There are lots of point-and-click CC and burst abilities, so don't rely on your skillshot dodging skills from LoL to outplay enemies. 5. You cannot recall to base. You can, however, TP to your fountain by using the consumable TP item. 6. You lose gold when you die. 7. You don't have to be near shop to buy items. When you're away, the items will be put into your "stash" and can be retrieved either personally or using a Courier. 8. You don't have Runes, Summoner Spells or Trinkets. 9. If you have enough gold, you can "buyback" and respawn at base. Use this only when you absolutely have to, as buyback has a long cooldown and part of your remaining death timer gets carried over to your next death. 10. Jungle camps do not have respawn timers. They spawn at every minute mark, but only if there are no units in their camp at the time. You can use this to "block" jungle camps from spawning. You can also "stack" camps by pulling the creeps out of the camp zone as the timer is about to hit the next minute mark. 11. There are no Red, Blue, Dragon or Baron buffs. The Baron of the map, Roshan, drops an item called Aegis (similar to how Eye of the Herald is dropped from Rift Herald) that when picked up gives you a stronger Guardian Angel revive effect for 5 minutes, but takes up an inventory slot. Keep in mind that no matter who kills Roshan, anyone can pick up the Aegis. 12. You can divert tower aggro by attack-clicking an allied unit in the tower's range. You don't have to actually perform the attack though. 13. Mechanics and abilities that would be considered OP, unbalanced, anti-fun and game breaking in LoL are commonplace in Dota. Whether or not this is a good thing is up to you.
@Madifuho, Dota is A LOT more strategical game than LOL. Only the highground system brings a lot, because, using it, you can win fight even if enemy dominate you. Supports are not just harrassment tools, they have to control runes, stack and pull creeps so enemy gets no gold and exp and you dont push lane, and with the new 7.33 supports also control lotuses for a good hp and mana regen, and control wisdom runes for ex (cus good supports traditionally lack 1-3 lvls comparing to cores), with a new teleport so enemy dont gank you. Also supports have to bring utilities to core hero, possibly being their personal courrier, ganking allies of you won your lane. Supports must place vision all over the map, and break enemy's vision. Supports have to do everything so their core hero survives and enemy core goes to fight with jungle creeps. Abd it is only laning stage for one of 5 positions. I agree, in micro moments LOL is harder cus most skills are not simple point-and-click, and DOTA has, i think, only 1/3 skills requiring aim. 2:17 On league, technically, you can use any champion for any role. There are crazy people out there that use a champion on a role they're not designed to be. 3:30 Another misconception, you are not forced to build a full item at the start. There are some "component items" that provides a weaker version of the passive it's "parent item" have. So sometimes it's alright to have a few component items for a while. 6:40 I don't think that needed explanation. Every game does that. Also that inventory. I kinda cringe at players who buy the same items twice on league, so can't say I like what I saw Yeah, nice game Ice Frog(this is sarcasm btw). This isn't my opinion as a league player, but as a gamer in general.
Most DotA players I know suck at League too, it's okay. DotA gets too much credit for being complex, but it really isn't. There's just a few extra things you need to keep in mind.
@@antemedon Like how to counter their techies with adequate positioning and outplays, magic damage resist auras and bkb, not pushing towers straight on but at an angle, strategic ward placement and sentries and when to get rid of those mines at secret at the best time. This is for 1 hero, not counting their team or your team much and the fact that all of that isn't free. It takes time and money. I think your statement isn't true for these reasons, but if you take small bites, you can eat up all the information. And yes it's true I'm dogshit at LoL.
@@klemenvidmar6307 @Klemen Vidmar see, most DotA players haven't played League long enough to even care to comprehend how similar both games are. I'm a veteran DotA 1 player who switched to league later, so I know how legit my assumptions are. We have teemo who's pretty similar to techies, so all that applies here too. Towers in DotA are dogshit. They're slow af and extremely easy to kill. You can't solo a turret in League because their defences skyrocket when minions aren't around. We have wards too, and wards to counter wards. 50% of every marksman's role in League is about positioning because they always get targetted first. DotA matches are pure chaos because every hero is trying to outplay every other hero. League has synergy. The only real differences in league and DotA are the elevation advantages, the ability to remove trees for strategic movement, denying creeps, the secret shop and a courier. League relies on teamwork and balanced out teams way more than DotA. League is also far more flexible because you can decide to play a physical damage champ as an ability damage one, or a tank as a nuker ane get away with it, DotA champs progress in a far more linear way. Agility heroes are the only ones who usually build attack speed, strength heroes are usually the only ones with a lot of health, etc etc.

@@milk-pk4xk Probably, but you can also pay for cosmetics that make something far more noticeable than they originally are, like Mirana's infamous sperm arrow.
There are some important aspects that has to be taught to league players. The most important thing that isn't taught in many guides is healing. In league, if you get low, you have a 8 second recall and you spend the next 30 seconds walking back to lane. Doing so in league will not incur any penalties if one crashes the creep wave under the opponents tower to reset the wave. However, in dota, there is a courier system that enables people to ship regen items like salves, mangos, clarities and tangos. Therefore in most scenarios during the laning phase, dota heroes do not need to go back to base in most cases. But league players are bound by the mentality that if one needs to heal, one has to go back to base. This mentality screws up the play style and makes league players look like complete bots when they start dota. The next important thing that isn't taught to league players is the concept of dying. There is a large stigma to dying for league players. If you die, your opponent gains 300 gold, gains a free wave 120 gold and denies your wave (120 gold for you), making one death worth roughly 500 gold and lots of xp, enabling a lane to snowball out of hand. However, in dota, dying is not all that bad except for the pos 1 and pos 2. Supports can go super aggressive so as to draw pressure from the opponent so as to let their carries farm safely. The penalty of death is not as huge as it is in league as long as the pos 3-5s can waste their opponent's time. League players enter this game playing very safe, believing that their lives are very precious and blaming any other people with a high death count that is drawing pressure. This safe play means that league players end up doing nothing for the team. The last important thing that is not taught to league players are the roles. In league, roles are simple, top lane, you play tank, jungle, you play ganker, all you have to do is to outplay your opponent and stomp your lane to win. But in dota, different positions have different game plans. It's not just about stomping your opponent in lane. But this concept is never explained to league players. League players end up playing offlane safely so that they can scale like what they do in league. League players play support by harassing opponent in lane like what they do in league and end up soaking xp without pulling/stacking. League players end up joining in lots of fights playing safe lane carry because that is what they do in league. League players are essentially screwed when they play dota because they play dota like they play league. Most guides just ignore the basics of basics simply because they think it's so self-explanatory. No it isn't - especially for players that have developed habits from other games.
Another one is that rax's don't respawn, a small one, but it'll definitely throw league players off at first, also that "super" creeps give less gold (and i think less xp? I'm newly returning so idk what's changed in it's entirety)
I actually just downloaded Dota 2. Have never tried this or Dota before but I just heard how complicated this was compared to LoL. After watching ur vid, still looks insanely complex, but really appreciate you making this and highlighting the things you do and don’t need to focus on as a beginner. Nice job man !

I like how simple you made the game sound lol, the whole "you don't care" just takes away all the nerves i had before downloading the game. I played Dota back in the day then onto to League for the past 10 yrs. Thought i would suck trying out Dota 2 since i found Dota mechanics difficult but after watching this, I really don't care whether i suck or not, just gonna jump in and see what happens.
I enjoy the "Everyone is OP so its ok" balance philosophy. LoL has been terrible for years from reverse powercreep + playing favorites + overtuned new champs
As a league player my head almost exploded from the amount of complexity. I can see similarities between the games like some of those runes being like red and blue buff but the whole high ground thing, being able to kill your own creeps, and a hidden shop outside of base blew my mind
Then you have aghanim item, which basically give your hero 2 new skills Oh wait did i mention about "talent tree", now you have another 6 options to customize your hero
@@ayobruce8211 I've been playind dota for years and picked up league 2 years ago cause some new friends play that over Dota. I can definitely say that that macro side is much easier on league. However the jukes are completely different for each game imo. Also instant turn rate was cancer to me in lol when I started. I think my biggest complaint for lol coming from Dota is how insane the scaling is and how extremely one sided some matches can be to the point of you basically being obsolete in lane if the kill you once. I'm curious to here (if you're a league player) what your biggest complaint would be for Dota 2. If there was one thing i would bring to league though it would be the ability to pump fake your spells with your stop key (ones with animations at least not instant ones like leblancs leap skill or whatever it is XD)
most of the mechanics he's explained have been around since dota mod, I'd say they're all pretty basic concepts. sure some things might change a little but most of it is pretty core concepts.
This is wrong. Most ppl can not communicate because they don’t know how to effectively communicate with teammates. I won so many games just because I keep telling my team what is my next step, ask core when they feel comfortable engaging, and telling people where could be a good place to play. Toxicity drops a lot if you can make reasonable proposals to get other people on board with your strategy.

And these things made this game more versatile and creative. And thank god, within these mechanics, they helped me to get through Legend 3 recently and I recommend for LoL players to try out this game for once.
Yup true. I played DoTA for about 6 years, and I tried playing LoL for new experience. LoL is more like Mobile Legend, you need to purchase champions to play them. New champions are too OP and the game is not balanced at all. DoTA is different thou, all heroes are free, u can just try using them in practice or lobby and get to know them better. DoTA is quite difficult at first, but after hours of playing and seeing different style of play, u can become better.

The summary could be more detail. There is an order to the objectives: safe lane tier 1, take enemy jungle, ward it, take mid tier 1, pressure safelane t2, take smart fights and set up for rosh, take rosh, use aegis to take enemy triangle, squeeze enemy off entire map, lock them in base, use aegis to hit hg, wait a bit, get 2nd aegis, win game.
I think the most important thing for new players is to play with bots, increasing their difficulty from passive to unfair. You also can do it with team of other human beings. And learn a little bit about settings, so you can adjust them to your personal preferences. Then watch guides about heroes and some streams (to learn how game will go with actual players), read items descriptions and try it in private lobby. Then you're good to go play actual pubs and not completely ruin your good mood because of toxic teammates screaming at your mistakes.

omg i LOVE the "you don't care" hehe... thanks for the vid :-)
Thanks for the explanation. This made me realise how much I dont care about that
I finally understand how to play DOTA 2, just don't care that's all you should know.
I kinda cringe at players who buy the same items twice on league, so can't say I like what I saw
Yeah, nice game Ice Frog(this is sarcasm btw). This isn't my opinion as a league player, but as a gamer in general.
3:30 Yes, but way to misrepresent the point. You don't go out with 6 slots filled in LoL at the start of a match, you do in Dota.
I just wanted to ask why my enemy on lane is always ahead on level than me, why was that
5:05 What I learned so far
"I don't care" :D
But, you don’t care. Lol, I love this! Thank you so much for giving me the confidence to try this game again. Great video! Got my sub!
For new players, all the roles like carry or support is useless? either 5 carries or 5 supports can stomp a game.
Nahh he meant the offlane, mid lane, hard carry, soft supp and hard supp.
But you still need 3 cores and 2 supps.

Good luck with the learning and i hope you find dota 2 enjoyable once you get the hang of it! :))
I think your statement isn't true for these reasons,
but if you take small bites,
you can eat up all the information.

Underrated comment. I play many type of moba game and some game need different mental play.
Can't agree more
Another one is that rax's don't respawn, a small one, but it'll definitely throw league players off at first, also that "super" creeps give less gold (and i think less xp? I'm newly returning so idk what's changed in it's entirety)
"There's a large stigma to dying" LMAO League is full of feeders.
Don't know anything about Dota but it seem like very fun since you can play however and whatever you want.
I actually just downloaded Dota 2. Have never tried this or Dota before but I just heard how complicated this was compared to LoL. I think my biggest complaint for lol coming from Dota is how insane the scaling is and how extremely one sided some matches can be to the point of you basically being obsolete in lane if the kill you once. I'm curious to here (if you're a league player) what your biggest complaint would be for Dota 2. how to enjoy learning dota:
step 1 mute teammates voice and chat
This is wrong. Most ppl can not communicate because they don’t know how to effectively communicate with teammates. I won so many games just because I keep telling my team what is my next step, ask core when they feel comfortable engaging, and telling people where could be a good place to play. Toxicity drops a lot if you can make reasonable proposals to get other people on board with your strategy.

I was addicted to LoL and managed to quit on March this year (2020).
