Here's an interesting one that slips through the cracks for most people: Calvin Klein sells jeans through Costco that are only like $50 but are much higher quality than any other jeans I've bought over the years. I bought 4 pairs nearly a decade ago and none of them show any wear, even on the belt loops.
My countless Levi’s say made in Cambodia 🇰🇭 now. My elders sew 🧵 in Cambodia 🇰🇭. I was a kid 🧒 in California buying 501 authentic jeans 👖made in USA 🇺🇸. As I grown I’ve learned that my comfortable lamb 🐑 fur wool, UGGS also made in Cambodia 🇰🇭. Proud 🥲 of my elders sewing 🧵. Awesomeness 😎
It’s not a hole, it doesn’t go all the way through….🤣🤣🤣 I wish Levi’s would come back with the original button fly. They fit so well and many different body types
Levi’s from the discounter are also lower quality than mainstream Levi’s - and are also “made for the discounter”. You should have compared the Citizens of Humanity to Levi’s Made & Crafted. That would have been more apples to apples. Your comparison was apples to oranges.
First of all. $188 jeans are for rich stupid people. Levi's used to be good but are now cheaply made. The only jeans I can find that will actually last through a days work are rustler. But then again, I'm one of the 1% that actually still buy jeans for their intended purpose, WORK.
Levi's still make really good pair of work worthy jeans. You just can't find it at Costco or stores like that. You can find on their website, they have the "made and crafted" line and "premium" line. You can also look for their '93 501s that are 100% cotton. Those are well made jeans.
One word. Selvedge. That’s how you determine a good Jean. Levi’s makes damn near ALL their jeans selvedge and so if you see vintage pairs of them you can guarantee that they will last you more years so just pay for the extra quality. I see a TON of Jean companies and very few (like three if that many) will compare or be a good substitute for Levi’s jeans. I had to learn the types of jeans and the numbering system (like 501, 505) to know what Jean was made for what and what cut looks like what. Levi’s puts a lot in to making their products good quality product.
How about fit? I can't believe that you wouldn't address the most important aspect! It's like having a favorite brand of chocolate considering only price and packaging, regardless of the taste!
If you are asking whether the jeans are TTS, the only pair that was not was the mens CoH. Those were a size 30, while Pete normally wears a size 32. The mens Levi's were a size 32. However, he also tried on other pairs of CoH that were TTS. The women's Levi's and CoH were TTS. The CoH were Demy and the Levi's were 701. Jess noted that the Levi's were a little long for her. So we decided to exclude fit simply due to how difficult it would be to come to a conclusion on size that would be helpful to the audience.

Would never spend $200 on off the rack jeans. For about $40 more, you can get a pair of custom made jeans from Todd Shelton. Made in USA of very nice Japanese denim. Home try-on pairs included.
Many have missed the real point, the jeans made in America cost more than the ones made in poor countries. Many are are being real proud as an American that they will stick with Levi’s, what American buys expensive jeans. How much would Levi’s be made in America? I’m now questioning if child labor was used in making my Levi’s.
Very old Levi’s we’re extremely thick material. The twist of the thread that makes up the material gives it its durability. If you work extensively with different brands of clothing, it’s easy to identify quality just by looking at particular brands. Levi’s has some not as durable women’s jeans now but the lighter material is much better suited to hot, humid southern climates. The holes help keep you cool as well.
Levis has outsouced making denim to far East like linia, srilanka, Vietnam, Bangladesh to save on labour cost... Previous levis used to be 100 percent cotton bit now all mix of cotton, polyester and lycra Or elastine, spandex...... They have certain levis catogeries ranging from 501 to be premium to even redloop prices to basic levis jeans..... Nice to see 👍
Give me Levi’s or pefrrerably Wranglers any day. Jeans lost their purpose, they used to be affordable and reliable pants that cowboys and workers could use while working and now they are just expensive designer denim pants that wouldn’t last long, and their sole purpose now being only to show off.
Exactly 🤣 when my jeans start to get holes I throw them away. If I paid $200.00 for a pair of jeans with holes I’d consider myself an Idiot Of Humanity.
Citizens of Humanity jeans last the longest of all the brands I've tried. I have pairs that are over a decade old with no tears or holes but just slight fading. Other brands fall apart just after a few years and some like Diesel even sooner.
This is a very misleading video in spite of all the good intentions. 1. The video simply compared two brands by assuming that any type of jeans from a brand could represent the overall quality of the brand. Unfortunately, that’s not how it works when brands make clothes. Different types of jeans can vary significantly even though they are made from the same brand. And from my personal experiences, Levi’s quality varies across a very wide spectrum - meaning that with $80 you can still get some good-quality ones but also many that are just made more roughly. While at Citizens of Humanity, the quality variation is very minimal - I’ve got Charlotte, Olivia, Rocket, Racer, and Chelsea. None of them falls behind each other’s quality. 2. The video basically ignored the comfort level of those different materials. A pair of 60% cotton-30% Polyester jeans can be light and stretchy for sure - and it usually creates the illusion that the stretch equals to “comfort” - but if you have curves and wear them for the entire day, your skins feel unable to breath. And even though there are few exceptions (for example, Levi’s now has a more premium line for sustainable wellthread material which is 50% cotton 50% recycled material, and they are real good quality), basically Levi-jeans at $80 price level will not be able to meet that standard - which all CofH jeans will easily excel at. It’s also quite funny to hear the comment on Levi’s being “lighter” - i did find that on my Levi’s jeans and that was a very positive way to view its lesser durability lol Some CofH jeans, like Rocket, are also “lighter” but you could clearly feel they crafted the material differently and much better - it was incredibly soft but sturdy. 60% cotton just couldn’t give you that given the limited craftsmanship we have so far developed. Of course, the video is still meaningful for people who are not yet comfortable with spending $250 on a pair of jeans - rest assured that the affordable lines of Levi’s are great buys given their prices. But for those who actually are able to spend more, it is worth noting that sometimes it just takes some prices to get some qualities, eg. exceptional comfort that does not sacrifice durability, that seem easy at the first sight.
Levis are much better than COH for the price………….. I mean just look at them! The COH look like are out of style from the moment you buy them. For 190 you can get American made selvedge quality denim! Compare Apples to Apples. Levi 501 (Button fly, 100% cotton), the true classic, is what you should bring to the table (they can be had for very cheap). Or even the 505 from Costco (29 bucks), made in Mexico and 99% cotton and 1% elastane. They will last an eternity. As a pseudo denim head, please compare things equally!
Terrible comparison, first need to compare per style, weight of the fabric and then the jeans construction. All manufacturers buys denim from the same suppliers and the worts is there is no 15oz jeans, now 10 to 13.5 oz weight fabric to make higher profits. Those who buy expensive jeans they just pay brands name,
Your test is flawed in level to level and material. Levi started adding other materials for stretch. Also, the Levi’s you would find at TJ Max will not be the more desirable styles and quality,
