The laws of physics are inviolate, in other words you cannot disobey them. This guy shows by scientific calculation and realistic modeling that it is possible to eliminate fossil fuels. Even if this does not reverse the climate changes we are seeing, we still would eliminate a ton of disease, pollutants and their subsequent impact on world health. We really should aim for elimination of combustion-dependent energy by 2050 because the fact is, it is possible, and we do NOT need it!!! We would not lose jobs doing it, and actually would create them. Yes workers in the combustible fuel industry might have to retrain, but so what, they can do it. We put a man on the moon 50 years ago and we can train people to be workers in renewable energy industries. Furthermore, not only the US, but every country in the world can become energy independent by electrification as Jacobson describes it using solar, wind, and water, because it decentralizes energy production. We already have the technology, all we need is the will power to make it happen. I used to think that there was insufficient efficiency to justify going totally renewable and eliminating combustion, but I am also a physicist and I now see that I was wrong.
