    Please STOP selling clothing with just Level 1 microlock protection without an option to upgrade to Level 2 during purchase. I had to upgrade a bunch of my armour to Level 2 and now I just have a bunch of useless Level 1 armour sitting at home which will eventually end up in a landfill site. Give us the option to choose armour level during purchase of our gear.

    • @Geshmaal
      @Geshmaal Год назад +12

      Or just include level 2 by default and charge a bit more. It's not like Knox gear is cheap, it may as well meet the higher standard. Lots of riders will want to upgrade to level 2 armour if gear comes with level 1, few will want to downgrade from level 2 to level 1. Less wasteful all round and makes Knox gear a higher standard!

    • @KnoxArmour
      @KnoxArmour  Год назад +14

      In all cases, Knox level 1 armour exceeds the requirements by a fair margin. Level 1 armour works from a design and ergonomic perspective better than level 2 armour in some cases, which is why we make that decision. In the case of the Action Pro shirt for example, level 1 (our lightest and thinnest armour) fits the application perfectly. With the Urbane Pro MK3, we have been able to improve the spec to Level 2 armour which works now very well without compromising the comfort and flexibility of the shirt.
      In the case of being able to opt for a higher level at the point of purchasing, it is difficult to do that from a CE approval and certification point of view, and also for Knox stockists around the world who wouldn't be able to customise a finished garment at the point a customer orders one. Hope that makes sense? Aaron KNOX

      @@KnoxArmour you answered as someone from marketing / design dept would. but from the safety standpoint we want level 2 or nothing and that´s it. If you exceed lvl 1 requirements, fine, but we don´t know and cannot know by how much and how close are you to lvl 2. For me it´s binary: lvl 2 or nothing. (so yes, lvl 1s lying around, no use for them)
      Guys above are right. Please listen. Cheers!

    I've had the knox trekker rucksack for four years now and it's been my work commute backpack. It's so good, I use it even when I'm not riding. It's kept my laptop and work related gear dry and clean. It's also gotten comments on how nice of a backpack it is, since it doesn't look like the usual student backpack many people use. Daily commuting with this pack has been so good. I've never had ANY backpack last so long and show so little sign of wear and tear.

    If you're gonna get a glove, definitely get one with Knox SPS. I lowsided once and definitely felt the impact on my elbow (some off-brand CE level 1 that came with my jacket) but I didn't even notice that I had impacted my L wrist until I saw that the plastic portion of SPS was scraped. Absolutely worth it and will always stand by it.

    I will say, that I have been on the sideline watching for a few year…. Overall, I am a big fan of a modular clothing system as opposed to buying multiple high priced items that can only be worn during certain seasons or riding scenarios… this is especially true on longer trips where one is likely to encounter a variety of weather conditions (hot/cold/dry/wet). This fall I will be adding a Urbane Mk3 pro to my kit to see how your gear actually performs. Great video!

    I'm a big supporter of british brands and Knox, I really like your products. But I find myself buying Held gloves because they offer allot of variations in fit. With a wide selection of their gloves you can choose the palm size separately from the finger length, to a close fit. It would be brilliant if you could offer somthing similar with your handriod models. I'm not even embarrassed to ask for a womens sizing of handroids, that would be just as good.

    I firmly believe that giving feedback is a good thing, but I'm aware that on social media it can look like criticism and might put some people off buying. Please, if you're a potential buyer know that Knox gear is some of the best around, these are just my thoughts on how to make it even better.
    I own an Urbane Pro Mk2 and two pairs each of the Mk1 and Mk2 Richmond jeans. All are excellent quality products, manufactured to the highest quality, packaged beautifully - the Urbane Pro came with a beautiful laminated plywood coat hanger, so good that I want to replace every single one in my wardrobe with Knox coat hangers - and sized with accuracy.
    The Richmond jeans are possibly the most comfortable jeans I've ever owned, I'm wearing them now, it's 7:15 and I've no intention of going riding today, they are that good, they've become my daily wear. None of the jeans have gone baggy anywhere as they have huge amounts of stretch, which makes them super comfy both on and off the bike.
    The Urbane Pro is great for summer days, the amount of air that can move through it is fantastic, even when stuck in central London's traffic I still feel as cooled as is possible on a motorbike. Being a middle aged man I've spread slightly, so the snug fit of the riding shirt was initially slightly odd - I wish you guys would start at XXS and go up, having to buy 4XL to fit round my 44 inch chest did dent the ego slightly - but the benefit is that the riding shirt keeps everything in, my wife calls it my biker's corset. Aware of the amount of mesh, and the nipple visibility I tend to throw a loose fitting cotton shirt over the top on hot days and ride round smug in the fact I'm protected without stewing in my own juices.
    Now the negative.
    For jeans I'm a 29" leg, short to the knee and longer below. This always makes buying riding pants difficult as the knee protection tends to be in the wrong place, and sadly the Richmonds are no exception. That said, they get closest to the knee than anything else I've worn, and a little pull up on the fabric once I'm on the bike gets this comfy. I just wish they came in more leg lengths.
    The Urbane Pro likewise has a bit of a sizing issue. I'm 5'8" so slightly below average, but not at the extremes of sizing, but have a real problem with the length of the back protector catching on the waistband of my jeans, if it were a little longer it would go over the top of the jean, a little shorter and it would sit above them. As it is, it gets pushed up by jeans and being a tight fit this means the fabric starts digging in under the arms. It's sufficiently annoying that I've abandoned the back protector altogether. Is it possible to make your riding shirts in different back lengths to get round this issue? Maybe I'm the only one?
    None of these points are to do with quality, nor specific to Knox, I've struggled just as hard with other brands, they're perhaps highlighted by the way the Seasonless Collection is designed to work by fitting closer to the body, they're just the sizing issues of a slightly shorter, slightly rounder middle aged bloke.
    Which brings me onto perhaps my biggest issue with the Seasonless concept and why I don't own a Knox outer.
    Like probably every other biker, I have a style. I own a Triumph Scrambler 900, live in London, regularly ride to the Bike Shed and buy 95% of my gear from Urban Rider. Yes I have a beard, and I've even been known to oil it. Feel free to call me a hipster, I'll just splutter into my oat milk latte over here in the corner. I also really like the concept of the Seasonless Collection, and can see the benefits of having layers each of which can be worn on their own. I especially like the idea of the inner quilted jacket working on its own, it's the perfect thing to wear round a fire of an evening for the weekends I break out of London and go camping with my riding mates.
    So why haven't I bought the shell layer? Because it doesn't really have a style. For me the Knox Dual Pro, has more than a hint of walking jacket to it, something I'd expect to find in an Ambleside outdoor shop rather than my local motorcycle gear dealer.
    And that's such a pity, because the versatility of the Knox Seasonless concept means the outer shell doesn't have to serve the double duty of protecting us both from the road and the elements, so making different styles of outerwear that fit perfectly over the inner protective layer should be easy, whether that's the multiple patches of the average ADV jacket, something in denim for those who like to double up, a great check overshirt for when I'm feeling particularly hip or the waxed cotton and bellows pockets of my beloved Barbour International. All these styles should be perfectly possible with the Seasonless concept and while they're all possible if I source from outside the Knox brand none of them quite fit as well together as your own Dual Pro shell layer designed as it is to go over the extra lumps, bumps of the protective armour I'm wearing underneath.
    Please above all, don't take this as a negative, I love all the gear you make, the passion with which you make it, the insight into the why and how films like this give us and the customer service you provide, I had a wonderful chat with Jenny when I rang about washing powder, I ended feel like I'd spent 20 minutes chatting to an old friend.
    Long may Knox continue to grow, to innovate and to protect. If you need a product tester for the 2024 hipster range do let me know 😉

    Has anyone a report of actually "touring" using the seasonless system? Is it more suited to short commuting, and day rides, than a multi-week tour? The concept sounds good, but in practice how is it dealing with layers, during long rides? Compared to a well vented laminated jacket for instance? Do you feel the Dual Pro Jacket needs some vents to allow a little airflow, for comfort on long rides, if the temperatures are not warm enough to wear just the Urbane without the shells?

    I think you guys really strayed off path for your latest collection and actually did things a lot more traditionally than you claim at the start of your video. For example, part of your core philosophy was always to keep the armour as close to the body as possible in a tight fitting next to skin garment, so that, in a crash it doesn't move around. This is why you initially brought out things like your armoured shirts and then later converged towards the armoured and abrasion resistant underlayers (action pro series). So, it makes absolutely no sense why you wouldn't build on from that and develop AA and AAA versions of the action pro underlayers. Such garments would have been tremendously popular because they keep the armour fixed in place, provide the abrasion resistance, all while allowing the customer to wear what they want over the top - rather than being tied down to a specific style of a single garment. Instead, you brought out a AAA tracksuit (more traditional outer garments) that don't look good in all honesty. Why would you do this instead of bringing out AAA underlayers that allow the customer to choose the fashion tracksuit that they want to wear?
    Fashion or more specifically tech fashion is an extremely complex niche to get into - this is probably why you should have left it to the Nikes of the world, and instead focussed on allowing users to wear what they want on the bike.

      I agree, except I don’t find that track suit ugly. I find the nike clothing hideous, even their Nike logo is hideous, far too bold, just like their overconfident basketball and football players and gluttonous American folks that drive f150’s to their office desk jobs. Their influence on clothing has been terrible.

    Why make a "motorcycle" backpack, but have zero reflectivity on it? Seems like a huge oversite.

    Knox Handroids fell apart after a year, same with my knox urbane pro short gloves. Lifetime Warranty? Or 5 Year warranty advertised? Don't bother, I work in the motorcycle industry and the customer support is terrible and not backed.

    LOL "not following others". Your soft and thin protections are just a copy of D3O ones, they are the one who revolutionized the market.

    I have a Knox shirt size Large. Beware of Knox sizing; it is an honest Small. Its unwearable.
