Brooks & Dunn, Sammy Hagar & Lainey Wilson Lead Toby Keith Tribute at 2024 CMT Awards

Country music lost a legend on Feb. 5 with the passing of Toby Keith at 62. With 20 No. 1 hits, Keith was known for his uncompromising style and controversial takes, leaving a lasting impact on the genre. At the 2024 CMT Music Awards, held at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas, Keith was honored in a heartfelt tribute.
Led by Brooks & Dunn, Sammy Hagar, and Lainey Wilson, the tribute featured Keith’s longtime backing band and was introduced by baseball legend Roger Clemens. Brooks & Dunn kicked off with “Should’ve Been a Cowboy,” followed by Hagar’s energetic rendition of “I Love This Bar.” Wilson closed the tribute with “How Do You Like Me Now?!” as Keith’s family watched.
