I think it might be time for Mum, Pamela, to retire and leave her daughter, Tara, to impose her style on the hotel! I'm Pamela's generation, but I support Tara. She's young, energetic and modern. I sense Tara's frustration.

While I understand her reticence, what the mother is doing is not on. She's driving her daughter to distraction. You don't "semi-retire" and constantly meddle and pick and bicker. You step out the way. The phrase "interfering old bag" has never been more apt for a person before, I swear.

It's weird how Pam lives in an up to date modern (for the times) apartment but then wants the hotel to live in the 70s? Not quite sure why she handed over the hotel to her daughter to then make her life complete hell? Like Ruth said, if she hates what she's doing so much she should sack her. I know this video is about 20+years old and Pam is probably no longer with us but this family makes me think for a long time they lived with more money than sense and was arguing constantly about f' all....

As much as the building is beautiful, the rooms are just vile. It screams “we think we’re oh so posh because we have a lot of money “ , tacky and dated without being warm, homely or elegant. The mum does my head in 😂, always making faces with her high-pitched voice and posh accent, she comes across as awful especially with her daughter, which she constantly belittles and makes us feel like she clearly thinks she’s not good enough. She seems to think it’s her daughter’s fault that the hotel is sinking, failing to see it’s her micromanagement that creates confusion and eventually people run away. Pam is stuck in the 70s and thinks she’s quite something, it seems. Her daughter deserves some acknowledgement, and keeping on referring to “the board” as if it’s not just her children who haven’t managed to talk some sense into this lady seems arrogant, giving themselves important titles, feels ridiculous to me. I can see why Pam is extremely involved, though and why it’s difficult to delegate, especially with family, but sometimes you really need to take a step back. I hope they have improved their relationship. It seems like everyone is frustrated and nobody manages to walk in the other’s shoes, properly.

@squid3946 that's why I said mothers can be. Not every mother is but most do it at some time or another. She's not scared of her mum at all.
Yes some mums can be just unbearable and unable to have a relationship with. I know that only to well. We are all different and I think this daughter has a huge ego and needs to calm right down. I bet her mother would be less overbearing if she did.

Very few have decor like that, either some old people or accommodation that is owned by some old people. Not being funny but considering that people keep banging on about Britain’s past actions ad nauseam, it’s not us stuck in the past.

I love a good kislux because it helps me decide if I want to buy the real thing or NOT." That part right there. That's IT. I feel like people stigmatize dupes but for me, I pause on large purchases that are trendy or when I feel the overconsumption mania setting in FOR ME. (It's something I struggle with LOL! I'm easily convinced to buy things I don't wear or use. They'll literally have the tags and I'll even forget I bought something and have 2 or 3 of them in my closet.) Love this video!

Ruth has severe psoriasis all over her body, including her scalp (but not yet on her face) so she wears loose boxy coats etc, both for comfort... and to hide the unsightly plaques. When doing close-ups of her hands while driving, she has medication and concealer to make them look less affected.

Too much pink in that dining room! Whoever wants pink drapes? What man, anyway. Maybe a little girl or a spinster. Actually, I mind that brown crapper less than the frilly dining room. Twisted phone cord, I would point out, but nowadays maybe no one uses the phone? I think they will still use it for internal calls, so, untwist the phone cord, so it can stretch to its max easily! ``Is MUM behaving herself?'' Yes, she is too concerned about Tara, but Tara has such a zany streak, I can see why she makes her elders nervous.
