"I'm so excited!!" Sang the Pointer Sisters in '84. Yep, that is me! Just ordered my Wavestate MkII from Andertons half an hour ago! My second synth in 6 & a half months to compliment my Korg PA600. Thanks Andertons!
I love how the man from Korg plays at 6:12, along with the sound. I love Analog, but you to need to compliment it sometimes. There's a huge history of sampling included in the box. Luvleh.
@@TheDrSwank Great comment, you may be almost as old as me! I’m playing PS5 right now, I’ll need a recap on this vid from 4 years ago before a better reply 😎
Well... that's if you use those PRESETS, so a lot of people like you will write the same 'film soundtrack'. And if you don't use presets and try to program your own sounds, maybe it won't be so easy to get that 'instant OST' feel.
@@msxwiki The vector joystick is key here! along with the random button, KORG knows no one is making the same sound with the massive library of sounds in it.
I ended up buying one - had it now for a few months. And yes, it is still a VERY complex synth to program. The dedicated knobs etc do make some of it easier, but there are endless pages of menu diving. It's possibly even less intuitive than the Wavestation IMO. Editing patches while playing is definitely easier, but programming your own patches is...interesting. Very happy to have bought it though...a superb synth, incredible depth and a real beast. Surprised at how old school it can sound too - the Wavestation was pure digital sounding, the Wavestate can sound very fluid and analogue when you use the oscillators, MS filters etc, then mix the fat sounds alongside its more digital nature and it shines. And the FX are a standout - so big and powerful I usually end up dialling them all back for actual mixing. It's harder in some ways than the Wavestation but it's infinitely better too. I haven't used my Wavestation once since I got the Wavestate. It really is a beautiful thing.
Also....the Wavestation wasn't exactly easy to program. I can just imagine how death-defyingly mindbending the Wavestate must be. To anyone who pooh-poohs one song on a keypress....you have to program it first. And if you can get it to play a song on a keypress...you'll deserve it. Believe me, it doesn't just play songs without an awful lot of blood sweat and tears.
Have you watched any of the reviews yet? The majority of the controls have dedicated knobs and the menu diving is pretty minimal all things considered. I mean yeah it’s still gonna take some work but you phrased that as if it’ll somehow be harder than the original Wavestation.
When it was designed and trialed, a DX7 was literally sat on the bench behind it for half a year lol. Along with the original WS and several others. I suspect you haven't a clue what you are talking about; it objectively surpasses the m1/x7 and although I was sorry to see them go, I simply haven't got the room to keep them.
@@HotStrange Ultranova is truly minimal on the menu-diving, this thing is relatively typical-workstation-tier from what I saw in the loopop vid. At least it is not D-50/D-05/MOXF level of awful.
Licinius Varrus I guess we’re gonna disagree because I think the d-50 is one of the greatest synths ever made. But the WaveState is very much a real synthesizer and is honestly more powerful than the majority of synths on the market right now. It’s almost stupid how much it can do.

Same. Pre-ordered a couple of days ago, not been this excited by a synth ever. The lush sounds of iWavestation are great but the controls on this thing and the wave sequencing 2.0 are a joy to behold.
The vector joystick makes it MUUUCCH more useful! I sold my Medusa and ended up buying the Wavestate . As my wife said! Day and night different! But Both of them are incredibly good sounding instruments.
Exactly like the wally boards from the 90s.....but I'm getting one. All software has the push a button make a song thing going now and I don't have time to sculpt a sound over 3 hours. I do plan to try and play around with those guitar sequences/patches and stuff though and probably replace the beats with my own externally. The bells and strings sounds are fantastic as well.
That is truly impressive and for an ok price point. Perfect for deep, evolving pads and textures something which I absolutely love in my productions! Counting my pennies to see if I can afford this :)
