Elizabeth Fraser's voice is so passionately intoxicating. If Sylvia Plath were alive she would have written beautiful confessional poetry about the artistic and erotic interludes of Miss Fraser's voice and the Cocteau Twins.
Only the Cocteau Twins could provide such enchanting music. Definitely in a league all their own they were. There are no comparisons. OK, maybe This Mortal Coil because Fraser and Guthrie did cover of Song to the Siren. Have a listen.

I just don't get it, why are the Cocteau Twins underrated? My ears tell me for one thing that Elizabeth Fraser is the greatest female vocalist of all time, she touches your heart and soul immensely.
I know what you mean but in a way I like the fact that they never got overly hyped. CT fans (and as one for over 30 years and therefore unashamadly biased) strike me as more loyal, nicer and kinder. I also think that whilst they are categorised as shoegaze/dreampop by the music industry and press they are beyond that in my view. And yes Elizabeth Fraser is a singer of such fragility and yet strength that her work is without equal. You also only need to see the way they received they Q lifetime achievement award to see how self-effacing and shy they are.
+Shannmeister I'm only 20 but I listened to this song back in 7th grade religiously at night, it was very relaxing and I was happy they never got more popular than they did. Once, England's Queen Elizabeth II was vacationing at her estate in Balmoral Castle. The Royal Family never conducts any official state business while they stay there, so, they can conduct themselves, as normal as is possible. The Queen, uncharacteristically invited Scotland's own Elizabeth Fraser over to Balmoral Castle, just one day for "Afternoon Tea" with herself, which is a very big deal, if, you're British. However, it was an informal occasion with the Cocteau Twins music playing throughout the castles study. The Queen marveled at Fraser, saying - "You know, we all create a reality around ourselves, but yours my dear, is, such a beautiful World to be in. I wish we could live in your dreams': Fore if we could, baby's would never cry and the fear of death, would be nonexistent. You make life worth living and I'm hopeful everyone will eventually discover your music, as special as I do... !!!" ― The Fraser Files
brings me right back to that time.....80s punk girl, standin in the club with the rest of them faking coolness, love you Elizabeth (makes me wanna cry)
I played this song from my LP over the PA at my Baptist church when it was Speak in Tongues hour. When it finished, and I looked at the sea of open mouths, the silence was eventually broken by the Pastor saying "What in the name of Merry Moses' balls was that all about?" I knew then with absolute certainty that it was all bullshit, that I was the product of stardust, thermodynamics, and billions of years of evolution, and that we'd all been duped. So I whipped my twenty dollars back and used it to buy the CD.
Boro's Nuts- Science says the universe isn't infinite; it began about 14 billion years ago. Since you say there's no creator, you're saying the stardust and thermodynamics created themselves. Stupidest thing I've read on the internet. Wise up.
AgentQQ8 Wrong. All time, space, and matter were created at the Big Bang. So it's logically impossible for there to be time before time. Even if we accept your premise that there was something before the BB, we have no way of knowing if the laws "on which those methods rely" were different or not. A creator simply means an ultimate cause. To reject this is infinite regress, which is impossible. And regarding the creator (or ultimate cause), we don't need an explanation of the explanation. Wise up.
By its own definition the abstract & the sub-conscious are not meant to be defined or understood. The brilliant and pioneering Cocteau Twins tap into this, requiring the listener to both let go(of expectations) & to hang on(to the unknown) ....
Enya taps into that, the group Arcadia does, Florence and the Machine and Loreena Mckennit sometimes do. The women in this song just sing a lot of gibberish to quasi-pretty sounds.
@Jenny You're right, all those artists do the same thing to degrees. No need to bring this artist down.... Better to add to the conversation positively! On another note, here I go to look into Arcadia since I'm already in love with the other three.
What memories this song brings. Deep summer nights enjoying the stars and wine in the balcony at my previous flat, the one I shared with my ex with, back when my life seemed to be sweeter and on track…

You nailed it! She speaks in a heavenly language few can understand
I AGREE!! They were a huge impact in my life in the early 90’s love , love The Cocteau Twins forever more❤
Once, England's Queen Elizabeth II was vacationing at her estate in Balmoral Castle. The Queen marveled at Fraser, saying -
"You know, we all create a reality around ourselves, but yours my dear, is, such a beautiful World to be in. I wish we could live in your dreams': Fore if we could, baby's would never cry and the fear of death, would be nonexistent. You make life worth living and I'm hopeful everyone will eventually discover your music, as special as I do... !!!"
― The Fraser Files
God bless both these ladies, the two "Lizzie's"
brings me right back to that time.....80s punk girl, standin in the club with the rest of them faking coolness, love you Elizabeth (makes me wanna cry)
Her voice is incredible.
I think I saw you...outside Camden Tube was it ;) ?
beautiful water music..............dreamily floating along with this mesmerizing music. ^_^
This is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever listened to. I was born many years after this music got released.
Reminds me of a "otherworldly slow dance between spirits!"...
The only comment section with poetic writing I can feel it from their song choice
It's like an out-of-body-experience. Bliss.
A taxi driver in Germany introduced me to this song I fell madly in love with him ❤❤❤😂
I played this song from my LP over the PA at my Baptist church when it was Speak in Tongues hour. So I whipped my twenty dollars back and used it to buy the CD.
lol this is above my level of comprehension
Boro's Nuts-
Science says the universe isn't infinite; it began about 14 billion years ago.
Since you say there's no creator, you're saying the stardust and thermodynamics created themselves. Stupidest thing I've read on the internet. Wise up.
now i get it
Very clever I love it!

Wrong.
Wise up.
They are simply HEAVEN.
Eternal, celestial, timeless... outstanding.
By its own definition the abstract & the sub-conscious are not meant to be defined or understood. The brilliant and pioneering Cocteau Twins tap into this, requiring the listener to both let go(of expectations) & to hang on(to the unknown) ....
MrDLOC11 beautifuly written
They are their own genre, for sure. Amazingly brilliant and beautiful!!
Enya taps into that, the group Arcadia does, Florence and the Machine and Loreena Mckennit sometimes do. The women in this song just sing a lot of gibberish to quasi-pretty sounds.
SPENCER NEFF DOESN'T UNDERSTAND THE PLOT OF ANNIHILATION. HIS OPINION LACKS SUPPORT AND THEREFORE IS NULL. TRASH MAN.
Can’t resist the beauty of this song
Been a while since I've listened to Treasure...incredible,just like I remember ❤
This song is so beautiful 😭 i love cocteau twins sm
pure brilliance from grangemouth
Still the only band in this world who can make such beautiful heavenly music!
Piotr
It was kind of a shrewd move for Liz Fraser to sing the elvish lament to Gandalf in lotr.. spine tingling stuff x
Would sing it 80s to my babues when pregnant.Still listen to her .xxxxxxxxx❤❤❤
Elizabeth Fraser, espetacular, voz maravilhosa.
this cancion esta de poca mother , les juro que andando very fucking borracho la canta uno and i dont know how pero de que cantamos we sing!!!!....el rythm de esta song es unique y no me siento tired of listening this song una y otra y otra vez!!!!

This song reminds of something I don't remember living. So nostalgic. It's just amazing
Yes, I can listen to Elizabeth Fraser all night long. Afternoons with Bowie, and nights Don van Vliet .
Treasure is no doubt one of their best albums ... and that is saying quite a bit as they have done so many great ones.
This is real dream. I'm listening it right now for the first time. This is very good music.
I heard it first in late 80s, and till today it is the most romantic piece of musical art for me, thank you CT !
