- I didn't see a video of this kind with the English voices yet and so I decided to capture some footage from the PS3 version and put it together for this video. I hope you guys, enjoy! :) - Special thanks to Xseed for localizing this great game. Looking forward to Trails of Cold Steel 2 later this year!

After playing through Cold Steel 4 and looking back at this one. I didnt realize how much the characters aged. They look really young in this game lol

Ugh seeing C's s-craft brings back some horrible memories when I first fought him
The C experience right there. The terrible memories of getting Deadly Cross'd are hard to forget.
He didn't even use it on my first fight, but all other runs I did (hard, nightmare) he used it but Angel master quartz is broken for this
I had a few characters go down during it, but it wasn't anything Seraphic Ring couldn't fix.
Ah yes. The time honored combat technique of T Pose, spin model, and shoot gun. fucking wonderful.
Rean's VA really did a good job

Going back from CS3.. they really have such simple s-crafts back then, specially Rean and Laura's 😂
Really shows how much they've grown in 2 years
in fact, i think that its really cool how certain characters’ previous S-crafts have become their normal crafts - for example laura’s radiant spin in CS3 is the final hit from radiant blade dance, and the new S-craft she learned is now the same as her fathers!
this is also more prevalent in CS4 with other characters from the series
Crow and Sara’s are my favorites by a long shot. Crow’s is incredibly cool and fits his sort of laid back style and Sara’s... is just my style and is fuckin’ wicked and feels like she’s really going all out

@@Sidtheriser07 I wouldn't really count the attack in the Azure Knight and he also keeps Deadly Cross in CS2 so Rean, Laura and Alisa end up having more since they get 2 in CS1 and then another in CS2
Visiting halfway through my play through of Cold Steel IV. Everyone was so cute and baby faced... I suddenly have a deep nostalgia for the first couple games!
Radiant Phoenix Slash is simple and quick but soooo beautiful. Ironically it feels the most painful to get hit by. My favourite.
It also manages to hit right through 75% Evade with Shining active.

I love S Scarlett's S-craft, it is so amazing. Completely my favorite one.
This is interesting, some of their s-craft become normal craft in third series and above, it really show how they grow up and getting stronger in the time gap
6 minutes for this games s-crafts about 30 for the 3 following games each. tis what happens when the series starts with about 20 s-craft capable characters and end with about a hundred.
Crow's S craft gives me the vibes similar to Homura Akemi and Kiana Kaslana because of the bullets scattering in the frozen time zone

Crow’s S-craft carried me through the better half of the game so it was quite sad to see who he really was =(

Cross Rebellion's better, honestly (Disappointed they didn't keep Cross Raven though)
In Trails of cold Steel 2 the voices are much better! But I like all the games from this! ^-^
The Flame/Azure Flame Slash's 2-quick slashes sounds funny for some reason lol.

I know one shouldn't compare in cases like this, but after watching the Xillia, Zestiria and Berseria Mystic Artes, and then the Cold Steel S-crafts, Falcom wins with simplicity over the fast, over-the-top animations that Namco makes. I mean: you can actually see that doing these super powerful techs ain't easy for the Trails' characters. Makes me feel like the difference between the Naruto jutsus where the characters that use them really suffer to do so (bones broken, crying BLOOD for f***'s sake!), and the Dragon Ball Kamehameha and such. Falcom = Naruto (technic, flair and simplicity), Namco = Dragon Ball (flashy but no real substance).
Zenn virus Nah just that Tales of games are basically fighting action games gameplay wise, if they are slow paced like Trails it would break the flow of combat IMMENSLY. Just look at Tales Of Symphonia 2, where every MA takes about 10 years to finish...
Personally i think Xillia's style is the best compared to all of em. Berseria and Zestiria's are too fast, Trails and Symphonia Vesperia style is too slow.
Last two in this... I've been reminded of Xenogears so bad :(

How to do you guys think the Trails (Kiseki) Series would stand up compared to the big shots like FF and Tales. From what I think, the only reason it not as famous is because it is not as well known and it kept getting overshadowed (mainly from graphics and familiarity). Just compare the view counts at the walkthrough,compilations...
+pigifi As far as i know Trails series have a very comprehensive story. Like there is a big giant world map and a well created history story for each countries throughout the entire series and each one of them is linked.Tales is known for its great battle system, but storywise it is not so good. Final Fantasy is inconsistent in terms of story or battle, but graphic wise it is the best.
you know what is the best? Persona 3 and 4 :D
trails and persona are the only two worth mentioning at the moment, by far
Trails in the sky games have some of the most detailed writing I have seen in any game.The world building is amazing and while it is a franchise story, never once it felt like "Oh the writer is writing the story as it goes and just cornered himself." , it feels like they wrote the entire story for the entire franchise then started making the games.
The amount of optional dialogues is just incredible. For example in trails sc there is point in the story where your friends are taking night patrols.You can go to the general goods store first get them some candy and this will add more to the cutscene that plays when you enter the guild to meet up with them. It does nothing to effect the general story its just their for bonding.And this goes for the NPC's too. Always talk to them 2 times AFTER every time plot moves.
Also the games are connectable . So for example if you played trails FC and did all the sidequests, the people you helped will remember your help and the dialogue will change in Trails SC (they even give you some items).
There are books you can collect ( you can also trade them for the ultimate weapons) that you can read. And they actually are the stories of some of the characters that appear in later games (of course they dont say its them its all shady).
In terms of battle system its not really all that difficult (hell you can even restart the battles after you lose) however you can create some DISGUSTING combos.Every character is very useful so its all about your preference.
The soundtrack well the music is subjective but its my fav soundtrack of all time. Just listen to a song called silver will if you want an example.
Btw I just focused mostly on the Trails in The Sky part of the franchise but for the most part the quality is the same sooo yeah.
Final Fantasy (up to X) was the best RPG series, paving the way for the genre. After the Sin story though, downhill. XII was not bad, but began the recycling of previuos ideas, which marked the decline. Final Fantasy has never been the same once Hironobu Sakaguchi left. (Favorite FFs: VI and IX).
Tales started as a unique sort of RPG with its true Real Time Battle system, that played more like a Beat 'em Up/Fighting game combo. Which was amazing. Up until Vesperia all was going well, but then it started to become...kind of rote, with Graces being perhaps the last game in the franchise that delivered a good Fast Action-Story combo (though I've seen better). Afterwards...they are just flash n' slash, but no real substance. (Favorite Tales: Abyss and Vesperia).
Shin Megami Tensei is a wild card, since it is by far the darkest mainstream RPG series ever, though Persona, which started as an offshoot quickly turned into a cult classic. While the game is good, the story involving, and the battles pretty damn challenging (some of THE HARDEST bosses EVER. Bar none) the series is in kind of a tough spot right now, ironically at the peak of its fame. Mostly 'cause of its reliance on the School tropes, and the general dark visual novel feel. which are both a good thing and a bad thing. And only time will tell how the series fares (Favorite SMTs: Nocturne and Persona 3 FES).
Legend of Heroes, or more exactly the Trails series is a GRAND project, the likes of which requires an incredible ammount of foresight. Like all the above, but in particular with the (former) king of RPGs (FF), story is its best damn selling point, with music, art, and the battle system the perfect complement to the top notch narrative. Like Persona (SMT), it is building momentum something fierce, but unlike Atlus' main franchise, it has yet to reach its peak. And hopes are pinned on them, for they are attempting to do what Monolith Soft tried with the Xeno universe (Xenogears/saga) in creating a far-reaching story. A different sort of risk than Persona, but one that promises too. (Favorite Trails: Ao/Azure and Sen 2).
The four are classics, are old franchises (with Legend of Heroes being the oldest), and are always a joy to play, but some have already spent their thunder, while others are building theirs. Truly, there is no way to know which is the absolute best. After all, they are all really cool series that have wistood the test of time and fandom.
Zenn virus Beautifully said. But as you can see, despite being as good and old as the other 3 franchises, the big problem with LOH is that it is not as well known as the others. Just look at the view count in the walkthroughs and limit break compilations. Publicity, good or bad is still publicity. Death by obscurity is a much more painful way to go.

Quick question, how do you maximize damage output from Alisa, Elliot, Emma for their S-Crafts?
Have 200cp when you use it.
I do when I use it, but it's still not very powerful
+tonfaman33 I'm not sure about Alisa, but Elliot and Emma's S-Craft damage output probably depends on how high their ATS stat is. Even so, it probably doesn't matter since their S-Crafts are considered the weakest in the game as far as I know...
Equip them with all 3 Mind quartz (Mirage). You can put together the 3 levels (Mind 1, 2 and 3), plus any accessory that increases ATS. Do the same for Laura, Gaius, Millium and Rean but with the Attack fire quartz. You'll see dome pretty sick ammounts of damage. Oh! and don't forget to use the S-crafts at 200 CP. You'll be happy.
High ATS. Have a +50% ATS buff. The art Fortuna offers +25% ATS/ADF and doesn't cost any CP, and/or you could use some +ATS boosting food.
Hopefully Trails of Zero gets released in the west I have heard some good things bout it

I think this game is nice for the vita, but didnt like the graphics that much.... ✌😐
Yea, this one was made with low budget. I just finished playing Persona 4 Golden when I try this game and I felt it really hard. The stiff animations, the lack of energy, the generic cliches, etc. Even similar game like this one called Fairy Fencer F was much more lively and energetic, and that one came out few years before this game. I did heard that it gets better in the sequels, so I'll still try to play it I guess and see if it's fun enough.

I don't think so, but you can skip the animations though.

Playing Sen No Kiseki 2 and before the English voice of this game was fine for me, but now with the Japanese voice on Sen No Kiseki 2...this is just too wierd to hear now, god dammit Japan and your good seyuu!
