Bias FX is great. Definetly, but I already own Bias Desktop. Maybe I'll spend money again on X-Mas... ;)

I just have a stupid question. I am just using the line6 Pod GX(usb audio interface) to connect my guitar to a 8GB Ram Macbook pro. And I get a noticeable latency when I use the BIAS FX Desktop in the Garageband. So I am thinking to buy something like focusrite scarlett(usb) or clarett(thunderbolt). Will it help to reduce the latency? I actually don't mind to pay more if the thunderbolt can really reduce the latency problem. Also, does it help if I upgrade my Macbook Pro's Ram to 16GB Ram? Upgrading audio interface or upgrading the Ram would help more? Thx!

Hi, for latency, the audio interface is key. The focusrite options are very good, no latency issues. Rock on.

Just bought the focusrite clarett two weeks ago. In short, it works much better than line6 Pod Gx. (Remark: Pod Gx is a good device. But it is not supposed to be used in that way) But it needs some tricks when you use focusrite clarett with BIAS FX.
At the beginning, I tried to increase the preamps of the audio interface and it added many noise to the sound in BIAS. So I just thought I shouldn't use the preamps. But I found that the noise gate in BIAS would cut the sound very unnatural and I nearly couldn't play the legato. And I spent lots of time to adjust any setting in BIAS and it didn't help. (At that moment, I really thought focusrite clarett and BIAS were suck.) However, I figured out how they work later.
If you increase the preamps of the audio interface, it would increase the noise in BIAS. But you just need to increase the threadhold of the noise gate in BIAS at the same time. After I adjust these two things to the right amount, the noise gate in BIAS works naturally and I could play the legato. Furthermore, I could get a good playing feel which is similar to line6 Pod HD.
Also, I find that the single coil guitar needs more preamps and it makes my strat sounds much heavier. Besides, even with the same guitar, you may also need to adjust the preamps of the audio interface for different kinds of sounds (e.g. clean sound or high gain sound). Otherwise, it would sometime give you a strange playing feel. By comparison, Pod HD is easier to get a good playing feel. But with BIAS, I can easily reamp the guitar sound afterwards and make the mixing much easier. So I would rather spend more time to adjust the setting in BIAS to get a good playing feel.
Lastly, I use focusrite clarett & BIAS FX with garageband and it would use around 25%~30% CPU & ~700MB RAM for my Macbook Pro. Although I cannot adjust the sample rate and buffer size in garageband, I couldn't feel noticeable latency and it works for me.
I really look forward to seeing more updates from Positive Grid. Thx!

What drums were used on this demo?
