Once, during a cold winter's day with some snow on the ground, my f cat decided to run outside when I had to open the door for some reason. She sniffed the cold, saw the snow, and promptly ran back inside! She never did that trick again. Miss that little furball!
Tommy has a pretty sweet life! Two houses, one where he can explore outside the comfort of a few metres around his door stoop with the supervision of his human. And full command of the indoors of his city home with a heated bed and chicken for dinner and his tiger (who I’m sure travels with him to the country home). And of course his lawyer on speed dial!

Feral cats becoming part of a household is the absolute best. Mine came in as kittens and have no interest in going outside, unless the dogs are out. Then they stand at the door and wait for their dogs to come in to receive rubs.
I have to point out an error or two here, please forgive me. You didn't adopt a wild cat, Tommy hired you. Two, it's not the rain that is making him irritated, it's the guy with the camera making it impossible to stalk anything. I'm so glad you and he are together, he couldn't have found another to love him more. 💞❤

My two ferals are the same. Once they got a taste of the good life, there was no going back. They have never even gone to the door or tried to get out. They are happy home campers.
Our tuxedo used to go to the back door to be let out, it was a semi-rural area and she had the run of the garden, several adjoining houses either side and across the street and the small wood and several fields behind the house. However if it was raining, when one of the humans opened the door she would suddenly lose her enthusiasm and just stand at the door sill looking out at the drizzle and if you held the door open long enough she would hunker down and continue to look but not venture out into the wet, which we usually didn't cause we were letting cold air in. If she immediately went out without noticing it was raining, she would notice by the time she reached the garage a few metres away and she would shelter under the eaves and within ten minutes she'd pop up on the kitchen windowsill looking to be let back in.
My cat stray Alan also gets annoyed when I choose to make it rain. He very clearly protests it and finds subtle and not so subtle ways to punish me for it.
I feel motivated to go to my Tommy playlist and find my favourite video. I always forget what it’s called, but he’s dishing out heavy insults to his human. Now I have to narrow that down again. 🤔🤣🤣🐱 I’ll find it and report back as it is very funny. 😊

My bengal cats go out freely now for the last 13 years and they are ok (one died of sickness last year). But where I live is out on the countryside. But my brother had cat going outside freely in the middle of a city and he also lived to die of old age.
I agree, we lost 2 cats that way, they were inside 80% of time, idea was to let them go for a few hours outside, all had GPS trackers, they didn't survived past 1 year of that plan, both were killed by cars, dear Niki by a kind unfortunate woman who came out of her car afterwards and was distressed and traumatized almowt as us, and Lili got under our own car and somehow probably held below the hood, and got ran over when she couldn't hold herself anymore (I have her picture in profile), it was most awful thing that ever happened to me and wife, she was peaceful innocent (she didn't even catch mice or stalk birds, only wanted to cuddle) sweetest cat, and died an awful death, my only way of keeping my mind is not to think about that damned day. So, no I don't believe cats, longevity and outside go together in any way, shape or form.
He's a beauty! Try walking with him, he'll take you exploring! I used to walk the neighbourhood with my cat in the evenings. we would walk for about 20 minutes every night while she showed me the 'hood! Best part of my day!
Tommy is typical of males of all species: he wants to be seen as a strong tough guy, but also likes the comforts of a safe place. So give him some chicken and tell him he's a badass.
Our big chubby Bengal cat was in playful mood one day and had hid his huge body under the kitchen rug, only his tail was sticking out. And we did play along going around the house pretending to look for him and say where is Neo... He was laying completely still not moving even his tail... This went on until his favorite person in the world my mom also said where is Neo and then he made a LOUD MEOW to let her know he was there and stood up in a hurry and did crawl out of the hiding place as fast as he could lol :)

My Bengal Cats hate winter, snow and cold with wind. Rain they think is ok... But their excuse is they are 1/4 and 1/5 Asian Leopard cat from the South Asian jungle :) But they also can not handle it getting warmer then +15c and will refuse to do anything else they lay in the shadow when that warm....
mine doesn't care bout rain, rain means mice holes flood and he can snatch more mice. He also enjoys drying himself off on the hoomin. so now the hoomin gets a towel and dries off the cat. he enjoys that.. then runs out and gets wet again. he know the hoomin will dry him off anyway
Tommy looks like he's ready to enjoy his break from the hustle and bustle of his regular busy schedule once that darn rain stops! And it doesn't look like that robot vacuum cleaner made the trip to further annoy him!😺😸
Tommy is a stray, not a feral. He had a home before and now is being re-domesticated, I believe. I have cared for both strays and ferals. Tommy doesn't believe like a feral. Glad that you're caring for him.
