The little brown church that you passed after leaving Totz was Dione Baptist Church in the Dione community. That was my mom's home church growing up. My grandparents house was across the valley from the church. Her maiden name is Lewis.
Prayers for PaPa...my grandfather had black lung...🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 We have a RV park in Talladega County Al called Kudzu RV park. They come but can never leave. 😱 Kudzu takes over RV and can never get out...😂😂😂😂😂😂 Wow that was a cool cave on side of the road. Really massive! The Group Alabama are my neighbors. I am 20 min ride from Ft. Payne Al. I remember seeing them before they were called Alabama back when they were Wild Country. They were playing at the Eleventh Frame in Sylacauga Al. The skating rink was connected to the bar and I went in the bar to get my momma, sisters and brother in laws because the skating rink was closing. I love every song these wonderful Bama boys have ever sung! Amazing singers, song writers and musicians. You know where I live is special when a group hits the big time but never moves from home. I love where I live and I am thankful that I moved here many years ago. God bless
Thanks for the prayers Catherine! I love it when folks remember the roots no matter how successful they get, that's one of the reasons I love Alabama, the other reason of course is they made some of my favorite Christmas music of all time!
My husband and I are new subscribers to your channel. It is so comforting to watch your videos and see our scenic KY mountains. We are elsewhere in the US right now, but plan to come back to KY one day to retire. Keep making those videos and we will keep watching. Bless you both.
Just like the last time I road the old road - car sick ! When I was first married I worked at the old Cook Drug Store. I would fly down that road to pick up supplies in Harlan . I think I’ll ride the new road the next time there ! Thanks for the drive !
First of all I will pray for poppa covote everyday and I love this video because it reminded of went I go riding in the mountains of Tennessee and Kentucky and Virginia God bless you and your poppa
At 2:48, you pass the former site of my grandparent's house on the left, now all covered in kudzu. Dad was born across the river and grew up here in the 1920's, 30's and early 40s. I visited dozens of times and have wonderful memories of this spot. Thank you. BTW, that's the Totz Elementary school at the beginning. Not sure when it closed.
I just found your channel and have been enjoying the Harlan Co. videos. About 4:20 you passed Dione Baptist church. My great grandparents donated land for it and my mother grew up there. In fact my parents met when my dad was leading a youth revival there.
i went to that school a long long time ago it was the early seventies thanks for showing that i am from Cumberland live in TN now my dad and sister still lives there thanks
Thank You Coyote & Mrs. Coyote you will not regret getting a RV to see America the Beautiful this is 32 Years Driving A Simi and am sure I still haven’t seen everything and l Hope Mrs Coyote Father is feeling Well 🙏🏼
Beautiful drive Coyote's! I'm used to the advertisements in videos and don't mind them, especially when it's a great video, it helps build suspense. Beautiful area on this drive! Thanks for sharing! Sorry to hear about Papa Coyote, I'm praying for him.
Thanks for the prayers Mitch we appreciate them. The commercials on RUclips reminds me of television when I was a kid, they would put them in at the most suspenseful moments in the show.
My favorite Christmas song of all time is Hard Candy Christmas by Dolly Parton. I love Christmas too. The backroads are beautiful. I enjoy all the places you show us. Please know how much we appreciate what you do, especially those of us who use to live in the area and don’t any more. Let those commercials run folks and don’t hit the skip add button. If I’m not wrong it makes the person doing the video more money when you let the add run it’s entirety instead of skipping it. And the way I look at it is if they can buy all the equipment and film and all the gas for their vehicle plus wear and tear on the vehicle we can watch a couple of adds. So come on all of you guys let’s let those adds run.
@@IgnitedCoyote I forgot, but I would like to add that the likes and comments make money for the person doing them also. Now I realize that a person may not comment on a certain video. But it takes less than a second to hit that like button. I see so many You Tube videos with a couple of thousand views and only 10 or 20 likes. We can do better than that too. So let’s all hit that like button, and sharing videos also bring in money.
Mr. and Mrs. Coyote - Just watched your latest video. As I said before, I'm from that area originally and I absolutely love seeing your posts. I don't have any family to speak of left there, so watching you both and the places you go is like being there and fills a bucket for me. Praying for Papa Coyote. Keep those videos coming. If you ever have time and can go to a place called Brownies Creek in Bell County, I would love to see that. By the way, my two favorite Christmas songs are the same as yours - Christmas in Dixie and Tender Tennessee Christmas. Your friends in Nashville, Jim & Chris.
Thanks Jim, and you have family here now because you're part of our little coyote family. And we appreciate each and every one of you for watching our videos and being part of our channel! Will put brownies Creek creek on our list of places to check out in Bell county.
@@IgnitedCoyote That would be great! Lord willing I'm planning a road trip over there with my wife in October for my 70th birthday. Again, watching your videos is like going home in some ways. Love it when you guys say "Bye." Warms my heart.
Hi Ignited & Mrs Coyote. When I was a kid I’d get to leave Mom and Dad and come to Kentucky in early August usually for about 2 weeks I’d spend a week in Springfield visiting Dad’s parents and a week in Irvine visiting Mom’s parents. Kentucky in the summer is a special memory for me. One time as a kid Mom’s parents took me to around Perry County. I saw Hazard and we stayed the night at Buckhorn Lake The hotel there had lousy food. Really love your channel and the videos especially getting to go along with y’all on your driving excursions!! Have a blessed day!! God Bless y’all
@@patriciacreech6869 my Grandparents in Springfield were Bennett and Helen Lewis. Their house is now an insurance agency.. Next door used to be a grocery store. Now it’s a social service agency I think. I like Springfield. Nice town
I will take your summer weather over mine in a heart beat lol. I'm in Florida and our heat and humidity is unbearable, it's triple digits during the day. I can't wait to move up there. Love the videos keep them coming.
This has been a good year for vines... they're everywhere! Years ago, Toyota made a mini RV, that got around 20MPG, better than the single digit MPG many get. It was built around one of their small trucks. At least Poppa Coyote lives in a time where medical technology gives him a chance to live a good life, and also, he has a good attitude. That helps a lot! That part of Kentucky is somewhere between The Shire and Naboo...
We like the idea of a small travel trailer, but of course you have to have a good and dependable vehicle to pull it with. My father-in-law is the toughest man I've ever met. He refuses to let sickness take his world over, he treats very serious medical conditions as minor inconveniences.
I’m forty five and I still call it the new rd but I grew up in putney and my parents called it that. I try to call it 119 now so my kids know what I’m talking about.
I can remember when all of the stores in Cumberland were booming businesses. That was back when the coal mines were operating. My Daddy worked for US Steel for 44 years. I’ve walked the streets of Cumberland many a time and window shopped!
@@IgnitedCoyote me too! We’ve just moved back after being gone for thirty years. I would love to see this place prosperous again. It sure is beautiful!
Got me thinking of Christmas now haha. Does Barbourville still have the 12 Days of Christmas lights displays throughout the entire town? When I was younger, my Dad and I would go through there every year.😊
