  • A very wet morning at Crewe but some interesting moves passing through the station and yard.
See class 73's 73963 & 73965 heading back to Derby after an evening working a test train across the Merseyside 3rd rail network.
Next up is A4 loco 60007 'Sir Nigel Gresley' arriving on the rear of the consist to head to Chester, where it will lead to Carlisle for a railtour to mark the 65th anniversary of it's 112mph ECML post war steam speed record.
Also seen is MIdland Pullman/LSL loco 43049 arriving by road via Allelys.
    Hope you enjoy the video!

The Midland Pullam locomotive from your video looks to be 43046. Great video, thank you for sharing

    More scoops!
73s are not the prettiest of locos, but you can't deny their longevity.
I guess that back in the day a BR(SR) 73 driver could only dream of taking his loco to Crewe.

The No.43046 “Geoff Drury 1930-1999 Steam Preservation and Computerised Track Recording Pioneer” is there.
And No.43049 “Neville Hill” is not.

Ask anyone 50 years ago. Class 73, scrapped, yes, at Crewe, no.

The West Coast Mainline is closed north of Carlisle this morning due to flooding, not sure how far the Rail Tour will go.

It's only going as far north as Carlisle, so it shouldn't make any difference

Those DRS 37s are they now owned by LSL since they were in the yard?

Harry Needle acquired those from DRS - LSL will be moving them next week to Worksop 👍

hi, great video. why can't the clowns put that hst power car in a train with a brake van behind it, would be a lot quicker. those 73s don't sound the same without the EE engine which is a pity

    • @22pcirish
      @22pcirish Месяц назад

There are no brake vans. The rules applicable to vans have been removed from the rule book. It’s likely going by road as it’s unfit to run by rail. The 73 has been updated to a V8 from an in-line 4!

The power car was returning from specialist bodywork repairs at a non-rail connected site. Perhaps in future educate yourself before referring to a very competent and professional railway company as “clowns”.

Why have a 600hp inline four cylinder from the 1950s/60s when a vastly more modern 1,600hp MTU V8 does the job of moving it a great deal better lol
