place the STOVE with a view of everyone you cook for and who can watch the cooking (another skill to pass on to children) - the FIRE of the home (5 elements of Nature) is critical to being able to connect with every member's passions since we can share a discussion while cooking - REMEMBER without food no one survives...without enjoying your food or maybe appreciating how it is cooked (& who is cooking - my family-owned restaurants).
(I placed ours on a peninsula since there wasn't room in our renovation to have an island.)

This is my most favorite house I’ve ever seen in my 53 years! My house is actually probably larger than this home (or at least the rooms I saw are smaller) but I would definitely give it up! Lol. I wouldn’t even HAVE to have the spa room. But the kitchen, the dining, the entry…. My goodness ! #goals. My house is similar to a chalet but in the woods. I wonder if I could do that kitchen…… (I would have a MUCH smaller budget!!) but it’s worth thinking about!!!!!

I just finished an assignment on research of Designers I find expressing my own design style.. one of the designers was an architectural and design company named Roman and Williams. Watching this video I find out that this is one of their designs, specifically one I referenced in my assignment. Now to find out its Gwyneth Paltrow's, amazing.

I don't know much about her as a person. Although, I'm sure you can find specific examples of personal beefs and gaffs surrounding her. The thing that bothers me about her is that she sell and promotes some things that have no benefit, even some that are proven detrimental to the health of women. She has made a brand out of it and has profited greatly from that. At least her cooch smells good from squatting on all that potpourri, right?

Your House is so, so lovely. I love all the different floors in each room, the light accents that are futuristic or traditional and even your living room lights that steals the room. The clean , pure , fresh look when you walk into the house also adds a warm accent with the fireplace. Uniquely, I love your idea where you’ve placed the stove in the not so , center of the kitchen where you can engage in communication. Oh and can I say, I love your plate wall idea , the handmade tiles. You inspire me and I looked up to you growing up. I’ve always looked up to you in all angles of your life. Its just stunning and well thought out. I appreciated the tile in the kitchen, the ladder and the stove facing the people you want to converse with while cooking. But the insane crazy awesome was the wellness spa room thing. OMG.

@@AFoodReview , I do have a cute Petite Maison but I need a new kitchen, bathroom and other money costing items. I am flying solo, so it's wise to pick and choose, things or adventure in life.
@@anitarodriguez-rudell2211 obviously plumbing and appliances but, you can make your kitchen look drastically with just a a new coat of paint, peel and stick flouring or backsplash, new shades in windows(tons of diy videos on how to save money on curtains). Also if you need a new fridge for instance, sometimes you can get the floor model for WAY less. Just ask around in different if its an option. Sears was great for this before they want under. I would try other big department stored like jc Penney.
You can tell how she values the people around her. She really seems like a very down to earth and kind person. Her affluence is evident but not loud. I don't agree with how the media is playing her personality as cold snob and aloof. She cooks a lot she loves to entertain friends and family and that's more important than the glitz and glamour of show business. It's obvious how she values everyone around her.
I absolutely LOVE her kitchen! It looks really homey. The plate wall is also beautiful and just warms up the room even more. I'm not into modern decor so the living room wasn't my taste. It was beautiful in it's own way. I just wouldn't choose it for my home. That spa! Holy Toledo!! Not sure why it's quite that large but I sure wouldn't complain if it were mine!
