- The Squad French Faction is a mod for Squad that introduces, you guessed it, the French Faction, as well as legit top tier night vision ops on Squad maps. I wish OWI would pinch a few bits from this overhaul.

Imagine Squad games having a day/night cycle in a match. Would help with immersion and especially introducing official NVGs
Yeah, but the performance would be trash. That would require real time global lighting. Currently I think shadows for static map objects and terrain are baked into the map, which is of course done for performance reasons. If global lighting from the sun/moon was real time, the game would be constantly re calculating the shadows and lighting of every object on the map as the light moves.

@@TUROCK320 i think he meant live day/night cycles happening in game. Not just a day map or night map. As in you can start out the match in the evening and end at night time.

I played it 2 or 5 years ago, i doesnt remember.
I'm pretty sure there are galactic contention maps with changing time of day

Honestly I'm surprised that it's taken as long as it has to see night vision in Squad outside of the star wars mod, even if it's still in a mod.

@@Real_Claudy_Focan Then it would be a mod that became standalone then became a whole new game that was modded and the modders made a game based on a mod of a game that is a whole new game of a standalone mod game, later in this timeline the game that came out of a squad mod will be modded and the cycle repeats until WWIII breaks out and we're no longer playing combat sims but flying FPV drones on each others heads

This is literally just a green filter over everything, doesn't really convey fighting under NOD-s even close to reality. Cool idea, but the execution is not great.
