  • @NIN10DOXD
    @NIN10DOXD 5 лет назад +2

    CVT is overblown because some people think that just because Nissan's are bad that everyone else's won't last either. It's a new newer technology so it's not going to perfect, but it's crazy to say an economy car is an instant pass for having one when they almost all do now. Not all CVTs are made equal.

    Waiting to collect my car in November. Test drive the car and it feels European. I find that having this kind of feeling beats the fatigue after a long day at work. I agree that launching the car at 1st gear feels abit sluggish but hey, its a comfortable car to start with and having too much power will wear off the rear suspension easily. I also agree that peddle shifters should be installed for the new KIA since I prefer to use semi automatic to save on petrol rather than pressing the throttle more to get higher rpm and also on steep gradient and preventing to shift focus on the shift knob. I believe there is a hidden performance to this car which I think by retuning the car could help with the performance. However, do note that retuning will void the warranty. Lastly, got to find out, the man behind the design on this KIA is the former designer of Audi. Welcome onboard. Anyway, good job for the new KIA! Keep pushing the game to the limits!

    In evaluating this car it's important to keep in mind KIA's market targets. It's certainly NOT enthusiasts. But for every sale KIA loses as a result of a CVT and a non-turbo 4 banger, it more than makes up for that loss with first time buyers (or their parents) and downsizing older consumers. This is an attractive, roomy sedan with an upscale interior, loaded with safety and tech features, among the best warranties in the industry, and a fuel efficiency rating of 40 (!) mpg, a figure that jumps off the window sticker in the showroom. All of that for a maximum price of $25K and a likely discount of several thousand dollars more than Honda or Toyota dealers offer.
    For a kid going off to college parents (like me) appreciate the excellent suite of safety features and KIA's overall strong crash test results. For those students the Forte's interior room is great for road trips with friends and moving all that stuff back and forth to school. For seniors looking to downsize, that upscale interior looks and feels more premium than the Forte's rivals. And for recent graduates saddled with student debt and retirees on a fixed budget, the purchase price and the fuel efficiency have strong appeal.
    Furthermore, KIA is playing a long game with the Forte. Brand loyalty isn't what it used to be but capturing first time buyers is still important to manufacturers. If that experience is a good one, consumers are likely to look first at the same brand for their next purchase. KIA has loaded the Forte with features meant to assure a positive experience. And when Forte owners look for their next vehicle an Optima or a Sorento is more likely to get serious consideration.

    Love my 2019 forte. Provides an excellent driving experience, decent technology and excellent gas prices. 28 bucks to fill it up. It's not a sexy/ particularly fun ride but if you need something that is dependable and comfortable definitely consider. Got mine for 13k with 27k miles on it. Best 13K I have ever spent. Also very affordable insurance rates. I get excellent coverage for 800 a year. A+product that should be considered with the Civics for folks needing daily commuters.

    In 2022 our 2019 Kia Rio began to bellow white smoke that reeked of gasoline. After a little research I found that it had a fuel pump mounted to the valve train. Took car to dealer, and dealer said that warrenty was exceeded by mileage, and part not part of drive train, and not covered by drivetrain warrenty. New pump was going to be $1200.00 installed, and part backorder was going to be five weeks minimum. I asked if spun bearings due to gasoline in crankcase, and burning car were covered under drive train warrenty, and they hung up on me. Called corporate and they advised part was covered under drivetrain warrenty because contract is in owners manual which has no fine print whatsoever. For the sake of expediency I bought brand new pump from another manufacturer, for $150.00 which arrived in three days, and then spent ten minutes replacing pump. It has run fine until recently when Rio was stolen, and severely damaged when run over a curb whicvh broke engine from transmission plus window broken, column trashed, and wipers broken off because thief accidentally started wipers when breaking column to steal. Kia denied ever hearing of theft problem. Kia wqanted two hours troubleshooting to give estimate for repair. I said I already know what is wrong with car so just fix it. Then Kia at insisted we prepay repair bill before work began. I asked how they could possibly know what was wrong with car ahead of time, and that must be a new thiung where dealer wont fix car unless you prepay. Told wife to leave car at Kia dealer. Kia said they would have it towed away for being parked illegally. I called corporate who has brand new stolen Kia runaround line dedicated to irritating customers who have had their Kias stolen already, and they hung up on me. I called the Bureau of automotive repair filed complaint then they had me call the federal trade comission where I also filed complaint. Since my wife is Thai I called a local Los Angelus Thai language newspaper to see if they would do a survey of their Thai community who owned Kia cars, and they agreed (my wife knows the owner of the paper). Accidentally recieved phone call from Kia corporate in which they accidentally gave me a direct line right back to the woman who hung up on me. I called, and informed her of my actiopns. She said the whole thing is a misunderstanding on their part if I already had the insurance check in my hand, and NOW the dealership WOULD look at theft damaged car but my wife had to go in and sign a permission slip. Keep in mind Kia is required by a class action lawsuit to repair these cars, and pay all related expenses. My insurance company shouild not have to pay anything to anyone as Kia has been found responsible for fasiling to protect these cars from theft properly. My wife is making monthly payments on this car, and it has been damaged, and undriveable for three months as I write this causing us to buy another car. Considered renting one and backcharging Kia, but I am not an ass looking to make the reimbursement as expensive as possible for Kia, I just want them to fix it. They are dragging their feet at the customers expense, and are downright rude about it once you get them to stop lying. I have purchased two new Kia products lifetime, and will NEVER EVER buy another

      Giving a letter or numerical score to a car based on subjective criteria oversimplifies a car’s merits. Everyone likes different things and has different priorities. I have the 2018 Elantra. It has the same engine as this Forte but has a 6-speed auto tranny instead of a CVT. I'll take my car over this Forte easily. The only advantage of the Forte is the cooled seats. Wish I had that here in Southern California...

    • @thundergato84
      @thundergato84 5 лет назад

      How's the acceleration on the Elantra with 147 HP? I drove a Veloster as a rental, and it was slow to take off.

    • @tacocruiser4238
      @tacocruiser4238 5 лет назад

      @@thundergato84 it's got plenty of acceleration as long as you put it in sports mode. The transmission downshifts very aggressively in sports mode and gives me alot of confidence when passing other cars. In most situations, normal mode is fine. Eco mode is perfect for city driving because the acceleration at stop lights is silky smooth and less herky-jerky (which helps with mpg).

    I just dropped off my barely 2-month-old 1500-mile 2019 Forte EX at Kia service. Replacing the WHOLE CVT.

    • @nrsmythe
      @nrsmythe 5 лет назад +1

      @Grieg Ragen Not to discourage you...just a heads up.
      As of today, my car is still im the shop awaiting the new CVT. Kia Consumer Affairs finally hooked me up with a regional rep whom I have been having difficult contacting for 2 weeks. Made a complaint to the BBB last night after I read many other Kia complaints there. I hope you don't get into a similar situation.

    • @ztekz

      Norma, how did u know the CVT was the issue?

    • @nrsmythe
      @nrsmythe 5 лет назад

      @@ztekz I took a good guess only because of the issues I read from many others about it. I didn't ask Kia right away because I wanted them to tell me themselves. I went back to the front desk just in time to hear 2 techs confirm with the front desk that it was the CVT.
      Car runs fine now, but I'm still gonna get rid of it as soon as I get a chance.
      Heads up...on the previous 2 days before it went down, I could feel the car "pulling back" on the highway. NO warning light came on.

    • @ztekz
      @ztekz 5 лет назад

      Norma thanks for the info...was seriously considering the Forte EX as a commuter car but my fear was their new IVT/CVT being new and haven’t been long term tested. I still prefer a traditional 6-spd automatic. Unfortunately most of compact cars in the class use CVT with exception of the Mazda 3 and Elantra...I guess I better stay away from the Forte! Too bad if only they stuck with a torque conv. automatic!

    Not sure why the auto reviewers keep saying standard Auto climate control. It is not standard on every trim level. Also, those are not leather seats. It is Kia's version of vinyl.

    Probably 20 years ago now. I went to the Kia dealership. Many cars were unlocked on sundays and basically seemed like used rental cars already. Not because hobos used them as toilets in transit rail cars but because they were so shitty in new condition. I think the base one was 8k
