I think having fewer Anbu per village is a good idea. A lot of their scenes would be more impressive if only one of them was there at the time. Even if they lose a fight, having them weaken the enemy, get a few hits in on an Itachi-level character, or escape with valuable information from an unwinnable fight would make them feel a lot more impressive. I would really like if they were some secretive group where we never see their faces or know their identities, but they live as regular character we see throughout the show. That way the audience could ask “Is noodle guy the bear Anbu?”, “Is Shikamaru’s dad secretly the deer Anbu?” etc. If one of them is unmasked it is a big deal and usually means they’re dying and passing their mask on to the next person who uses it. Their interactions would be through action and sign language (or some fictional equivalent) and we’d never hear them talk. Going off of that last bit I thought it would be cool if the noodle guy’s daughter was an Anbu who would be nice to Naruto since she knows him through her dad’s shop and is privy to more information than the regular ninja. Like, she sees him in the street while coming back from a mission waves at him and he awkwardly waves back since he doesn’t know who she is, or she brings him ramen from different places around the world where she was doing missions. I don’t know, I think it would be cute. It might be cool if the power of each village could be seen in how many Anbu they have. Maybe if Konoha had about 12 and Sunegakure had just 1 because they haven’t been able to produce a ninja at that level since Granny Chiyo (other than maybe Sasori). I think it would also be cool for one of the Konoha Genin to replace an Anbu. Maybe they’ve been training for it for a while and can’t tell anyone, or we see an Anbu die and pass on their mask to them.

I absolutely agree with everything you said, on your last remark I think Lee or Neji would make for amazing ANBU members or even Shikamaru as a reluctant ANBU prospect. If Neji became an ANBU member only to be killed in that manner would lend to the gravitas of his death and the true loss to Konoha's overall fighting power. That would also serve to show the types of threats the ANBU deal with on their missions.
Look up the trope “conservation of Ninjutsu.” It’s essentially a trope in media where a single Ninja is treated as a massive threat. On the other hand, multiple ninjas are portrayed as easily beaten mooks. This particularly refers to the archetype of a ninja particularly, which fits the ANBI to a T.

I keep saying we need a spin-off series just focused on ANBU missions, with no characters as the primary focus but the exploits of these teams, something like a SEAL Team show but for ANBU. Also, outside of plot development, the fact that Genin were sent after Sasuke to ensure the last remaining Sharingan didn't leave the village is insane to me; the Sasuke retrieval mission is a mission you need an ANBU or at least Joounin team to get any results, it is such a severe threat to village security that killing Sasuke would be better than letting him fall into the hands of Orochimaru. But nope, let's send some children to potentially take on a sanin that killed the Third.
If I remember correctly the reason the Genin went instead was because Tsunade knew that if she sent anbu or Jonin it would have to be to kill Sasuke because he willingly left the village and was now a traitor. The genin went because they obviously just wanted him back and it was also not an official mission. Might be wrong but I think that’s what happened.
@@frescobar1839 I know but I would have probably ordered Sasuke’s assassination by the ANBU, especially if the risk of Orochimaru possessing a Sharingan is one I could not allow
@@VictorLaszlo46 understandable. Some ANBU members might've had an easier time dealing with the Sound 4. If it weren't for the narrative link between Naruto and Sasuke, some ANBU would've probably been a better pick
I think the best way to show off the ANBU would be to have Neji be one. Thus we have one to route for, and a way to see how this secret organization works.
I mean, they already did this with Danzo’s Kage bodyguards Fū and Torune. They were essentially the strongest members of their respective clans, which were two of the major clans of Konoha, the Yamanaka clan and the Aburame clan
I think an issue that hits the ANBU as well as the ninja system as a whole is a lack of mission diversity. Aside from the Naruto/Shippuden filler menagerie, we see an escort mission (that turns into a battle) and a retrieval mission (that turns into battles). In Shippuden we get retrieval missions (that turns into battles), assassination (?) mission, and then Naruto is sent to catalog animals on an island 'mission.' Since the story is about Naruto, we don't really get to see other types of missions, which I think really hurts the world building of Naruto. There surely must be missions where the ANBU actually have to go assassinate someone, or actually investigate and prevent some terrorist attacks, or gather intel on an enemy country or ninja. The biggest weakness of the ANBU from the story of Naruto in my opinion is just a lack of showcasing their strengths. I don't think most of them ARE one v one combat specialists. I think if you put them in their element of assassination or subterfuge, we would be able to get a much greater degree of respect for them. For example, I would chalk up the Kabuto victory over the ANBU as a wild suprise/preparation feat. He has Orochimaru's poisons and intel on ANBU tactics and formations, plus what he's gathered as a ROOT spy. The ANBU didn't even know there was a threat. I can't really expect that without either replacing ALL of the filler with just side-side character missions or extending Naruto to One Piece levels.

I think the main issue with the anbu is that the jonin/jonin level ninjas we interact with regularly are anbu level at minimum, and like nick said some of them were in the anbu and even the root at one point. The jonin that aren't at that level either end up as memes (kurenai for example) or are left unnamed. Another issue I think is that we don't see the missions the anbu go on. We don't actually get to see what makes the anbu so special aside from those that are special among the anbu like fu and torune. We're only really told how cool they are
Rebuilding the ambu 1 team work communication is important be open minded with your team 2 protect the village from kage level threats information leaks or search and destroy or capture 3 plans for worse case scenario In case of death of kage a rogue or greedy elders or Shinobi Basically 2 orders 1 if the kage or elder of said village was to be basically unfit for leadership is to be voted out of office or remove by force 2 if said kage or elder was warmonger or dictator hoards to much power for themselves and declines villages well being is to be killed immediately (Reference star wars order 65 and 66)
While I can agree that the Anbu were a VERY convenient tool for Kishimoto to basically use as expendable strength measuring sticks one has to remember that Anbu always seemed more akin to Chunin-level ninja who specialized at guarding and assassinating VIPs. Also, not all Anbu were designed equally. Obviously, the MC's ex-Anbu Sensei was always going to have a more noteworthy quality about them that would justify their survival over the nameless mobs and mooks even if they were fellow Anbu members. It would be akin to comparing the two Kohona Jonin Might Guy and Kurenai Yuhi. They both have the same rank but Might Guy is easily more beloved and powerful due to the writing and Kurenai will always be meme remembered as "girl who tried to hypnotize ITACHI" at best or "ASUMA'S 'wife'' at worst. Thus, I can agree with the solution of making them more sparse. In fact, go further and make it a requirement that Kages have to be ex-Anbu. My point is, make the Anbu rare absolute monsters in terms of battle power and tactics. Just do something that makes them unique again.
Hey Nick, I agree with the ideas you put forth for inserting more ANBU moments into the story. Your overall approach lines up with the adjustments I outlined in my IG post. Appreciate the attention you gave to the purple haired ninja as ANBU could have been distinguished by their wealth of strong Kunoichi.
I really like this concept for the anbu! I feel like it would add more to the feeling that the world of naruto feels more whole and the anbu feel more like hw they should rather than just nameless bodies to add to a bad guys pile to show how powerful he is

I love these kinds of videos because you can do SO MUCH with naruto in hindsight that would patch over some of the more obnoxious holes (i.e. the Anbu, Guy vs Madara, etc), and i love hearing the thoughts of someone so clearly invested and well read on every aspect of Naruto.
If the anbu members just took a minute to assess the situation they would have thought of destroying the roof or building the sound four ninjas were standing on to break the formation. I mean the weakness to that technique is so obvious
Assuming the barrier doesn't just make its own floor, which I think it does. But it would have been interesting and character defining for them to try only for it to not work.
@@LupineShadowOmega I don't think it had a floor because the roof wasn't flat and hiruzen and Orochimaru were walking on it. But I agree they should have tried more
One Idea I have would really require some (repeated) exposition from villans in order to pull off, but would have no other cost. There are some VERY powerful characters that have *come out of* the Anbu, over the years, so what if insead of all the Anbu being elite, it was more of a proving ground for those who are? what if whenever the Anbu show up, the bad guys get nervous about *which one of these goons is Kakashi?* or something similar. They aren't ALL impressive, but because they are masked, you never know which one of them deserves a flee-on-sight-order.
I think a good opportunity for Ambu of all villages to show their usefulness would be the Five Kage Summit. Imagine if the rest Sasuke's squad had to put up a desperate fight against those elite ninja and probably show off some impressive teamwork while they're doing it. Depending on how dramatic and complex this remade fight would be Taka might even need Obito's help to win since he's already going to save Sasuke's butt.
Hi Nick, How are ya? I want to thank you for your videos on Naruto. I am really grateful that I have someone that knows everything naruto and one I can trust. I have always felt that at least the Naruto/naruto shippuden fillers at least fit in with the anime and in Boruto they just felt very very out of place and annoying since they occupied more than the canon episodes....but hey, guess there is still a shining bit of gold in the dirt that are the manga parts :D ) so thank you very much. We live nearly on the opposite sides of the globe so when night comes around and the time to sleep arrives near, your video drops and I watch it, it's the perfect way to end the day for me, hey who can ignore the video of the man who did Phd on Naruto and the anime you love the most? Again, Thx a lot Nick, keep on going bud! ^-^
Okay to think about Obito's rage moment. It doesn't make sense for the mist to send that many anbu on that mission at all. The anbu from the mist just had to give the appearance that they were anbu to scare rin back to her village. It's perfectly reasonable that ninja, masters of deception, had a bunch of genin put on masks to scare them back to the village. Current head cannon, Obito's rampage was him killing genin in masks. Not anbu.
I think y'all are forgetting - WE knew they were trying to scare them back to the village but to the enemy it would appear that they were desperately trying to recapture them. In fact having a number like that was probably necessary to make it seem convincing. I think it just shows how dedicated they were to the ruse.
Giving Yugao a presence in a core quartet of named/significant ANBU with 3 others that actually do important things would also back up the faceless masses serving the Worf Effect and jobbing against for the badguys. Those 4 being ANBU and doing epic and critical high-diffficulty tasks would establish a floor for the guys getting wasted by the dozen just by nature of being in the ANBU as well.
I remember watching this and thinking [maybe around the exams I think???] "Man the only people who look and, sound, and act like traditional ninjas... kinda suck. Why are the ninjas in a ninja show the ones being the best ninjas, but losing every time?" After awhile I forget that Itachi and Kakashi were both Anbu because they are... strong. Important-ish, relevant to the story. Unlike the majorty of Anbu. I think the bald guy giving the paper exams was Anbu(active) until his death?
The four mask and four person team was a cool idea, but having the masks switch between people would help with the mysteries factor and I think make more sense as ninjas. However I think the team should be five. Leaving the captain and overall strongest one in the group to be the fith. In my opinion I think this would have been a good spot for Neji Hyuga to end up and a lot of Hyugas. Giving them a more dominant role in the village like the Uchihas.
I would place one in every village scene involving Naruto or the Hokage's family or at least imply it. Just a shadow, out of focus, tucked in the corner, but you never see them when Kakashi is around. Makes you start guessing who the secret Anbu are; becomes an easter egg like Panda-man in the One Piece manga. I'd also make it a point that the Anbu is no place for children like Sai, Tenzo, Itachi, etc.
"Go" means 5 Nick is referring to the "5 kage" And he cannot refer to all kage from big and small nations because there is no confirmation of small nations having an anbu
Personally I would have set all the filler episodes to flesh out these background characters that got forgotten. Canonize all of it. Manga short and sweet, anime a deep delve of lore, character development and the main story obviously.
After thinking about it a little, what if the Mist "Anbu" that Obito clapped weren't actually Anbu? The Mist could have just dressed a bunch of their chunin as Anbu to make Kakashi and Rin think they were up against Anbu. I imagine that some of them might have actually been Anbu to make sure the sealing worked, but they tossed a bunch of fodder in as a scare tactic. Kishimoto would 100% do something like that and just never actually tell readers/watchers that he did that
The ANBU are definitely one of my favorite groups in Naruto. In fact, I am guilty for hyping them up, after seeing Haku show out while dressed as one, plus there is Kakashi and Itachi, two very powerful ninja who were once in the ANBU. Whenever I spoke with my friends about the ANBU, I would always say that if I was in the Naruto Universe, I would LOVE to be an ANBU... and then of course I have to defend them when my friend brings up the short-comings of the group.
How to fix the anbu? Write a story with anbu characters as the lead. Seriously, every anbu story is great, the itachi light novels, the kakashi arc when anbu are the focal point they are badass.
First! Thank you Nick for posting this video today! I was just told that I have a non cancerous brain tumor which I did surgery for yesterday. This video has really brightened my day!
@@hilgigas09 the idea is to have them operate as ino-chino-cho, with idea if ever a member dies or we needed rush a new team together, we would have a descent baseline in team proficiency
His name is Raido ;) Anyways, one thing to note is actually different cloak colors! Black cloaks are regular members, and White cloaks are Captains. We always see black cloak or 'no cloak' ANBU members being the fodder, whereas the time we see the white cloak ANBU act, they, well, show at least Kage-level prowess when working as a team. (Remember the White Cloak ANBU at the barrier situation when the camera panned to him was always the one in the front aswell.) It's also important to note that who else was an ANBU Captain? Itachi. Kakashi. Yamato. (Genma maybe? I always assumed he was the leader of that 3 man team.) What do we see from the white cloaks? Prowess on the same relative level as young 3-tomoe Itachi, Kakashi, and Yamato. In the end, the issue really stems down to the fact that Kishimoto didn't differentiate them. You see black-cloaked people? Oh! That's the Konoha Police Force. Or "Oh, that's the X unit." You see white-cloaked people in masks? Run.
We see more Anbu members throughout the course of Naruto than we see Jonin. Jojin are the highest level military of a village. Anbu are the special ops. The story treats them in the opposite manner. It seems easier to become an Anbu than it is to become a Jonin. Switching who is on screen will make a lot of difference for both groups. Change 10 Anbu to 10 Jonin/ Special Jonin would do a lot.
I like the idea of hsbinf like four iconic anbu members who could be known only by their code names and masks, which would aldo influence designs and abilirird (ie. Tori, one with a bird mask and smaller frame but strong wind release and high speed, kuma with a large frame and powerful earth release and taijutsu, etc)
Fun little potential fact about Zabuza and Haku's relationship to the Hidden Mist ANBU. According to Zabuza's wiki, he was actually apart of the Hidden Mist ANBU himself. Would explain how he was so talented as hidden mist silent assassination techniques and was able to teach Haku so much about the hunter nin ANBU tactics.
Honestly the best way to buff the Anbu is to not have them be completely incompetent. Whenever we see them on screen it is either having failed a job or in the process of failing a job.
Wow, I had to google it because I didn't know he had a name, but I think you're talking about Raidō Namiashi with the veins or scars on half of his face
Obito with mangekyou sharingan, AAND hashirama cells... Yeah he'd wipe the floor with them 💀 mangekyou's only downside, is chakra consumption/going blind, hashirama cells continuously restore chakra, and heals the carrier 💀 it nullified the only downside of the sharingan
The solution is really simple, they should’ve been trained by jiraiya. Jiraiya had the most unique Justus for reconnaissance and the arts of barrier plus other unorthodox Justus like the dark swamp or toad shadow subjugation. After hiruzen’ s death , tsunade should have given the control of the ANBU to jiraiya to counter the roots of Danzo. Or jiraiya should’ve had his own special ANBU unit that helps him gather intel throughout the shinobi world serving as liaison between him and the hokage.
A great way to show anbu's power (albeit this isn't something that can be used repeatedly and is more an introduction to it) would be something similar to Mystogan's introduction in fairy tail, mystogan for a large part of early fairy tail is like anbu, he is a single guy who wears a mask and is an S rank mage known to be one of the strongest in the series until that point and therefore he doesn't join the fight very often but how they introduce just how powerful he is, is downright beautiful. So fairy tail is fighting against an enemy guild named phantom lord and not only are their main forces comparable to fairy tail's available forces in power the biggest leg up they have is that have 50 other sub guilds under them so in terms of manpower they vastly overpower fairy tail, so the arc continues and after a very hard fought battle fairy tail comes out victorious against the main branch taking out the phantom lord guild master in the process, then mystogan who wasn't available during the entire arc is seen by one of the friends of the fairy tail guild master and she says how they could have used his help and he should have been there until, a wind blows and flags start flying, flags of every sub guild phantom Lord had under them as mystogan single handedly took down all their reinforcements out, It's a bone chilling moment
I would approach it differently, you know how they have different colour masks, we could have blue be representative of special chunin/jonin, and red being mini kage level. Blue coloured anbu would be chunnins or special jonins focusing on what anbu are good at. They would still be cherry picked, but they wouldn't necessarily be great at combat other than assassination. Then there would be red masked anbu and those guys would be rare and elite ninjas, captains of anbu squads, versatile in combat and infiltration, but like stated, still good at assassination and with mental capacity to kill target out of combat, so not something like a loud Might Guy who was rejected from anbu, but then you could see red masked itachi or kakashi taking lifes. In this way you could know that if blue masked guys are slaughtered, that's most likely due to them being forced into fight that they weren't ready or the target was anticipating them. If we were shown anbu being led by red masked and blue masked following orders and together doing a good job, then we would get appreciation, but could still use blue anbu as measuring sticks.
100% agree with you on this! I think another thing to point out is that, the only noteworthy things we do see from the Anbu are only done by the Anbu Captains, such as those who trapped Pain's summonings. So when I see any random Anbu wearing just their standard uniform or a black cloak, I am not really intimidated. But when I see one wearing a white cloak, then THAT'S when I'm actually a bit alarmed.
Well, I think that the ranks go up to ANBU Chief. As in, I believe Danzo was appointed ANBU Chief by Hiruzen, and that's why they made the misconception that The Root was the ANBU training division. Danzo gave lots of ANBU ops access to Root training, anyone who wanted it really. Danzo did this so he'd have Hiruzen surrounded by his spies at all times.
I've got a different theory about 100 healings and 8 gates interaction. With the 8 gates requiring you to stab your heart to draw all your chakra to it. With the 100 healing you store extra chakra in your seal. My guess would be the heart's injury would draw the chakra with both techniques. My theory would be the 8 gates would take the chakra and use it over the healing. Kinda like putting gasoline on I fire a small fire could be put out but a big fire will burn it up.
totally agree with your proposal, Anbu members should be more than just plot device to show a new character is powerful and having cool interactions with Akatsuki members and chase them away or saving someone in a critical moment could do that, and you can always justify that they are not in all of the fights because they are few and they have many missions, but showing them to be more common than genins only make things worse
My theory was that it wasn’t actual anbu chasing rin and kakashi but just top regular ninja with anbu masks on. The most wanted it too like real but they wouldn’t need or want to waste serious man power for that so they probably had 1 or 2 real ones and the rest is just fake ones
@19:53 - "Kinda paints the ANBU in the Narutoverse like cops in GTA; that is to say that they're Stupid!...but it doesn't matter how many you kill, there's going to be more." 😂😂
You do a fantastic job of explaining what the Anbu actually are, it's difficult to find any actual lore that's accurate on these guys do and how they're organized
Instead of having grey jackets with oni masks as measuring sticks, the same facelessness effect could of been achieved by having green flack jackets with ninja masks, like the ones worn by sound nin during the Konoha crush, and then you only throw in a grey flack jacket with an omi mask to really spice things up.
Weren’t all the anbu “chasing” after kakashi and Rin in order for the 3 tails to get back to the Konoha for destructive purposes? I guess it would make sense to have extra anbu to aid in the mission. 20 probably would have made more sense but it’s not terrible in my mind.
The Anbu became the Nameless Red Shirts of Naruto, which is really sad. They act more like beat cops rather than S.W.A.T cops, yes they are both branches of the police force but obviously S.W.A.T has more training to break down your doors, punch through walls and drop kick your jaw off than regular police. Going off of that last bit I thought it would be cool if the noodle guy’s daughter was an Anbu who would be nice to Naruto since she knows him through her dad’s shop and is privy to more information than the regular ninja. I think it would also be cool for one of the Konoha Genin to replace an Anbu. Maybe they’ve been training for it for a while and can’t tell anyone, or we see an Anbu die and pass on their mask to them.
Excuse my French... BUT WHY THE ACTUAL FUCK ISNT THIS BEING TALKED ABOUT RN!!! NICK I DEMAND (sorry I know it's rude I mean "ASK" but it's not as dramatic...) A VIDEO ON THIS WHAT IF RN EVEN JUST OG NARUTO!!! BRO THIS SO GOOD!!!! IF NICK DONT MAKE A VIDEO YOU HAVE TO MAKE A VIDEO OR A FAN FIC OR SOMETHING AND SEND ME THE LINK I WOULD ACTUALLY LOVE THIS!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂❤
@nickglasscock1100 I didn't think about Neji. That's a really good idea. That would also explain why he's not super involved in a lot of Shippuden.
@@Reed5016 yo...
They sent genin because the village just got steamrolled by Orochimaru and they were low on manpower
Yeah having at least one of the main kids join would make it much more interesting. Would have to be a prodigy so Neji works well
Or Shino! Shino would be great as an Anbu.
My canon is Shino is an undercover Anbu so deep that they forgot he was a member. @@wanderingshade8383
@@wanderingshade8383Considering it's one of his clan that merc'd a powerful Uchiha, Shisui, he'd be fantastic for this job.
In Shippuden we get retrieval missions (that turns into battles), assassination (?) mission, and then Naruto is sent to catalog animals on an island 'mission.'
Since the story is about Naruto, we don't really get to see other types of missions, which I think really hurts the world building of Naruto.
Naruto is one of the things I hold most dear in my heart. Watched the whole thing 3 times and read it 2 times. Your content keeps me connected to it and also wakes up new thoughts and helps me close a load of thoughts I have had over my nearly 17 years with Naruto.
Thanks Nick and keep it up bro! Love you man
One thing i have to commend Nick, is how you do a UNIQUE plug for your content and channels every, single, opening, you film. Every time, and CONTEXTUALLY it flows perfectly every time too. Scripted or not, other creators just phone it in and paste the same recording every time. Kudo's to you.
I hate having to skip the whole thing everytime in every video
I literally skip a solid 10 min of every video and NEVER have I felt like I missed anything and the video still makes sense. The first 10 min of his videos are legit just excessive intro and him repeating the same points in different words
It's called a Segway 💀
I love that about his shit
@@Theartistblockeh not really, it’s more of a background intro giving examples and similarities or differences along the same topic. But tbh if you know the show you don’t really need it.
Love how Dorthy just kinda was in the background chillin
“A spiritual awakening” you got me rolling 🤣🤣 absolutely love ever video I ever seen from you can wait for more ❤️ you’re content and talking points are actually 🔥🔥
We're only really told how cool they are
Rebuilding the ambu
1 team work communication is important be open minded with your team
2 protect the village from kage level threats information leaks or search and destroy or capture
3 plans for worse case scenario
In case of death of kage a rogue or greedy elders or Shinobi
Basically 2 orders
1 if the kage or elder of said village was to be basically unfit for leadership is to be voted out of office or remove by force
2 if said kage or elder was warmonger or dictator hoards to much power for themselves and declines villages well being is to be killed immediately
(Reference star wars order 65 and 66)
Bruh, 25:42 genma is the toothpick dude, Izuma and Kotetsu are the two always hanging out together
26:00 would also fill as an explanation as to why jiriya couldn’t become an edo tensei during the war.

5:09 i love that cartoon network watermark
I love these kinds of videos because you can do SO MUCH with naruto in hindsight that would patch over some of the more obnoxious holes (i.e. the Anbu, Guy vs Madara, etc), and i love hearing the thoughts of someone so clearly invested and well read on every aspect of Naruto.
If the anbu members just took a minute to assess the situation they would have thought of destroying the roof or building the sound four ninjas were standing on to break the formation. I mean the weakness to that technique is so obvious
I wish they put common sense in these shows lmao
Nick I have to say you have completely changed the way I look at Naruto and honestly all forms of fiction. Keep it up bro!
I watched naruto 2 and half years ago and have watched many other anime since yet nothing tops Naruto in my heart as my favourite anime. And you made my love for it grow even more (and changed my initial perceptions about Boruto too lol, God the filler is more unbearable than Naruto/ Shippuden....
1:50 Danzo stole the best one's tbh
And probably caused a good chunk to die.
Still wouldn't require actual anbus to give that appearance, they could have been genin (or more likely chunin) in masks@@nobodyknowsforsure
@@shadow-fayeAll head canon not actually ever confirmed. But it would not have been a bad idea in the story but still head canon.
The Anbu that were in front of the purple barrier probably could’ve done some damage to the sound 4 that put up and maintained the barrier.
His name is Raido, and yes Nick, i did have their names memorized.
It is absolutely hilarious to me that Aoba and Kotetsu have Funko Pops. HAHAHA
Nick finally making his Make Anbu Great Again video
nick is one of the best anime youtubers out there
The four mask and four person team was a cool idea, but having the masks switch between people would help with the mysteries factor and I think make more sense as ninjas. However I think the team should be five. Leaving the captain and overall strongest one in the group to be the fith. In my opinion I think this would have been a good spot for Neji Hyuga to end up and a lot of Hyugas. Giving them a more dominant role in the village like the Uchihas.
I think the Anbu played a really Good Vital Role In OG Naruto and Maybe Shippuden
ayo i know the guy with the veins on his face
his name is raido
iirc, he was one of the guys who fights hidan and kakuzu when asuma dies
Kishimoto gave the anbu a few monster ninjas including kakashi, itachi, yamato, sai snd everyone's favorite torturer
RAIDO!! Raido Namiashi has the coolest unknown name lmao
(The Jonin with the veiny scarring.)
Nick!? Why do u keep saying goKage?? I thought it was just kage when talking about them all? 🦁
"Go" means 5
Nick is referring to the "5 kage"
And he cannot refer to all kage from big and small nations because there is no confirmation of small nations having an anbu
I like the idea of a faceless organisation that only show work and do the most important work
Personally I would have set all the filler episodes to flesh out these background characters that got forgotten. Canonize all of it. Manga short and sweet, anime a deep delve of lore, character development and the main story obviously.
Naruto Villain: Tell me…are you familiar with the Worf Effect? 😏😈
Anbu: Oh shit! 😨
Kishimoto would 100% do something like that and just never actually tell readers/watchers that he did that
Great take here man 💪🏼👌🏼
The torture expert of Konoha, Ibiki Morino
Anbu dont need buffing, Danzo just kidnapped the best one 😂
They get treated like those bad guys power rangers would fight 😂
First! Thank you Nick for posting this video today! I was just told that I have a non cancerous brain tumor which I did surgery for yesterday. This video has really brightened my day!
My biggest is getting the kids out of it, maybe set up 2-4 year special training camp for them, different roles of specialization
Specialization would make them Tokubetsu Jounin like Aoba and Ebisu. Probably would have been better to make all of them Anbu.
@@hilgigas09 the idea is to have them operate as ino-chino-cho, with idea if ever a member dies or we needed rush a new team together, we would have a descent baseline in team proficiency
limit them to 10, make them low kage level, give them unique summons and make their death have a impact on the village
His name is Raido ;)
Anyways, one thing to note is actually different cloak colors! Black cloaks are regular members, and White cloaks are Captains. We always see black cloak or 'no cloak' ANBU members being the fodder, whereas the time we see the white cloak ANBU act, they, well, show at least Kage-level prowess when working as a team. (Remember the White Cloak ANBU at the barrier situation when the camera panned to him was always the one in the front aswell.)
It's also important to note that who else was an ANBU Captain? Itachi. Kakashi. Yamato. (Genma maybe? I always assumed he was the leader of that 3 man team.)
What do we see from the white cloaks?
To be fair, that Anbu was clearly already jumping mid air when the barrier was put up.
The law of inertia? In my anime??
27:50 Raidō I think could be wrong

I need a Dorothy in my life. She's chillin nearby while Nick's working. i love them
The solution is really simple, they should’ve been trained by jiraiya.
Yes the Anbu should have had speciality jutsu only they know. That's why Danzo root was strong because they all had specializations.
Dorothy and the pup in the background was the best part of the video for sure
If they send the anbu after me I’m fine , they send a rouge ninja after me I’m in trouble
It is very telling when most fanfics and good fanfics at that give the Anbu more respect than canon.
Do you have any anbu fanfic recommendation?
Your gf in the back getting puppy love was my favorite part
All the Anbu really does is act as secret services.
totally agree with your proposal, Anbu members should be more than just plot device to show a new character is powerful and having cool interactions with Akatsuki members and chase them away or saving someone in a critical moment could do that, and you can always justify that they are not in all of the fights because they are few and they have many missions, but showing them to be more common than genins only make things worse
My theory was that it wasn’t actual anbu chasing rin and kakashi but just top regular ninja with anbu masks on. The most wanted it too like real but they wouldn’t need or want to waste serious man power for that so they probably had 1 or 2 real ones and the rest is just fake ones
@19:53 - "Kinda paints the ANBU in the Narutoverse like cops in GTA; that is to say that they're Stupid!...but it doesn't matter how many you kill, there's going to be more."
😂😂
You are legitimately my favorite RUclipsr to watch
20 probably would have made more sense but it’s not terrible in my mind.
the ANBU are the stormtroppers of the Naruto Universe.
the way yu say haku lol dude
The Anbu became the Nameless Red Shirts of Naruto, which is really sad. They act more like beat cops rather than S.W.A.T cops, yes they are both branches of the police force but obviously S.W.A.T has more training to break down your doors, punch through walls and drop kick your jaw off than regular police. Also hi Dorthy and sweet doggo!

The reason it was that many Anbu because she had the three tails sealed into her and they probably where going to invade konoha with a lot of them.
The ANBU suffers from a combination of the Worf Effect and the laws of Conservation of Ninja.
