Uh, no. Those weren't backup singers, they were dancers.
I don't want to say "just dancers", because they were pretty dope.
Minako Maruyama is from elevenplay, BABYMETAL choreographer MIKIKO's modern dance group.
Minami Tsukui is from Japan Action Enterprise. She does her own stunts in movies.
BABYMETAL have never had backup singers on stage other than Yui and Moa.
Of course there are backing tracks for things like Su's harmonies that would be impossible to produce live.
The 2018 "Dark Side" year was a difficult time for the group, but these 'Akatsuki' performances with the fight scene, as well as Su's solo version of 'Kagerou' (known to fans at the time as 'Tattoo') were highlights for me.

Akatsuki is a tribute to X Japan. A few of their songs are. like "No Rain No Rainbow." Their creator and producer Kobametal is a big fan of theirs.

It's definitely has X-Japan influence, but what is interesting... X-Japan had a Last Live concert at Tokyo Dome a few days after her birth, it's like the Fox God choose her to continue Japanese metal after X-Japan was gone.

although i don't like live compilations for first time watching at least this one is a compilation of Dark Night Carnival era tour (2018), i love the aesthetics too, they look so badass and give the shows something different.
You mentioned X-Japan and indeed Babymetal pray many homages to them throughout their career, they're very good friends. When you hear she starts this song shouting: _Akatsuki Daaaaa!_ that's a reference to _Kurenai_ when that song was singing live.
The fight was unique too and a different version during 10 Babymetal Budokan was performed, mixing Unfinished Version with original and the fight between "muscle-metal" too.
Since this is a SuMetal solo, there's no backup singers or anyone else involving on vocals, MoaMetal is resting during this for next solo, or Black Babymetal song before YuiMetal left the group.
Yes, she did musical theater, she was formed at ASH (Actor School Hiroshima) her birthplace and town.
    Thanks for your analysis. \m/

Good reaction. As you saw, this was a compilation video. It was taken from performances in 2018 - where Su-metal was in the pixie armour costume with the leather band on her head it was on the main tour (one of the US tour shows I think) and where she had the knots and feathers in her hair it was the Dark Night Carnival shows in Japan that ended the tour.
The dancers (not singers) who did the fight choreo were supporting BABYMETAL throughout the 2018 tour - they were affectionately known as Muscle Metal by the fans.
Funny you should mention it reminded you of X Japan - 'Akatsuki' references and pays homage to the X Japan classic 'Kurenai'. BABYMETAL do take some inspiration from and pay homage to X Japan in a couple of songs and in a lot of what they do in their performances.
The Kami Band - BABYMETAL's support band - first appeared in October 2012. They are the very best session musicians Japan had to offer. Before then, as somebody told you, they sang live but to a backing track with pre-recorded instrumentals.
The Kami Band were phased in gradually after it had been decided BABYMETAL would separate from their parent Idol group (they started as a sub-unit with little or no expectation of being anything more than a short lived experiment) to become an independent band in their own right, which happened in 2013.
At first the Kami band played the encores in a few shows and supported BABYMETAL at a couple of festivals. They became the full time support for all live shows from March 2014 and have been with them ever since.
The Kami Band swaps musicians in and out according to their own commitments and availability, but there has always been a hard core of the same people - until 2019 when BABYMETAL did an extended tour of the US and at the start of 2020 another lengthy tour of the UK and Europe. For those tours the Kami Band of the West (American musicians) were introduced.
For the tour finale - Legend Metal Galaxy - BABYMETAL played two big shows where they played all but one of the songs from the third album plus a few old favourites - a completely different set list each night.
Night one the Kami Band of the East played, on night two it was the Kami Band of the West. For the final song on each night BABYMETAL were supported by both Kami Bands ... 4 lead guitarists, 2 bassists and two incredible drummers.

A Babymetal show is closer to a Broadway musical than a rock concert. So you are going to get a professionally produced show with fantastically talented and professional performers. That level of talent extends into the song writing as well and so the whole package is immensely satisfying. That said, it's Su's ability to deliver the emotional content of a song that really stands out for me and in the earlier incarnation of BM the chemistry between Su, Moa and Yui and the audience was special.

From the Babymetal Reactor Resource ruclips.net/video/q40VmTHSh4c/видео.html
Going forward, if reactors want to keep reacting to the videos, I've come up with a solution that will make it possible to continue using the videos with logos that have already been tested against blocks.
    I've made a spreadsheet - docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ZYdthVAHYaOAYL6AuhVOHotQinMoPPFEuspqDMIIGD4/edit#gid=0
with links to both the logo videos and the non logo videos and are hosing them on a Russian social media site that won't remove them, and is out of the reach of the copyright trolls. There are a bit over 30 videos on there now, but I'll keep uploading more every day until they're all back up. I'll also be adding new videos that I'll test on an alt RUclips account before adding to the spreadsheet.
If you can't access the spreadsheet for whatever reason, here are direct links to both the non logo videos and the videos with logos:
    No logos - ok.ru/video/c6630874
    With logos - ok.ru/video/c7184602
For reactors that want to put your own logo over the videos, here is a link to the logos I use that are already made transparent - drive.google.com/file/d/1JUVfJGp36xR2n1FHl7PzRIxXhA5P4VyW/viewor you can use whatever logo you'd like.
You can download the videos, which I recommend since the site can be a bit laggy sometimes, from this free website - sovid.net/ I recommend using the "HD" option when downloading to keep the file size reasonably small.
Although there are other videos on my channel there, only use the ones on the spreadsheet because some of the other non logo videos aren't RUclips safe.
    Kitsunes UP!

Nice reaction. babymetal only has a few actual MV's. So go ahead and watch them. It will also show some of the dance moves you will see during their live performances. As for this song I like every versions of it. Babymetal has done a few different versions of their songs. That's part of the fun seeing them live. You never know what your going to see. But you know it's going to be amazing.

I dont understand vocals the way you do obviously, but I have been a metal fan / musician my whole life and I am now 48 years old...I discovered Babymetal last year and this was third song of theirs I heard. I LOVE this girl's voice so much! This song is so beautiful to me,the vocal patterns, the way the music complements them and her overall passion and commitment are so clear...she cares SO MUCH about every note...just breathtaking, literally and figuratively.

The only video I would say it worth watching is the one for Karate. Also compilations are the devil. No backup singers either.

1 thing to note is that unlike many compilation videos that choose audio from 1 show with clips from many, this one seems to have audio from both which is why it sounds like there are backup singers. This song is a Su Metal solo. On your own time you should watch the red night show of this performance. Also give the Unfinished version ago. Great song.
Also not sure whos giving you that info but no, those girls that came out are dancers only. Backing tracks are used in Babymetal performances but not for Su's primary vocals.

Not a very great compilation, in my opinion. Better to watch individual shows, even though they can run into copyright issues. The go-to performances of Akatsuki is normally Budokan Black Night (2014) for the regular version, and Legend 1997 (2013) for the "unfinished" version. And I would actually recommend you try the "unfinished" version next! Although it's technically the same song, the arrangement and performance of it is so drastically different. And the singing is very impressive. Give it a go, dude!

    • @jeffschreifels8651
      @jeffschreifels8651 2 года назад +1

This compilation isn't that bad. They stick to just a couple performances and they are both in the same year instead of mixing many different performances where they go from red tutus to black in rapid jump cuts. The Budokan black night video is awesome but I like to see a different one once in a while.

Nice & thanks again from Japan 有り難う💛。As Grington300 300 commented below, this is a compilation of two shows in 2018. Now in 2021, on Feb.19, Akatsuki again became a very special song for BABYMETAL fans. This song had not been performed for 2 years and 4 months, but they revived it that day incorporating multiple stage effects and production. (fighting choreo by 2 muscular female dancers is just one of them) Honestly I can not remember clearly what I witnessed at the venue because it was too surprising and too mesmerizing. I have to confirm it when the official video is released. There is one certain thing, however. I felt celestial bliss there, especially with Su's more matured voice.
