I have had 5 cavaliers over the last 26 years, my first one Rupert was a black & tan, he lived to nearly 15yrs. I also had a beautiful Blenheim Max, who lived to 12.
I then had Rocco another black & tan who only lived to 8.
I now have Ruby who is a Blenheim she is 8, and Winston a Tri who is 7, he is already on heart medication. I have loved them all, they are the most wonderful dogs in the world.

Cavaliers have absolutely the best temperament - loving and happy natures. Ours had separation anxiety as she got older. What did not fade was her thinking that she was the Queen of our street. She barked at everything and everyone (yes, she was spayed). She adored chasing a ball, and would do it for hours. She loved fresh vegetables and fruit, and always had a good appetite. She did not snore, but she certainly did shed. She was a marvelous traveler in the car. They are nearly a perfect dog. The main drawback? Cavaliers have a huge percentage that will have heart disease - some say a 60% chance of inheriting that problem by age ten. We lost her to congestive heart failure at eleven years, seven months. It broke our hearts.

    Contradictory in places and repeating.....
My dog sheds, my dog snores, my dog WILL growl or bark at strangers on our property, she wants to play A LOT, she goes for walks and we let her off lead and she comes back, she is trained to recall. She rings the bell when she wants to poop outside and she is very greedy, (if we let her eat everything she would). She's a cavalier and I love her. My little squidge 🥰

Our cavaliers lived only 8 years as each had heart valve problems. They shed hair continuosly and snored like thunder. They were great wee dogs and worth every penny and all the attention we could give them. Had to fence the whole place well and keep on a lead when out as they have no road sense and are easily distracted so run off! Very lovable in spite of all this. She had a great cardiologist who did his best when she got ill. She was managing agility courses until two weeks before she died, peacefully at home. She enjoyed life till the end! We miss her so much. Three days ago we got a Blenheim boy, 11 weeks old, who’s great grandfather was her father- so he seems a family member straight off. It seems getting Cavaliers from a responsible breeder is so important for staving off the health issues. Growing up, we had two cavaliers, one blenheim (female) and one tricolor (male), from the same breeder. Had them through childhood until college. Both lived to be around 14 years old and didn't have any heart issues at all.
They were the sweetest, most adorable and affectionate little cuddlebugs you could ever ask for. Monte was our polite gentleman and Princess was our wild child (wish we'd known about dog agility back then). Filled our lives with so much joy. My sister had walking pneumonia for several weeks in middle school and so was home alone a lot recovering, and Princess (usually all over the place) never left her side and gave her so much comfort. Monte had elderly owners before we got him, and Mack died with Monte on his chest, and a year or two later, Monte helped his family find Agnes who had fallen and passed away in her closet. Monte never left her side.
Just the best little family companions. Cavaliers love laps and snacks, and never want to be out of your sight!

Informative and lovely but a couple of things not included: Chestnut and white is always known as Blenheim (pronounced: Blen - im) in the Cavalier world. Average life expectancy is around 12 years of age. No they aren’t highly intelligent compared with other breeds (except emotional intelligence, they have a high ability for empathy and are in tune with their owners and provide much emotional comfort accordingly). Training isn’t always easy and can take a long time. No you can’t place limits on cuddle time but agree that the dinner table is out of limits.
2:04 That’s not a Cavalier, the smooth ears are not breed standard. It looks more like a beagle.
Absolutely don’t carry them around in a bag! This is terrible advice and could lead to all sorts of problems. They are dogs first and foremost and not fashion accessories.
An adult Cavalier does require more exercise and will happily walk for an hour or more each day, more if allowed. Equally they will snuggle with you on the sofa if the weather is extreme and you don’t want to be drowned that day!
Yes they do snore and very loudly! Any cavalier owner will confirm this.
Grooming: Yes they shed a lot! If you are house proud then this isn’t the breed for you. 🐶 🐾 🐾

People who breed Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and English Bulldogs are egoistic pieces of shit. Cavaliers are prone to several significant issues including heart disease. They also suffer from luxating patellas, allergies, hip dysplasia, cataracts and syringomyelia. Oh and they also have a skull that is too small for the brain, which causes headache....Stop the breeding of these types of dogs!! It's unethical! Also stop breeding dogs who can barely breathe! These include: Bulldogs (French and English), Boxer Dogs, Boston Terriers, Pekingese, Chinese Pugs, Lhasa Apsos, Shih Tzus, and Bull Mastiffs!

They all do not like to travel in a car. They can bark lots if they want you to stop what you are doing and go for a walk! Also If they do not want to do what they are told. Some do not like to eat and have to be very hungry before they will eat. Powerful shoulder muscles and good sized feet can make a wilful Cavi difficult to control on their leash. I have just bought a front control harness which appears better than the over the nose version for this breed. Immensely affectionate, some Cavi’s can also become the ‘top dog’ in the house and set their rules.

They like to watch TV and bark anytime they see another dog, horse, cat, cow, badguy etc. Also bark anytime someone walks by my the front window. And just to warn you, if you get a male.... he will hump like you have NEVER SEEN BEFORE!!!!!! Our Rottweiler went in heat and he humped for 2x weeks straight.DAY AND NIGHT! Thought he was gonna blow out his little old back or have a heart attack. Our ruby is a runt but she can snore louder than a 300 lbs man. They are still my favorite dogs though and always will be. My cavalier does not bark at the door, she will, however, growl at people men mostly when they come in if is not around them too often. Like our plumper when he comes from time to time or the Electrician to do a job.
she also can not travel well she gets sick if she is in the car for too long ( half-hour is too long for her before she is sick ).
she also fine with my other pets I.e rabbits, birds and the other dog which I own.
Also, she has a stage three heart murmur which is apparently common in this breed as well She is on medication for that which she takes one tablet twice a day for the rest of her life.
Spice is a loving dog but does not like cats... OR rats that come into the garden. Spice is not much for toys but is very food motivated so teaching her new tricks is easy when you have her favourite nibble. She loves cuddles normally for around 45 min in the morning before I go to my Voluntary work then for a half-hour when I come back. (I'm only gone for 5 hours at most each day that including travelling). then an hour in the evening once all my cleaning is done and I've had dinner. Spice goes out for 1 hour and 20 min walk throughout the day this is both from a 10 min walk to a 40 min walk depending on what I'm doing that day and what the weather is as well.
Spice is my bundle of joy... her and Domino my 10-year-old Cocker spaniel. Would not be without them.

I fell in love with Cavaliers because of their "look" and from reading about how sweet they were. I wanted one for years even though I never spent time around one. But, one night we went over to a friend's house and a tricolor Cav unexpectedly greeted me at the door. My friend had just taken over custody of it from her cousin, and I got to confirm firsthand how amazing and loving they were. I was completely sold! It wasn't until a few years later until we had a house with a yard and could afford one.
Now, we have a blenheim boy named Benny who is almost 2 years old. He is the sweetest, most loving little creature and is our world! My husband loves him as much as I do. We got him at 8 weeks old. He admittedly cost a pretty penny but was worth every cent and SO much more.
Also I uploaded a couple videos of Benny if anyone would like to see him in action 😁
