- Sometimes the stars align, but in reality, I got to fish with a couple dudes who knew what they were doing and showed me a few things about catching big fish! It was a night I'll never forget and even better, I had great company! Even Josh wasn't so bad.

My buddy and I were fishing in the eastern part of Nebraska and caught a 50+lb channel. I'll show you where is was, if you're interested. Mid morning catch on kayak. Shad chunk bait. Broke his reel right off the base, still landed it with reel in hand while reeling though the pain. Way off river, come on up, we'd love to show you. Both big fans.

how would you know it was 70+ if you never weighed it bud
@@bdade1042 after quite a few years of chasing any species, you can usually tell by the body, a flats body mass/structure change every 10lbs or so until they reach about 90#s then it goes all gut sir. His educated guess was 70#s which means the fish could be 50 and it could be 80 depending on the time of day he seen the fish could also effect if it looked larger or smaller as well.

Yo just for future reference...if you have a fish on that pulls you into a snag, most of the time it will come free if you give the fish plenty of slack and put your rod back in the holder. Typically works in a matter of minutes. My buddies and I do this pretty often on the Ohio River here in KY. Love the videos. Tight lines yall🤙

Wow, Flathead Heaven. I was looking at those Rods and thinking Girly Man Rods, never hold up. They were catching really big fish. So I guess I use Girly Man Rods with the Ugly Sticks I bought. Looks like you had a great time anyway and honestly I think that's what it's all about!

River certified I am from the tip of the nose in iowa and love watching your videos... I do catch a few longnose gars by the locks im at on the Mississippi... been wanting to flathead fish to the best I can but man those Chanel catfish or gar and drums steel my bait none stop... but that's fishing ... and I really want to start myself a youtube Chanel here soon... and podcast is great as long as the cubs or packers game is not on lol I listen to your pod cast or videos almost feels like ya got a buddy there when your alone lol... respect your fishing style
And some Patel fish do get snagged witch they our just amazeing to see.., I've only seen one outside of a museum and it was a waleye fisherman that snagged him it was really cool to see

That creek reminds me of the Great Miami River in Middletown Ohio, or the part that runs through Middletown anyway! But there’s some big flatheads in it too, I know that for a fact because my Uncle caught one 60+ and later on I caught one right at 60 at a different hole, swim, whatever you wanna call it. Another time my cousin and me caught two 30 lb’ers back to back, pretty much out of the same hole of water. Those Flatheads in the great Miami like smallmouths, largemouths and small channel cats, I’ve caught them on all kinds of different livebait, one time or another! Anyway, good deal fellars!

Sat out on pool 9 of the Mississippi all night the last few nights, and not one single flathead. I did catch a few nice bass and a few 35+in northern pike on live bluegills though. Hopefully I can find em and get a few big one's this summer. It's hard to put in the time with the amount of bug's you have to deal with now.

Oh I'm a major dweeb, but can make conversation with most people. Josh is a lot of fun to fish with luckily. I honestly love flathead. Ill keep one or two a year. Usually 5-10 lbers.

If this was the greatest nite of flathead fishing for you, you need to come South. Santee in SC or the Tenn. River. Around Watts Bar. You would be amazed at how often we catch 30-40 lb. fish. Most every trip.
Those places are like a different universe than the midwest. It hurts bad that I live 12 hours from Watts Bar and about 18 from Santee Cooper.
U guy definitely need to hookup and do more vids together. I Enjoy watchin you and joshs vids. Now i gotta start watchin bj channel to.
