I Bought the part on Amazon for about $160. I watched your video before doing this and now that I am finished... I agree with you 100%. IT was VERY frustrating. there were times I wanted to climb in the engine compartment and just play tug of war with the car. I removed one of the bottom hoses from the top and the other I took off while twisting and exposing. I recommend swapping all those quick disconnects with the "screw on worm type" to make it easier to complete. I would almost consider taking the radiator out to do this since I practically put everything else to the side. Not a fun job but easy enough. Lincoln LS you are a true pain.
I found out I needed one because I took my car to a shop and had it tested. That's when I was told I needed a heater control valve. I try to find shops that inspect for free
I paid about $170 for mine. I had a mind to go to a salvage yard to look for one. But I didn't want to go through that frustrating effort of taking one out of there and putting one in there and then finding out that the one that I put it in there is no good.
No that is very true might as well getting a brand new one is well worth it I wasn't expecting to be that expensive but I will replace it soon ...!!! Thank you your very helpful and I appreciate ur videos on the vehicle ...... Where did you purchase ur valve at..???
thanks anointed 1 for the info you are very meticulous in your work, you probably already know about Lincoln vs cadillac web page, I just found that site it has lots of info. stay positive
+LilTrayHomie2K 4Life mine was only blowing cold air when I had the heater on. I went to a mechanic shop that did a free inspection and they told me it was the heater control valve. And they showed me where it was.
I would suggest dis-connecting the electric, and bracket hardware, then undo each hose AWAY from the DCCV. Pull the whole spidery mess out and transfer the hoses onto the replacement valve one at a time without having to work in cramped quarters. Far more easy and should save a lot of time.
Great Video and very Helpful..Question: Would you know how to hook up an Electric Cooling fan replacing the Hydraulic Cooling Fan? And how would you bypass or what would you do with the Hydraulic Cooling fan lines and pump? Thanks again for the great video
It might fix your problem. I took my car to a mechanic shop to have it tested. The person came to the conclusion that my problem was the heater control valve. That person was correct
Hello, I changed my dccv last night and disconnected the three upper hoses with the quick disconnects. Im unsure if I lost an o ring on the quick disconnect (the lowest one) that has the plastic elbow. do you remember if that lower quick disconnect hose has an oring in there or does it just click on. Thanks your videos have been a great deal of help.
I purchased mine from the dealer. The dealer I go to give me better prices than the parts stores most of the times. Most of the time they will reduce the price for me.
It could be the heater control valve. I had mine tested at a shop to make sure that was the problem. I was showing the location of the heater control valve because some people don't know what it looks like and some people don't know the location.. Therefore I did it just the save people time.
. If you you look under your car you will see how many bolts are there. I think it's only one. Its hard for me to remember how many and I'm over 100 miles away from my car at the moment. I unhooked two of the hoses from the top and pulled it out with those hoses.
I am wondering if this is the problem on my 2003 Thunderbird. I am getting constant heat on both driver and passenger air vents no matter what temp I set it to. And I know for a fact the air conditioning is working. Its almost like the heater is stuck open. I'm thinking I might change this first as process of elimination.
I found out by getting a free inspection. If you're around mechanic shops call around to see if one would give a free inspection. I would even pay around $40.00 if I have to instead of doing all that work and finding out I was wrong.
@@robertmanning3922 Sorry for not replying sooner everyone. Anyways the Thunderbird has gotten fixed and I also have a 2004 Lincoln LS now that also had the same problem. It was in fact the heater control valve. They are magnetized and one valve was stuck open. Once I replaced the valve, the air conditioning was working nice and cold again. Both the Thunderbird and Lincoln were the same as they are both sister cars. The Tbird is the V8 and my Lincoln LS is the V6, both great engines!.
Thanks for the response @mifanointed1...... Very helpful I located the valve on my car and yes very tight to get to I called on the part and it was 200 dollars so I might wait a week or two to change it how much did u get yours for...??? I also read that that same year t-bird heater control valve would fit like a glove on this car too n I seen alot of t-birds in the junkyard....???!!!
Also I own a 2000 Lincoln LS V8.. My heater and defroster dont work, my A/C works but not the Heater & Defroster .. what would this problem be coming from? Could it be my Heater Control Valve?.. If you have any ideas please fill me inn..Oh yeah why were you showing where the Heater Control Valve is located? Did you have any problems?
Hi, I'm having the same trouble out of mine. I did change my heater control valve because it was clogged with radiator stop leak are something but still no success. Did you ever figure out what the issue was

My heater wasn't working and the mechanic shop said it was the heater control valve. If I don't know what the problem is I have a shop do a free estimate and then try to fix it myself.
This past weekend something involving antifreeze literally exploded in my engine bay and is now leaking bad (car not driveable), anyways I noticed in the conversations below y'all were talking about the heater not blowing hot air and that was the case with my ls (2001 v6) right before the "problem" occurred. Do you think this heater control valve is the culprit?? I'm really worried that this car is starting to nickel and dime me I just changed out the pcv valve under the manifold that was causing the car the stall and run "lean" it was a major project, major money. Please Someone Help!!!!!!!!!!
Almost willing to be it was the degas bottle. Ford really pulled a fast one on ensuring that one small component failing makes the entire car do the foxtrot.
my 2001 ls v8 won't turn over right away but once it does I can turn it off and start it right back up I'm starting to think it's my fuel injectors do you have any suggestions? I'm 90% sure it's fuel related
I have a 2000 lincoln ls v8 problem I have my ac works when the blower is on low, once I set it on high it stops cooling? also when I set in the heater it just blows regular air? please help with some tips ??? thank you...
