I was born in Benham in 1943 and moved to Michigan in 1949 because my parents were looking for work in the auto industry. My Dad died of Black Lung disease after so many years in the mines. I am still proud to be a coal miners daughter.
My mother was born in Lynch in 1946. I have family all over the Cumberland Gap area. Mom's getting a huge kick out of all these videos. Me too. We plan on visiitng the area this summer. Thank you to you and Mrs. Coyote!

Another great video. Good people all over Harlan county. Those areas there boomed as big as any at one time. Lynch had some real football teams under Ed Miracle.
My great grandparents were born and raised in Lynch. My grandparents were also from Harlan county. I’m not sure there is a more beautiful place on the planet than that area. The area has an amazing history and Lynch in particular. It’s definitely worth exploring. Also Lamp House coal miners blend coffee is amazing. Support that community and order a bag online.
