Our perceptions of ourselves can be so horribly cruel. I saw the title and I was instantly kicked with this huge sense of unfairness-how can you possibly think of yourself as a failure? You write the most gorgeous words: I don’t know anyone who has such an instinct for poetry AND prose as you do ! And you can twine it all together with such effortlessly (or rather, you have the ability to make it appear effortless) stunning cinematography-such a warmth of contact with the world. And you are so very loved ! And a mother ! Keelin you are the very antithesis of a failure :)) also this white top looks so beautiful on you, you look like Tess of the d’Urbevilles
Thank u so much!! I meant more in the way it’s okay to fail, our failures are as much a part of life as successes are - maybe even more invaluable because we can learn from them 💖 thanks again xx
youre so wise and selfaware but the main thing thats so admirable for me is the fact that you are always working on yourself and putting in the effort for introspection and for learning different skills to help you keep building yourself in a harmonious and balanced way. So nice, your babys got such a nice example and a loving mom whos trying her best and i think thats the most important
The flaking/unreliability is also people who were emotionally neglected (it's not just from being coddled) because either way you were never taught HOW to deal with and manage your emotions and rely on yourself
I hope this can help you or anyone struggling with fear of losing memories-but anxiety is a huge factor in this! If you struggle with anxiety, it’s likely that your brain is not encoding these memories in the first place (too much anxiety = you not focusing on the situation e.g. if you’re in you’re head worrying during the situation you’re trying to remember) I also used to worry about Alzheimer’s but I found that my fear was mostly in not being able to *retrieve* memories. Anxiety takes a lot of your mental clarity, but it doesn’t have to alter your brain permanently, there are many many resources out there to help! You’re not alone!
KEELIN thank u for this. I am with you on the whole recently feeling all these negative thoughts and self-doubt. Imposter syndrome has been alive and well in me recently, and it helps to hear you speak about all this. I know I'm smart, and like you, I'm willing to learn but I am not pursuing a bachelor's degree (I'm 20) and that looming feeling of I AM NOT WORTHY BC I AM NOT EDUCATED is the worst. I decided to get certified as a life coach, and recently my brain has been like HEY UUUU WHO DO U THINK U ARE TRYING! But, I'm realizing these feelings come in waves, and for me, a degree isn't me following my heart and that is what matters most. Also, listened to the pod this morning, LUUUUVVV, one of the best episodes so far IMO 💚also! u are looking gorgeous
And I should’ve mentioned but I only just remembered - the attachment of age and success, why do we feel as if we can’t go back to college when we’re older?? There’s so many options down the line for when we feel ready or if we ever feel ready - there’s so much I want to learn before I die !! YOU ARE WORTHY
Really needed to hear all this right now, was actually just discussing how much societal and personal pressure I feel to succeed and be somewhere/do something with myself
Love your videos and how honest you are! There’s a really good book called mindset that talks about ‘failing/losing’ and how it’s all about ur mindset on what u do next. I really recommend genuinely changed my life and allowed to me like let myself learn and ‘fail’ because it’s just all about learning and getting better at something I want to do and not for someone else xxxx
Keelin, all of the friends my mom is friends with now she met through baby and mommy music classes when my sister was a baby. Her 2 best friends have been in her life for over 30 years and their kids are still friends with my sister. you will make friends i’m sure of it especially because you’re so giving and perceptive.
Really loved this video, love a good sit down GRWM and the mix of chatting about the products briefly while discussing such interesting topics was so good. The thought that we are not defined by trauma really resonated with me, it makes me want to look differently at how my past normally effects my present feelings and decisions. Thanks Keelin❤
I remember getting asked to give talks in colleges and feeling like an idiot going in!! But they’re the ones who asked me in the first place I should be proud!!
If anybody is reading this, please consider an apprenticeship!! I’m doing an electrical one and you learn an awful lot and it’s STEM so if you have an interest consider it!
girl same here! several friends but most moved away and feeling a bit lonely. Branching out again and finding friends as an adult is daunting and tough.
also most degrees are just huge reading lists and then discussing books like only a few hours in actual uni with lecturers, so you can easily educate yourself to the same extent just by being well read
Me listening to this video after drinking 2 cups of coffee and drinking no water 🫣 no but Keelin you are an inspiration, you are wise and kind and I love the way you speak about self-improvement as something utterly unrelated to ✨the clean girl aesthetic✨ cos what a load of bs. It’s so perceptible that you are introspective for the sake of yourself, your daughter, and your close friends/fam. Not for an aesthetic. Queen! Your videos have been with me through months of reevaluating my life values - thank you! Xxxx
a degree truly isnt the only maker of intelligence. i’m nearing the end of my degree and honestly half the people you meet with degrees have zero common sense or not even an 1/8th of your emotional intelligence!! as well the education system is so narrow and suited to so few.
I knoww you cannot, or at least you shouldn´t say you love youtubers, because you truly deeply dont know them. but girliee I LOVE YOU SO MUCHHH, you are my absolute fav
oh my god this couldn't have come at a better time, struggling with restraining myself from pleasure seeking through male / external validation! I wanna do the ACTUAL work within myself that I don't need those things to feel worthy, also this whole narrative about having the healthiest hair and clearest skin and best fashion its SO FUCKING jarring. As a woman you literally can't win in society because there's always going to be something 'wrong' with you.
I think you are really intelligent by the way :) Really enjoyed this video. This morning I did a brisk walk, had a paddle in the sea, read, and drank a big glass of water before my cup of tea! Go brain cells :)
As a child I was always too scared to go to summer camps or do sports etc. due to the social element of it and I definitely think my parents making me go would have really helped me in the future
I think that’s why stage school helped me so much for eg singing in front of people or dancing and messing up in front of other people helped me with confidence & resilience
@@KeelinMoncrieff oh 1000%, exposure to those daunting situations definitely helps you grow a lot as a person. Really wish I was forced into those things as a child as it would have helped me so much today
@lizzieb3816 I feel this soo much! I'm 25 now and find myself the last couple of months really grieving all of the experiences I missed out on and also the younger person I was. I know I'm still 'young' but, it's not the same. But I guess that's part of growing up for a lot of people. ❤
I’m unreliable and cancel plans for quite the opposite. I had to be a people pleaser my whole life because my emotions didn’t matter and my parents did. They were emotionally neglectful and I was their support system. So I still agree to things I know I can’t do to please.
so good so wise - you're smarter than so many ppl w degrees who get forced into it by parents or completely regret what they chose, like i did english literature n everyone called it a stupid degree anyway so even if you did one, you'd not necessarily feel better! if that helps that thought in a weird way!
Is Biohack your brain an easy read Keelin? I’m interested in the sound of it but I don’t like books that are overly technical and are hard for the average person to read/understand!
Lots of food for thought, Keelin. I think re the trigger warning, the point of the warning is that you don’t read on if you aren’t in a space mentally where you can handle it. That’s my understanding anyway, not that you would read on in the knowledge that you are going to be triggered.
This is really random but the print you have hanging on your wall is a reprint from a famous pop artist who was actually my next door neighbor growing up… just thought I’d share! She’s a lovely lady and her kids used to babysit me
You’re one of the most emotionally intelligent people I’ve ever come across! No degree can capture that. Youre so wise and doing a great job
I second this!
So well said!
couldn’t agree more with this 💖
