    astride the divide
    between childhood and lies
    mischaracterised
    romantic in retrospect
    twenty surrogate sons
a hundred ten in the summertime
    all I knew about life
    was a handful of water
    forgetting the line
    between action and consequence
parsing my place between fate and happenstance
after a love in which I was so shameless
    nineteen and aimless
    nineteen and aimless
    trip down the stairs
its not sneaking when no one cares
    counting on claire
    and basking in misery
    forgetting the line
    between action and consequence
parsing my place between fate and happenstance
after a love in which I was so shameless
    nineteen and aimless
    nineteen and aimless
    come with me
    bathe in memory
I didn't know who to be
    but I knew I wasn't blameless
    forgetting the line
    between action and consequence
parsing my place between fate and happenstance
after a love in which I was so shameless
    nineteen and aimless
    nineteen and aimless
before wine became a close acquaintance
before my college bands tried to get famous
but after a love in which I was so shameless
    nineteen and aimless
    nineteen and aimless

ok - I'm 61 years old and I gave up on most music after 1976 - but tonight I found this video and for the first time in over 40 years I can honestly say that this song is the BEST example of original, beautiful music that I've heard in all these years. Josh Turner you are breath of fresh air to this world of music when so much garbage is pumped across the airwaves. You, Carson, Taylor, Reina del Cid, Toni Lindgren, Allison Young and all the other "younger" musicians who are keeping "raw" music alive. No distortion, no effects, just beautiful music that transcends generations and is timeless. I can't thank all of you enough for this beautiful music. Real music.

I'm an old man now. I had to preface my comment with that truth. At Seventeen I was completely lost and also in a deep hole of my own making. I only comment here to you because I think back about how it might have made a big difference in my life had somebody realized I needed some advise. As it was for me, it took me half my life to learn how to live in harmony with those I love most. I would suggest that you first forget about how you got yourself in the hole you refer to. Hating yourself for what you did yesterday will not help you, it will only harm your spirit with negativity. What you might consider is realizing that, no matter what you did yesterday (good or bad) in no way assures what you will do today or tomorrow. Yesterday is over, so start out each day as if yesterday didn't happen. Each day, find something positive to do. Either for yourself or for someone else. Never do anything thinking you should get immediate positive feedback. Do it only for the feeling of doing something worthwhile, for yourself or for someone else. If you do this, in a short period of time you will realize that bad feelings only come when you feel you have failed to do something positive. Go to bed tonight thinking of something positive you can do tomorrow. You will then find it easier to go to bed content (tomorrow evening) knowing you tried to fulfill that promise and something (no matter how small) was accomplished. I got myself into a pretty addiction by the time I was Seventeen. It doesn't really matter what kind of addiction it was as they are all destroyers of hope. So, if you're suffering from those kinds of distractions, find a way to break from them. Find something you love doing and start the journey into whatever that is. Be patient as you start that journey as things worthwhile and with real lasting value don't always come overnight. Let your accomplishments describe who you are. You might not get immediate feedback from the people you love but over time they will know you not by the way you talk, but by the way you walk. I sincerely hope this will help you. Peace my Brother.

I recently had the pleasure of seeing these two extremely talented young men perform in Newport, KY. I’ve been very fortunate in that I’ve seen Josh perform since he was a young man. His talent knows no boundaries. Like many truly talented musicians, he is often unaware of the depth of his talents and his humility is both endearing and problematic as it can limit what he’s willing to try. This first cut off his solo album is an excellent example of all that is Josh...talent, creativity, humility and the promise of greatness. Carson and Taylor are excellent musicians as well. I mean, how many RUclips videos get the cat to spontaneously give a standing ovation & bravo (meow)? Best wishes to you Joshua Lee Turner!

This song hits exactly the right spot for me. I'm eighteen now and have been having long conversations with my parents and the people around me about this theme for the last months. I just came out of a relationship where I hurt someone greatly because of my inability to judge my feelings well and predict the consequences of my actions. Now I'm on the brink of a new love and afraid to hurt someone again. Obviously, the line 'forgetting the line between action and consequence' hits hard, but 'I didn't know who to be, but I knew I wasn't blameless' just perfectly puts my fear and anger towards myself to words. Thank you Josh. You make me feel like I'm not alone.

Joshua Lee Turner, I think the name change is a really good idea. You're actually quite hard to search for because the other Josh always turns up first by quite a way. Love your music by the way. Going to see you in Glasgow soon!!

@@tlabelle1965 haha yes of course I'm subscribed. But if you tell someone word of mouth, and they head off and google them, that's where the problem lies.

Yes I wondered why a mate couldn’t find him after I told him to search Josh Turner > so i thought I’d check Apple Music and found his albums only by searching ‘The Other Favourites’

Among the MANY things I love about these guys, is their natural performance. They are as tight as a snare drum. Despite cats, train whistles, sirens, loud neighbors, sweat bees (LOL)! rushing rivers etc. etc. they play right through. They can play anything, anytime, anywhere! But then as a bonus, we get to see a little of the action before and after (and sometimes during) the take. They are astonishingly talented musicians but letting us see "the man behind the curtain" was/is genius!

So this sweet song showed itself in my recommendations. And I said huh, from 2 years ago. I am well versed in the Josh Turner and all the Other Favorites. A compilation of Uber talented musicians and singers who compose their own songs, arrange, play, edit and upload for this RUclips audience's enjoyment. And I would be remiss if I did not mention the ingenious cover songs by said individuals. So enough about the backstory. 19 and Aimless is so very relatable, well-written and performed by these intrinsically musical young people. I have reached 58 years on this planet and can so truthfully state (musically): "I wish I knew what I know now, when I was younger". Alas, that can all be chalked up to the growing up, or maturing, process
So. I am grateful I am still finding these chestnuts on YT for my listening pleasure. Can't state how wonderful it is, finding & listening to your songs. A great part of what has kept my mind at ease and at the same time, filled my heart and soul with your beautiful music. Please do keep writing, playing and posting. I will be sure to listen to Josh Turner and the Other Favorites. Peace ✌ ☮

Last night I saw you with my friends in a tiny music bar Prulcek, Ljubljana, Slovenia, touring with Reina and Toni. I was so pleasantly surprised you visited and played in our small country. :) So cool! This says a lot about you. I had the opportunity to talk shortly with all three of you, bought your CDs that you kindly signed (yours, before it was officially released!). Such sweet young people with mighty old souls. Golden hands on instruments and sharing voices in perfect harmonies. As I said to you, I've been folowing you on YT for some time now, thanks to my best friend Tomaž that introduced you to me, amazed from the first encounter, never ever disappointed, and yesterday it was beautifull to see live how you become music each time you play and sing. Again, all three of you. So respectfully and humbly. To me, perfect musicians. And at such age. Man ... Anyway, I had to say this. :) Best of luck in your music and in life, we will continue listening to you with joy and watching you transform into a world class legend that to us you already are. Till next time. Nasvidenje prihodnjič! :)

This is a brilliant song! Such a great unexpected chord progression in the verses and then a more conventional chorus with great lyrics. "Before my college bands tried to get famous" made me smile with nostalgia. I went to FSU and played in a few bands and tried to make it.
