Nice review of my home park. Unfortunately, it can suffer from operational issues. But it’s weird they had nobody at the entrance to a closed ride. Usually there will be a clueless teenager who has no idea why the ride is closed or when it might reopen.
The fact that they got rid of the Goliath is what really 6 flags ne. I understand it broke down too much and had its issues but it was still a great ride.
This is NOT a normal park because due to where it is, it has too many restrictions. Most videos want to see a launch coaster but don't do their homework first. That can never happen here because of the amount of power needed. This is a small town and was not built for a park like this. They would never get permission to change the grid of the whole town just to add one coaster that probably wouldn't fit anyway.
SFNE was also not originally a Six Flags park. This parks stands as one of the oldest parks in America. Right up there with Cedar Point in Ohio and their neighbor park Lake Compounce in Connecticut. You feel this small town the moment you drive away from the park; looking for something cheaper to eat then theme park food. This park is small, definitely gets overlooked by the enthusiasts. But when you don't wanna deal with the lines at my home park GA, GA competes with some of top performing coasters in the country like at Cedar Point and Magic Mountain. This park has its charm but yes, I don't see them having the room or infrastructure to build anymore record setting coasters. Not unless to remove Riddler's Revenge, the Joker Clone, Flashback and arguably, Thunderbolt. I love woodies, even when they start getting a little rough. But I think it's peaked. Removing Riddler's and Thunderbolt would free up some power and offer a lot of space for a new ride. And if Disney is willing to take the heat retheming Splash Mountain, Six Flags can remove the less popular rides to bring back the thrill seekers
That is correct. It was a larger rider who also had cerebral palsy and limited body control, and he fell off toward the end. The state of Massachusetts actually mandated the change, but Intamin didn't pull it off all that well. Still, for me it doesn't ruin the ride.
You complain about the restraints on Superman… I hope you know that someone fell out of the ride in 2004, dying, which is the reason for the restraints.
The reason he fell out is the staffs fault not the restrains, he was too big for the restrains so when the seatbelt didn’t click (that’s supposed to mean don’t let them on the ride they let him go into the first row which for some reason had bigger restraints and he flew out of the ride but if they actually did their job correctly none of it would’ve happened
Honestly it isn’t surprising that the joker was closed. It feels awful, and personally I will never ride it again. The first and only time I went on it, no staff checked the restraints and none of them listened to my group when we told them my boyfriend’s seatbelt didn’t click. So, on the ride in the middle of a spin his seatbelt came undone. One of the scariest experiences ever! And they did nothing when we reported it afterwards.
Six Flags Great Escape when? Would love to see a review since it's relatively closer to Six Flags New England. As a new enlgander myself we go there because it's closer.
This park is ok at best. If in the area it's good. But I wouldn't travel to it again. As for the rides being out of operation. That's a six flags given. They can't seem to keep their rides running. This six flags is way better than six flags great adventure Nj. If you want a day of spending Disney level money at a ghetto trash park. Then Six flags Nj is the place for you. Rides are so in need of maintenance they will break your bones. Some of the rides there actually have broken bones in recent years. A bottle of water is $5 from a machine. This is a bargain compared to the hot food available in the park. But then again, they over start charging you right at the parking lot.
@@CoasterLegendYT that's probably why most of the rides were closed. Id recommend going back on a weekend as they're open later and usually everything is open.
@@CoasterLegendYT Just stopped by Wednesday, June 3rd and everything was open and there were no lines. Walked right onto everything. Except the tomahawk section in crackaxle canyon was gated off still.
2 things 1, its a zierer tivoli 2. I went there this year and found it to be a great time, but I was luckier, though for me the 4d free spin never flipped so you didn't miss out on too much haha
I'm 47 tears old. When I was little I lived in Franklin MA, and My Father's Parents lived in Agawam. (Actually My Grandfather Still does. He's still kicking) My Sister and I would spend a week at their house during the summer and we'd always spend a day at Park before it became Six Flags. It used to be Riverside Park.
Six Flags New England is an odd duck--it's the only large amusement park in the region, with no real competition, and its top two are the best roller coasters in New England; but considered as a park, it's inferior to the smaller parks in the region. It's got a bit of old-school ambiance left over from its past identity as Riverside Park, in the front area, but the Six Flags-ification of the rest of it is evident. Wicked Cyclone and Superman are amazing, world-class rides, and Batman and Thunderbolt are solid, underrated supporting rides; but, yeah, it drops off rapidly from there. I am not that bothered by Superman's restraints, which most coaster enthusiasts seem to really hate. Blizzard River is well-themed (I think it was originally supposed to have a vaguely Gotham City vibe, like so many of the park's rides, with some kind of association with the Penguin) but I found it kind of disappointing, tame as these rides go. It needs more large family rides to attract the family clientele they supposedly want. Quantum Accelerator is a step in the right direction. A Mine Train-level coaster and any major dark ride would help. Some old-school family rides--a Ferris wheel, a skyride. Anything like that. They do have a good old carousel. The landscaping needs major upgrades from the Six Flags parking lot aesthetic of much of it. The waterpark is surprisingly big and good. It's advertised as the biggest waterpark in the region, and it might be--Hurricane Harbor alone is about the same size as Water Country in Portsmouth, NH. I particularly like the lazy river and the family raft slide, Swiss Family Toboggan. There hasn't been anything new in a while there, though.
I absolutely miss the Riverside of the 90s. I also think it is criminal they took out the Giant Ferris wheel. How can you have an ammusement park without a Ferris Wheel?
Nah bro. On Riddler's, I couldn't even focus on my surroundings. I was busy calculating how much my neck and shoulder therapy would be. Did I even talk about the major concussion?
This Might Sound Very Specific But I Was Watching Airtime Thrills/Chris's Six Flags Ranking And I Saw He Put New England Above Over Texas And Over Georgia In All Honesty I Don't Think Its Even Better Then Discovery Kingdom
I do enjoy this park when I'm bored of SFGA. I will say i wish superman uses the same restraints as on Nitro. That restraint is so comfortable as well as giving your legs room to swing!
Considering the history of safety issues with the ride, including a death prior to the implementation of the current restraint system, I think they are unlikely to want to meddle with it.
@@elaine_of_shalott6587That's fair. Still, the current restraints limit my desire to ride it endlessly. Weeks after going; the bones on the outside of my leg are still sore from Superman and Wicked Cyclone. Nothing debilitating, just getting older.
I live in neighboring Chicopee, and I hated it when it was bought from the family who used to own the park when it was originally Riverside Park. I still hate it today. 😢😢😢
I like Six Flags New England even though I’m from the Midwest I went there and the top two was good plus Batman, but then the rest of them were just clones or or family coasters. My favorite part is that they’re getting a new launch coaster where goliath was
I live in agawam and was a season pass holder for years- this park is an absolute dump and the rides are not worth the trip. Most of the buildings/storefronts are closed.
I live in Springfield, just across the Connecticut River from Six Flags, haven't been back to six flags since 1999, waited in line for 3 hour's in the rain for superman and still didn't get on it as I gave up and went home. Will never go back.
You chose a bad day was there the other day and was able to get on after 10 minutes and with season passes being as cheap as they are there's no better deal out there
I remember when this was Riverside Park growing up. Also, I laughed how he mispronounced Agawam!
Wicked cyclone is my #1 ride

It’s funny because I’ve been to this six flags and your right. Any question I ask them comes with a response of I don’t know
Lol so true 😅
30 minutes from Springfield? excuse me? its like 10 mins max
The fact that they got rid of the Goliath is what really 6 flags ne. I understand it broke down too much and had its issues but it was still a great ride.
To be fair the pandemonium isnt a clone it was the first then gerstlauer started cloning it, which is why it actually uses the terrain

They're adding a launch coaster on the old Goliath plot
Oh the irony of this comment...
They are make ng launch now
I’m pretty sure the Superman restraints were changed after someone flew off the ride and died years back.
This is exactly why the restraints were changed. I remember the year this unfortunate event happened all too well.
Exactly. It really was a very unfortunate accident. I was going to SFNE many times each years in the late 1990s and 2000s.

If it’s just the seat belt you should be fine as restraints are held down by hydraulics, the seatbelt is just a fail safe.
This is weird. They never usually have one train. I went 2 weeks ago and they had 2 trains.
