Re4 started out as normal zombies and it slowly made it way into some mutant zombie which is retarded as heck the reason people didn’t cry about re4 not having zombies is because it just had its own uniqueness to the game it still had puzzles like the first 3 or 4 had and plus it had the eeriness to it to with some of the bosses in it. Re7 was honestly the most retarded one made out of all of them because it made no sense to the story line whatsoever. And some of the stuff that happened in it was stupid. The family had no connection with the game at all and plus you see Chris for like a second in the game and that’s it.

RE7 was great, especially in VR, but it's one of those games where you forget which franchise it belongs to until Chris pops up for two seconds to remind you that it's Resident Evil. There's a reason why it's so far removed from Resident Evil, it's because most people hated RE6. It's not like the storyline ever made much sense anyway, particularly after 4 it became a bunch of nonsense so at that point they could do anything and call it Resident Evil. 4 was very different from the first three so they did the same thing with 7.
It's really funny to see Shinji Mikami basically re-purposing this whole scenario from RE4 beta in The Evil Within. One of the later chapters in The Evil Within happens to be located in a fairly large mansion which you have to traverse through and solve puzzles. There you will be completely randomly stalked by the main antagonist, and if you're caught you're dead. The screen will turn blue in the exact same fashion as RE4's beta, and he'll slowly walk towards you and obsessionally teleport nearby you. Also happens to be my favorite chapter of what is otherwise a pretty mediocre game tbh. Would recommend to check out a youtube video of Chapter 9 Mansion level.
Gorlokk yeah! it has the old moving style with the camera being on the walls, ceilings, etc. but the aiming is in third person, wich was a good move since you can see where you are shooting.
RE4 beta looking like a true survival horror with a dark, scary atmosphere and fixed camera in the style of every single previous RE game. RE4 fanboys : yeah, it doesn't look like Resident Evil. I swear, I'm convinced at this point that the majority of RE4 fans have never played the previous titles, and only got into RE because 4 is an arcadey action game. It still baffles me to this day how some people claim RE4 is the BEST RESIDENT EVIL GAME EVER MADE when it's a complete departure from the previous titles, and has almost nothing in common with them.
True that many probably don't know the old games. I played all core Eae and found the change good. If it had kept with the old style it would have become too monotonous at some point. My fav is RE5, btw. But also regarding coop and mercs. The atmosphere was the deepest in the old games, of course.
Yeah, well genius, explain to me how any virus could make these things happen and i'll tell you exactly why it'll never be in any resident evil. Get a fucking brain.
Philippe Herman Clearly you misread or don't understand what I mean, I said LIKE this, as in a similar aspect with the camera angles and the atmosphere that will make you feel inferior and intimidated like the original games, not make like Resident Evil 4,5,6 etc. I never said anything about the actual enemies that are encountered in this video. Get a fucking brain.
Ciircus Pasta Whereas you could put the enemies into a RE. Like I said, Leon probably imagines the Supernatural stuff because he was in infected with the Progenitor Virus. Check the beta trailer (link in the description) :)
ghosts in resident evil is just ridiculous, i really liked how re4 worked out, but it would have been interesting with the setting and feel of this version, especially if it was about the traditional zombies/monsters from the first bunch of games
the fact that the doors, walls, armors and camera, and many other objects, got reused in haunting ground, always make me cry ❤️ so glad they didnt put everything to trash eventually and decided to use the models to make a whole different game.
Re4 beta became haunting ground, RE4 was supposed to take place soley in a creepy castle, and the side character was a girl waking up there with a BOW dog companion.
Umbrella was destroyed in 2003... according to the current RE4 version of the story. I think that (even if they look great) the ghosts do not appeal to the RE storyline. The creepy part of RE (as CAPCOM itself said) is that it is posible in some way, because these zombies did not come out of the grave by magic, they did through biologycal experiments. In my opinion, the ghost concept is great, but not for a RE game. As I said, they should've sticked to the original zombies using this concept.
I would have chosen this style instead because it still plays like an RE game. Everyone wants typical zombies again, but I think they were going somewhere interesting with the whole hallucinatory idea. Everything around Leon becomes like half-real and half-illusion. That is one badass virus!
This beta version is not resident evil, it is silent hill or amnesia. Final version is better, Resident evil is not a psychological horror. its a game with real world elements, science fiction and weird monsters and some action
Watching this made me realize just how interesting re4s development was. I knew that the devil may cry series came from an early build of re4 they felt was too far removed from resident evil yet wanted to keep it's ideas but I didn't know there was another build like this. Fascinating that the game we have now was at one point dmc1 and another point was like this video.
Soooo, we take a mansion like in resi 1, let the controls and camera be like resi 4 and overall use less zombies for shock moments and a more silent hill esque approach in terms of horror, to prevent the horror moments from being spotted too easily. Seriously Capcom, its not that hard.
@@shreyasbytes6621 Resident evil is a psychological horror, and it wanted to be until action fanboys like you came and wanted a game what is TPS call of duty RE.
it looked amazing graphic wise for that time...the gamecube was a beefy machine...too bad they switched it up cause they decided to release the game for ps2 also..
+Arron Harrington No the GameCube was more powerful than the PS2 as it was better for shaders etc and the fact that it was released a whole lot later. Compare of RE4 on the GameCube and PS2 the GameCube looks better.
+Arron Harrington Thing is though it doesn't really matter as both used SCART so any graphical differences wouldn't really be noticed due to all the blurriness associated with SCART. I preferred the PS2 anyway as it had more games which is always nice.
This version would have been so awesome to play! Wished they'd release a demo version of this for fans to check out. I hope the Resident Evil 2 remake is like this gameplay wise. If the RE2 remake plays anything like RE6 I'll be a little upset.
No, just RE6's controls and messed up camera felt weird. RE5 had the most solid controls of any RE game BTW. Though I want the RE2 remake to play Like this Beta or like the RE1 Remake.
Yeah you see it does look awesome but it really takes the zombie out of Resident Evil. They could have however used this backend story for another game that had nothing to do with Resident Evil.
It's like the OG remake and RE4 had a baby together. Looks great, but worth remembering, these games were often canned for a reason. The RE4 we got was amazing. A timeless masterpiece, I wouldn't swap it.
Now this feels like survival horror. Shame Capcom have no idea what there doing these days. Re7 hopefully will flop while the Re 2 remake sells well enough to get Capcom back to the roots. Now this is true fear...
Kelcie D at this point...if Re7 style games continues then it might as well be dead. It's not even survival horror and they haven't made a proper Resident Evil game in over a decade. It's just now some generic action game to cater to annoying fake scared people for attention, it's similar to games like Slenderman or Outlast style games...just isn't fun either.
Kelcie D I'm mostly tired of some people saying a series needs a new direction. New doesn't usually mean better. Not saying it's exactly like Outlast but regardless it just isn't fun to play, seems to be catering to people who only care about graphics, now there focusing on poor attempts at jump scares...which are predictable. Re2 is remade...it's not a remaster. Capcom aren't trying to bring back survival horror...there just trying to do whatever gimmicks they think might be popular. I dare not even think how badly a Dino Crisis sequel would be if they think Re7 is scary. Re2 remake was not on the N64. Capcom hasn't cared what the fans think for a while or those live action films wouldn't have continued for so long...
Kelcie D Nostalgia goggles? sounds like generic insult for gamers that still think old game designs are still fun. Saw a few snippets?, there's a frigging playable demo...designed to demonstration what the game plays like, I didn't like it...which has nothing to do with nostalgia. Yes Re1 had some jump scares but it did not rely entirely on them...unlike Re7. First person games aren't scary because they take away the mystery of what's around the corner. I would have no problems with ignoring if it was a spinoff but it's not, this isn't the first fps style Resident Evil, the worst part is there trying to market it if off as survival horror.
SSG_Ronnie42 that's stupid. sorry but, if Capcom keeps doing the same thing over and over, how are they going to attract new players? they can't keep doing the same thing, you guys complain about everything. calling yourself true fans, true fans get positive feedback, they don't just complain about everything. seriously, you try making your own game, and I'm sure you wouldn't even be able to make one even half as good as most re games. and yes, five might have been more actiony, but as an action game itself, it was good. so was six, when it came to being an action game itself. good graphics, nice mechanics. and seven is going to be great. don't call yourself a fan when you're sitting here ranting about how you hope it doesn't succeed. pathetic. they're taking your" fans" complaints and listening to them. so they left out a lot of things you guys asked them to leave out, and now you're complaining even MORE. Jesus, when will you people be happy? I shouldn't even look up feedback about re, because all I see is people complaining about this amazing series.
Paris Scholt That's stupid?, so you want Capcom to copy/paste someone else's work over, over instead of innovating and improving existing designs but is somehow worse to you...so you think attracting new gamers then abandoning any old gamers is a good thing...that's ridiculous...many company's have tried that and it's back-lashed like what happened with Halo and Star Wars Battlefront (EA) but sure you think people will just be happy with that because change is somehow better to you. Anyone can claim to be a 'true fan'...and many of us give constructive feedback...you can't just expect positive feedback only because that's not how the games industry works. Try to make my own game? I already have and even working on my own projects. You know nothing about me but your somehow ok to make false assumptions about me. You may want to take your own advice...here's an idea open up Blender 3d or hell download a free trial of 3ds Max then wake me up when you learn something before breaching. So basically you expect me specifically on my own time to make a game by myself to make something that is better than Re7...when it takes a full team, a crap load of money to make...to build a game to cater to something that you think I can't do as good as a job of. Do you even realise how ridiculous you sound. I take feedback on a daily basis, even taken the feedback to help make better games...now what have you done that makes you so 'high and mighty'? 1 more thing anyone can make a game like Re7...with enough time, practise but you can not expect people to bend over to do everything for you just because you want everything done your way only.
RE7’s executive producer said plans for a sequel were already in motion. They could take inspiration from this beta to have 1st person RE game where you fight enemies that seem supernatural. This has so much potential.
+ Jeremy Resident Evil is a Survival Horror series about conserving ammo and avoiding enemies unless absolutely necessary. The goal in the originals was not to kill everything and you were punished heavily for wasting your ammo on zombies you didn't need to kill.
RE4 is the worst RE for me, in every aspect. This fragment alone is way better than the whole final game... Too bad so many noisy fanboys, who don't have the sligthest clue about what a good video game is, or what a RE should be, overrate RE4 so much!
Yeah, totally, because it had more gameplay, content and features than any RE that came after it ever. Because it was working and had so much stuff and secrets. Of course it is different than the very original Resident Evils but its yet not a bad one and not THAT different unlike the stuff that came after it. All I just want to say is dont trashtalk a good game because anything beyond that is less-a-game than anything ever.
You know RE4 was literally innovation right? Introducing the 3rd Person Shooter aspect and more of a heart pounding and claustrophobic atmosphere and gameplay. Meaning you felt overwhelmed and outnumbered and just surrounded.
Sergi Medina I personally feel RE4 still attempts to find a mix between horror and tense action but you do make a valid point, RE4 hasn't aged too well, still I mostly don't like RE5 due to it making a lot of backwards design choices like forcing co op in levels where it feels like they were design for just singleplayer and not co op...at least 6's levels were designed with co op in mind from the start.
You can see this was made for the Gamecube. Look at the controller layout. If only this was ever released. Zombie ghost skipping time, powerful enemies, and creep factors... damn. This was for the Gamecube, imagine today.
He created the game. And the Ganados and Ooze are apart of RE. You may not agree with it but that's the way it is. The game uses slow lumbering enemies because that is a part of the gameplay, and the core horror aspect of the series, which also tied in with the controls. That changed with RE4 to an extent even much more so with RE5 and 6 and the enemies changed to reflect that.
While it makes sense the final game was used a behind the back camera for the whole game (except that one Ashley section in the Japanese version), having the fixed camera normally and the over the shoulder aiming would have been really cool.
Christ almight the struggling with the hook man looks intense. I know the supernatural bit doesn't necessarily fit with the RE "virus = zombie" bit but hopefully Capcom picks up on this and maybe sets foot into the more supernatural survival horror setting for a new series? I'm hoping they at least realize the lost potential.
@Lexar2020 Actually, you know what's funny is that Resident Evil originally started off being about the paranormal -- ghosts and such -- and then later became about zombies. It, also, was originally going to be FPS.
This could be the key to save survival horror

Wish RE4 had more of a Spooky and Sinister tone to it like this one did.
❤🖤🔪
I feel like people worship the action pack RE4 way too much!
old re fanboys should have critize this version too.
Seriously at this point these complain are nothing but nostalgia nonsense
Here's an idea, why not make Resident Evil 7 like this instead of the shitty action games they do now?
People would bash the camera system.
Check the beta trailer (link in the description) :)
blunt00764 That I could understand, but try telling that to the other guy who thinks he can invalidate any points you try to make.
It's 2014, the REREmake was recently announced and I still wish we had this.
would've loved this over re4
ghosts in resident evil is just ridiculous, i really liked how re4 worked out, but it would have been interesting with the setting and feel of this version, especially if it was about the traditional zombies/monsters from the first bunch of games
This would have been perfect. Good aiming with classic-esque camera angles and other controls.
the fact that the doors, walls, armors and camera, and many other objects, got reused in haunting ground, always make me cry ❤️ so glad they didnt put everything to trash eventually and decided to use the models to make a whole different game.
I never played Haunting Ground or the Clocktower games. But I think in those games you run and hide and don't fight, right?
love the reference in Resident evil 8
imagine if remake 2 plays like this?
I wouldn't mind re2 remake being somewhat similar to this look.
Yeah seems like it is, in an era of stagnation they're turning towards the stuff they threw out a decade ago.
it does tbh. it plays like what a third person version of this beta would probably be
Re2Remake disappointed again, new Capcom can only make action game
@@lisupei6042 lmao what
Re4 beta became haunting ground, RE4 was supposed to take place soley in a creepy castle, and the side character was a girl waking up there with a BOW dog companion.
Man this looks so amazing i wish they would have done both action a scary close corners because that was scary as hell
This may be the most ironic statement on the internet.
can definitely see where Capcom got the idea for house beneviento in resident evil village
As I said, they should've sticked to the original zombies using this concept.
man i wish i could download it....
I want this for the remake.
I would have chosen this style instead because it still plays like an RE game. Everyone wants typical zombies again, but I think they were going somewhere interesting with the whole hallucinatory idea. Everything around Leon becomes like half-real and half-illusion. That is one badass virus!
Why Capcom!? Why!? THIS WAS PERFECT THE WAY IT WAS
Much Sillent Hill
This beta version is not resident evil, it is silent hill or amnesia. Final version is better, Resident evil is not a psychological horror. its a game with real world elements, science fiction and weird monsters and some action
@@jorgemurilo7779 and that's a bad thing?
@@shreyasbytes6621 Resident evil is about survival horror and zombies, not about action, you are fake RE fan.
@@White927 yeah re is not about ghosts and psychological horror like this version.
They should at least make a spin off version with this concept 💯
Watching this made me realize just how interesting re4s development was. I knew that the devil may cry series came from an early build of re4 they felt was too far removed from resident evil yet wanted to keep it's ideas but I didn't know there was another build like this. Fascinating that the game we have now was at one point dmc1 and another point was like this video.
Looks like they brought back the flashlight for the Resident Evil 2 remake.
This looks so freaking cool!
+Buraun I know man!
Bummer how history turned out....
:(
This beta release should’ve been the official Resident Evil 4,
and the final release should’ve been Resident Evil 5.
Soooo, we take a mansion like in resi 1, let the controls and camera be like resi 4 and overall use less zombies for shock moments and a more silent hill esque approach in terms of horror, to prevent the horror moments from being spotted too easily.
Seriously Capcom, its not that hard.
man the remaker of 4 has to have this dark footprint, for me resident evil 4 and that
This is real resident evil so scary
Only if gamecube was powerful enough back then to handle black fog enemy we could have a greater game than the final release 😭😭😭😢
So sad
the resident evil 4 we have now is a great game but I think i would've liked this more, no matter how much it felt like silent hill
This was used as the bases for devil may cry ✨
They really need to bring back RE to this atmosphere. This really made me jump like a horror movie.
Resident evil is not a psychological horror, these atmosphere / scares belong to silent hill not resident evil.
Lmao Resident Evil never had that atmosphere.
@@shreyasbytes6621 Resident evil is a psychological horror, and it wanted to be until action fanboys like you came and wanted a game what is TPS call of duty RE.
@@White927 when was re psychological horror tell me, silent hill is psychological horror, re is not.
@@shreyasbytes6621 You didn't tried to play with the real Resident evil games.
Alone In Fatal Hill Evil
Duuuuuuuuuudeeeee i love RE4 in the way that it is, but i think that this beta is actually better.
Lmao, you even got the soul locked doors from DMC1
it looked amazing graphic wise for that time...the gamecube was a beefy machine...too bad they switched it up cause they decided to release the game for ps2 also..
+Tthegreat d It wasn't that beefy. Ps2 was more powerful.
+Arron Harrington No the GameCube was more powerful than the PS2 as it was better for shaders etc and the fact that it was released a whole lot later. Compare of RE4 on the GameCube and PS2 the GameCube looks better.
David Brum Oh my bad. I thought ps2 had better graphics. I have played both.
+Arron Harrington Thing is though it doesn't really matter as both used SCART so any graphical differences wouldn't really be noticed due to all the blurriness associated with SCART. I preferred the PS2 anyway as it had more games which is always nice.
You can really tell this became Devil May Cry, it's just cool to see how it started.
I love the RE4 that we got in the end, but this also looks fantastic. Would have loved to play this, even if it's more Silent Hill like.
RE 4 final lacking survival horror and nkt as goid as this version
No
Re 3.5 > RE 4 final
That baby part I think is where one of the ideas for the evil within came from, with that blue screen and a ghost.
hahaha leon's back wtf
Yup he is back
It's a shame this version never became a reality. Would've been an even greater game than what the final product was.
RE4 would have probably done better had it stayed this way!
Nuclear-Skull87 Disagree.
Yes it would have been alot better with more to come
Re4 did plenty good and is regarded as one of the best games ever now lol
Much Sillent Hill
@@jorgemurilo7779 The final version is much Call of Duty.
This version would have been so awesome to play! Wished they'd release a demo version of this for fans to check out. I hope the Resident Evil 2 remake is like this gameplay wise. If the RE2 remake plays anything like RE6 I'll be a little upset.
It better be good
No, just RE6's controls and messed up camera felt weird. RE5 had the most solid controls of any RE game BTW. Though I want the RE2 remake to play Like this Beta or like the RE1 Remake.
this would have been an awesome game!!!
lol this model of Leon was lately used to create Dante from Dmc
Yeah you see it does look awesome but it really takes the zombie out of Resident Evil. They could have however used this backend story for another game that had nothing to do with Resident Evil.
They did take out zombies in 4...
Schizosoul lol i'm such a newb i only played like 1minute of the game
They used for another game. They made DMC.
Ronaldbits But DMC isn't a horror game...or is it.
OtakuSanji I guess DMC would fit into the action/horror genre... If there's an action/horror genre, that is.
Did that remind anyone of Silent Hill? You know the whole "shift to evil-reality" and then back to "normal"?
it's very similar to RE Remake, interesting work, i really want to play it =d
i wish it was made but not to replace todays re4 maybe a spin off or something. hopefully they will use this sort of thing for re7
someone is making a mod out of it in moddb.com called resident evil 3.5
RE7’s executive producer said plans for a sequel were already in motion. They could take inspiration from this beta to have 1st person RE game where you fight enemies that seem supernatural. This has so much potential.
better than RE4 garbage action BS with villagers
Agreed!
Wow. This would of been terrifying as a kid.
Can we in any way get this by hacking
Glad they redo back Resident Evil 4 this one as much as I love the idea of horror doesn't really suit zombie in it
And this is how Resident evil had its horror factor but no lets make it a shooter -_- and fuck up the series and go bankrupt hmmm..
Flanker Eagle resident evil 7 lol
Flanker Eagle But RE is a shooting games about zombie.
Meaning you felt overwhelmed and outnumbered and just surrounded.
i love the old resi games
but resi 4 is a masterpiece standing for its own
best 3rd person shooter game ever made
Well, I'm sorry you feel that way.
Not only you'll need cash but you'll need patient with the retro camera system.
You can see this was made for the Gamecube. Look at the controller layout. If only this was ever released. Zombie ghost skipping time, powerful enemies, and creep factors... damn. This was for the Gamecube, imagine today.
Considering how epic RE4 was i think they made the right decision...
I'm glad with the game we got. But this demo is worth being its own game.
Looking at this, and then the games released due to the sudden change in direction made during RE4's development is just depressing.
RE4 was Jack Krauser's first game. They later gave him a backstory in Darkside Chronicles for the Wii.
this one looks so much scarier and better
