This starter army and Gentleman's War starter box is where I am jumping into. Been playing Bolt Action for 3 weeks.
Your channel has been a great resource for me. Keep it up

The Panzer 3 is the best German tank for its points value. 200pts for a medium tank with a medium anti-tank gun. Not many points used up and plentiful enough fire power against most opponents

Most likely gonna get this and gentleman's war starter as my intro into bolt action. Love the desert/Africa campaign theme!

One side note though, the boots on these models are different than the regular German army. There are gaiters over the boots and the trousers come farther down on the boot.
No one will really notice if you mix in with regular German infantry if they are all painted the same but some might be sticklers for detail so I thought I might point that out.

Eyed the Afrika Korps box for the longest time. Besides just being a cool history box, it's also got a really nice mix of units, and is more affordable than a lot of the other boxes, as mentioned.

I bought two of these and run twin platoons of vets with two 88s, some trucks and half tracks and the rest all infantry/support weapons. No armored vehicles aside from a 251. Its a really fun list to run.

Pretty much the best starter set. And of your getting the Gentlemen's War box it goes together perfectly. An extra 24 men and an armoured car is all you need...
Other than transports... Lots of transports.

The last levy is the best starter set imo, Hitler youth and Volkstern, the fact that if you take tanks they will probably run out of fuel is also pretty cool, I enjoyed painting them as they were all dirty and heavily weathered, must admit it's a bit odd painting children with pigtails and panzerfausts though, the whole thing is a bit disturbing but morbidly fascinating, the set I got was 3 of the infantry sets, a late war Panther with the IR upgrade package and a load of Stg44 armed troops also with IR sights and backpacks . I think it was called the Nightjager upgrade pack, years ago you used to get the option of a starter set then could add several upgrade packs at a discount to build a big army from the start, the whole army apart from the Panther was full metal.

Love the look of this army , really neat looking kit. I do like the desert campaign but over all I’m a late war German fan for obvious reasons.

This is a great set. Only thing needed are some trucks. But I’d say that about pretty much every starter set.

If you don't like metal or resin kits I would suggest looking up Rubicon Models as an alternative. They have just about everything under the sun in plastic and the models were pretty much made for Bolt Action.

It's a Flak 37 not Flak 88... it's got an 8.8cm gun hence the '88 nickname and the Brits called German anti-air guns ack-ack because the German for 8.8 is something like act-und-act (not a German speaker but you get the idea.

So can I play this army in any theatre? I don't have a ton of money, but want to get into the game and can afford 1 starter box.

Would honestly like a commonwealth jungle fighting force made up almost entirely of gurkha's and chindit's but should really finish these Russians I've got.
