I'm quite disappointed with the 2nd half of the drama. We never saw how jeongha achieved her own dreams. She doesn't looked like a main lead in this drama. Park Sodam is a great actress, just so sad that she had a small screen time in that drama.
Yeah! I felt like Jeongha's character is just an attachment to Hyejun. They never let her character grow in this drama. I would've suggest more scenes about jeongha's personal life.
as much as i agree to this, what more is there to show for jeongha? the struggles of her becoming a make up artist were already shown in the first few episodes. she overcame that and built her own studio and then slowly got clients. as much as i want to see more, what is there really to be shown? she already made ammends with her dad and her mom was a hopeless case. i can't think of any more conflict to resolve. although i agree with the small screen time, i just can't think of anything else that they can add for her. maybe they should have spread out her story throughout the episodes and not resolve it earlier? idk meanwhile for hyejun and other male characters, there were still a lot left to tell. for hyejun and haeyo: enlistment, career, and family issues. for jinu: career as well and breakup with haena. is it possible that a lot of us find it lacking just because they didn't really explicitly end up together unlike in most dramas? because looking back into other dramas i've watched, there's always a main character that has a deeper story and is more focused on than the other, even if there are actually two leads in the drama.
@@zhkdlsoo I think the minor problem with ROY is that they have a short time to tell many stories. But we've seen in the last 4-5 episodes that ROY focused more on issues that attacked Hyejun. I think they could've use that time to tell us more with jeongha. Honestly, I skip his grandpa's part 'cause I've been waiting for jeongha' s part. I think we can still dig deeper to her story because almost everybody are not satisfied with what they've seen.

I'm kinda disappointed with this drama becoz they didn't show any justice to the title. They gave only importance to lead actors but not the actresses. They showed the development of Hye jun's character but not Jeong ha. This same with the case of Jin woo and Hae na. Bo gum and So dam have flawless chemistry but they didn't use it much. Their screen time was very less while progressing the story. And sometimes they gave importance to his family members and their character development but not the lead actress. Since the title points to the life of youth they should have focused it on more. I impatiently waited for the episodes but now I'm feeling down. Setting and the osts are amazing. Almost all songs are on my Spotify playlist. If possible they should do a second season and show some justice to the title and relationship between the lead actors.
Same! I felt the same the time I finished the drama. They never highlighted jeongha's life . We never seen her reconcile with her mother. They sabotage jeongha's character just to highlight Hyejun. She seems to be a cameo in the drama
And it's not right to just fast forward and boom jeongha suddenly got successful. I never hated bo-gum but I just want see more of Sodam's acting. The second half just disappointing. All the lame accusations to Hyejun made the drama so boring for me.

They should have put more episodes for us to see JH's achievement and the others. I know it's hard to film a lot of episodes but they just said 2 YEARS LATER and that got me angry. Even without them ending up together they should have tried to show us JH more than only hye Jun. This drama needed 2 more episodes. I understand the creative direction and the story they wanted to tell might not result in a happy ending for the audience but it was too abrupt! We were just being invested in their struggles in dealing with the scandal so the 'break up' resolution felt too unreasonable at this point. I understand that Jeong-ha was struggling but considering how she handles conflicts (at least from what we know so far), this seemed like something her character wouldn't do! Hae-na also deserved a better story line, they didn't give her enough time in the story! This could all be easily resolved with adding 2 more episodes to explain lose ends and let the audience digest the direction of the story. Instead, the last episode felts rushed and conveniently ties the stories of each character. Jeong Ha deserved better as a main lead, the only change we saw was that she got a car and a new assistant? What happened to the "I want to make my own makeup brand." ????? Also Hae-Hyo deserved better, he was the guy who didn't make advances to the girl he liked and continuously tried his best despite being controlled by the mother. Overall: underwhelming.
The beginning was good but the ending was really disappointing. The story lost after epi 10 and I honestly stayed only for bogum. Even if the main leads don't get back together at least the other characters should have an ending like they just rushed for it to end. And idk jeong-ah character became frustrating like why would you breakup with someone just because he's sorry? What do you expect girl a perfect relationship? He's a famous actor who barely has time to sleep takes 5 min from his schedule just to meet you girl doesn't your heart melt ? Like the reason for breakup was totally unreasonable it was trash idk. It felt like hye jun was the only one keeping this relationship. Their relationship aside, What happened to hae yo? Haena,jin woo,lee tae su,do-ah ? Hae yo didn't even confessed his feelings?Like too many loopholes? I was expecting the agency jampong or jajangmyeon(I'm sorry I forgot) becoming an extremely successful agency with a big office but aghh i don't know the writer just disappointed me too much. I get why hae yo didnt reveal his feelings. why admit something that is not going to work anyway. what good would it be except to create awkwardness. He wants to keep his friendship with Bo Gum, sometimes in life. opposite sex love isnt everything. Friendship can mean a lot too.

Congratulations to all the cast and staff of ROY. In only 16 episodes you were able to showcase the indiviuduality of the youth (main characters) in connection with each supporting actors. This story able the viewers to think, analyze and interpret each words and actions of each characters, not spoonfeeding. and most importantly the lessons for the youth nowadays and parents as well. Again Congratulations, highly recommended for you guys to watch. Bonus if it has season 2 for the continuation and to centero the love story of Hyejun and Jungha since this one is about the record of youth.
It was an open ending. Don't get me wrong but I guess its part of reality on celebrities that they break up but if you look at it, she is still very much inlove with him (and same with Hye-jun, he never gave up on her) when she met Hae-hyo at the library. She left right away because she still pictures Hye-jun when he saw Hae-hyo. That place was their first date (?) and that meeting was special for both of them since Hye-jun also went at the same spot before he left for the military training...that somehow he will see her there for one last time.

She kept herself busy over the years he was in hiatus. If you notice her the reaction of her face the time they met again after 2yrs. I know many were disappointed with the ending but I think it lets us decide what the ending was . She had on his shoes two years later . It wasn’t about the comfort of the shoes but I felt it was like keeping apart of him with her . Who knows maybe they did get together maybe they didn’t but I loved the fact that it was realistic and they were on different places in their life and was able to speak and smile and talk . I thought the ending of Crash landing on you was bad, but this is just on another level! 😩😩😩 I kept looking at the time left when they were wasting time on his grandpa’s award and his discussion with his Dad. I already started screaming when all they gave us was less than 3 mins of them at the end 😭😭😭. It was good while it lasted tho. This had the potential to be one of the top 3 dramas this year😢
i stopped watching at ep 12. i'm so sad that my favorite drama turned into the worst. they didn't do justice to the female lead character. park so dam just being a cameo in her own drama.
I think the last 4 eps were quite rushed bcoz PBG was enlisting into the military in Aug. I remember PBG had to enlist exactly a week after he finished filming this drama. Hye Jun’s mum even mentioned in an interview that they had to quickly shoot the last 4 eps so that PBG could enlist on Aug 30th. I guess it could be one of the reasons why the last 4 eps were not well written and edited. The ending wasn’t great but let’s just appreciate how the plot was nicely built until Ep 13 :)
I've watched this drama till ep 8 and then I got to know that they didn't ended up together and I gave up not because they had sad or open ending but because I was too much invested in this drama and was sooo relatable to me that I went into deep thoughts and started feeling anxious ,.....after watching sooo many drama I found this one the most relatable one that I even cried in their happy moments too butt it took me a whole day to get out of that feeling 💔
That’s how I’m feeling right now and that’s why I came here… I started watching ROY yesterday 7/8pm and it’s currently 6am of a new day. 9 episodes later, started feeling anxious because everything is leading up to a sad/ open ending so decided to look for spoilers that won’t spoil much haha and now I’m contemplating if I should finish it. I love how in love they are! Their chemistry is everything, I’ll be heartbroken and cry if they break up 😅😅😅🥹🥹 I’m torn between continuing to watch or just stop here and salvage the happy memories 😂😢🙏🏾

Now I finally managed to watch it😅🥹🥹 I did watch 2521, Youth of May and 20th Century Girl. And oh! I cried my life away and honestly stopped believing in happy endings for a while… I was in shambles by the end of them all🥹😢 But my curiosity always gets the best of me. Even if I may not like the ending or even if a movie/drama is too boring, I always end up watching till the very end because I’m curious and also hopeful about having an ending I’ve pictured. With that said, I’m going to finish watching it. I might be heartbroken at the end of it. But I’ll push through and treat myself to a funny romcom later on😩🙈 Ugh but I’m sad already😅

Last night i finished the whole episode of Record of Youth sorry to be honest im a bit disappointed and im not that satisfied the ending of Relationship of Hyejun and Jeongha even though they are in good terms but different of my expectations, anyway the execution is still good... Im looking forward of the next project of Park So Dam and Park Bo Gum they have a good chemistry they look great together...thanks Good speed be safe everyone ❤️

Guys, don't be sad n disappointed with the ending. It's a sweet n lovely ending. They still love each other as HJ says : I don't want to break up with you. JH says : I love you b4 let's break up This is called love. They meet again after they both achieve their dream n be successful. They are now on par as each other. Now, they can face any obstacles that come their there after n be happy forever. Not every kdrama need to end with hugs n kisses
If you really love that person and you know in your heart that he/she love you too but you are going through hard times,don't opt for break-up,fight for your love.After all,love is always worth fighting for.
This show had a promising start but it went downhill considering how hyped up the people was before. 18 again I must say is a surprise treat! Love watching every second of that drama! So heartwarmingggg
Saw many hate comments regarding the end of the series so I was hesitant to watch the series but after some episodes the family dynamics was so excellent. I saw comments saying the brothers acted like immature people for their age but that was the most important relation throughout the drama (people with siblings will understand however old you become you never give up on the chance to fight with them😅😅) also this is my first drama where I really wanted the couple to breakup zero chemistry and the FL was having the same emotion throughout the drama even while dating and breakup she had a lot of familial issues which weighed on her and was pulling the ML down too.
But this is is your opinion about chemistry I personally think that they have the best chemistry. I never see him to have a better chemistry with any other actress and they’re both talented. Great acting ,

I loved the beginning of this drama but the second half of it literally was all about the actors in the show and the main female lead was not developed in the slightest. It was a disappointment in the writing and editing of the show. The actors were excellent throughout.

Honestly few last episodes were disappointing. They kept dragging the same problems till the last episodes. It seems that the writer was losing the depth of the story. Survived it cuz pbg and psd only. Ending was so shallow.
this was one of the highly anticipated dramas this year, the first half of the series was great. but after the main leads became a couple, everything didn't make sense anymore. hae hyo's role as the 2nd male lead didn't make sense, jeong ha's character seemed like a side kick, the 2nd half of the series revolved only on hye jun's controversies that everything else [aka the 2 main lead's moments] was forgotten. they crammed until the last few episodes and gave us an open ending, which was so dissatisfying. i just kept convincing myself that "it's okay, they look happy! did you see how comfortable they are, like how they were in the beginning, they went back to being friends so maybe the love will spark again because you know, love is sweeter the second time around?" 😭
im actually disappointed how it ended: Joeng ha didnt have a lot of airtime especially with the conflict with her mom. Hae Hyo not saying how he felt with Jeong ha and not saying it to his best friend Hae Jun. what happened to Hye Jun’s former manager and Do- Ha; how hye jun picked up his popularity after military service and what happened to Hae hyo’s career after military. oh well.

Wake up everyone! This is a realistic drama, not a fairytale of Disney. If you're getting bored with the plot, it's because the realistic plot which resembles that our life actually sometimes just like going nowhere. We want to skip those episodes because they're not pleasant just like we want to skip the hard times in our life and get the happy ending. This drama help us to reflect our youth and dealing with the reality of this world. Everything doesn't have to be marvelous or dramatic just like some K-dramas always give to us and will never happened in our life. But this drama is related to so many stories for the watcher. So go for another Disney movie if you're not ready to get this anti mainstream drama.
Many of us watch kdramas to escape that boring everyday life. So why should we even watch it more in the form of a drama? Secondly, bad writing is another story. Just read the comments and you will see the reasons viewers didn't like this. Also, it's bs that in real life you have to chase your dreams alone.

UNPOPULAR OPINION: But I think it's only right for a realistic drama like this to have a realistic ending (it may or may not satisfactory for you) but the main goal of the drama was to show the circumstances in their youth that leads them to develop, mature and grow from youth to adult, as indicated in the title it's a RECORD OF YOUTH like HH: learnt the importance of hard work and was able to take his life in his own hands(enlisting) JH: showed us that being independent is as important as love HJ: never give up and hard work always pays off Grandpa: it's never too late to pursue your dreams HJ's dad: support is the only thing every child needs and expects from their parents HH's mom: learnt that parents can be their kids critic and guide but can't control them Jinu and Haena- showed us the difference between idealism and realism; importance of being self-sufficient (why they broke up) Each and every character was their for a reason and I LOVED THAT!!! P.S: but do agree that PSD deserved more screen time
I agree, but to be honest, if I watch a romance, I want a happy ending for the couple, not realism. That’s kinda an integral part of the genre. If I want to cry I can watch a melodrama. Just brand your product properly. This can hardly be called a love story, because it was a subplot, unimpactful to the main plot. It wasn’t bad, but I think it was underwhelming and branded in a misleading way.
Just lazy writing to imply that if you really want to succeed, you can't have love too. In real life, if we are talking about realism, it's not either or. You actually can have both.

Jeong Ha' storyline deserved more screen time

The issue wasn't even in the break up but the writing and editing. It started out so great and promising but the ending was quite dissappointing .

We were just being invested in their struggles in dealing with the scandal so the 'break up' resolution felt too unreasonable at this point. I understand that Jeong-ha was struggling but considering how she handles conflicts (at least from what we know so far), this seemed like something her character wouldn't do!
Hae-na also deserved a better story line, they didn't give her enough time in the story! This could all be easily resolved with adding 2 more episodes to explain lose ends and let the audience digest the direction of the story. Instead, the last episode felts rushed and conveniently ties the stories of each character. Jeong Ha deserved better as a main lead, the only change we saw was that she got a car and a new assistant? What happened to the "I want to make my own makeup brand." ????? Also Hae-Hyo deserved better, he was the guy who didn't make advances to the girl he liked and continuously tried his best despite being controlled by the mother. Overall: underwhelming.
The beginning was good but the ending was really disappointing. The story lost after epi 10 and I honestly stayed only for bogum. Even if the main leads don't get back together at least the other characters should have an ending like they just rushed for it to end. And idk jeong-ah character became frustrating like why would you breakup with someone just because he's sorry? What do you expect girl a perfect relationship? He's a famous actor who barely has time to sleep takes 5 min from his schedule just to meet you girl doesn't your heart melt ? Like the reason for breakup was totally unreasonable it was trash idk. It felt like hye jun was the only one keeping this relationship. Their relationship aside, What happened to hae yo? Haena,jin woo,lee tae su,do-ah ? Hae yo didn't even confessed his feelings?Like too many loopholes? I was expecting the agency jampong or jajangmyeon(I'm sorry I forgot) becoming an extremely successful agency with a big office but aghh i don't know the writer just disappointed me too much. Ost were amazing(also one of the reason that made me want to stay). The drama had one of the best cameo appearance but the way it ended was really disappointing.This would have been a lot better. Reallly disappointed. :(((((((
I get why hae yo didnt reveal his feelings. why admit something that is not going to work anyway. what good would it be except to create awkwardness. He wants to keep his friendship with Bo Gum, sometimes in life. opposite sex love isnt everything. Friendship can mean a lot too.

Congratulations to all the cast and staff of ROY. In only 16 episodes you were able to showcase the indiviuduality of the youth (main characters) in connection with each supporting actors. This story able the viewers to think, analyze and interpret each words and actions of each characters, not spoonfeeding. and most importantly the lessons for the youth nowadays and parents as well. Again Congratulations, highly recommended for you guys to watch. Bonus if it has season 2 for the continuation and to centero the love story of Hyejun and Jungha since this one is about the record of youth.

It was an open ending. Don't get me wrong but I guess its part of reality on celebrities that they break up but if you look at it, she is still very much inlove with him (and same with Hye-jun, he never gave up on her) when she met Hae-hyo at the library. She left right away because she still pictures Hye-jun when he saw Hae-hyo. That place was their first date (?) and that meeting was special for both of them since Hye-jun also went at the same spot before he left for the military training...that somehow he will see her there for one last time.

I know many were disappointed with the ending but I think it lets us decide what the ending was . She had on his shoes two years later . It wasn’t about the comfort of the shoes but I felt it was like keeping apart of him with her . Who knows maybe they did get together maybe they didn’t but I loved the fact that it was realistic and they were on different places in their life and was able to speak and smile and talk . I thought the ending of Crash landing on you was bad, but this is just on another level! 😩😩😩 I kept looking at the time left when they were wasting time on his grandpa’s award and his discussion with his Dad. I already started screaming when all they gave us was less than 3 mins of them at the end 😭😭😭. It was good while it lasted tho. This had the potential to be one of the top 3 dramas this year😢

I think the last 4 eps were quite rushed bcoz PBG was enlisting into the military in Aug. I remember PBG had to enlist exactly a week after he finished filming this drama. Hye Jun’s mum even mentioned in an interview that they had to quickly shoot the last 4 eps so that PBG could enlist on Aug 30th. I guess it could be one of the reasons why the last 4 eps were not well written and edited. The ending wasn’t great but let’s just appreciate how the plot was nicely built until Ep 13 :)

I've watched this drama till ep 8 and then I got to know that they didn't ended up together and I gave up not because they had sad or open ending but because I was too much invested in this drama and was sooo relatable to me that I went into deep thoughts and started feeling anxious ,.....after watching sooo many drama I found this one the most relatable one that I even cried in their happy moments too butt it took me a whole day to get out of that feeling 💔

I started watching ROY yesterday 7/8pm and it’s currently 6am of a new day. 9 episodes later, started feeling anxious because everything is leading up to a sad/ open ending so decided to look for spoilers that won’t spoil much haha and now I’m contemplating if I should finish it. I love how in love they are! Their chemistry is everything, I’ll be heartbroken and cry if they break up 😅😅😅🥹🥹

Last night i finished the whole episode of Record of Youth sorry to be honest im a bit disappointed and im not that satisfied the ending of Relationship of Hyejun and Jeongha even though they are in good terms but different of my expectations, anyway the execution is still good... Im looking forward of the next project of Park So Dam and Park Bo Gum they have a good chemistry they look great together...thanks Good speed be safe everyone ❤️

Saw many hate comments regarding the end of the series so I was hesitant to watch the series but after some episodes the family dynamics was so excellent. I saw comments saying the brothers acted like immature people for their age but that was the most important relation throughout the drama (people with siblings will understand however old you become you never give up on the chance to fight with them😅😅) also this is my first drama where I really wanted the couple to breakup zero chemistry and the FL was having the same emotion throughout the drama even while dating and breakup she had a lot of familial issues which weighed on her and was pulling the ML down too.
But this is is your opinion about chemistry I personally think that they have the best chemistry. I never see him to have a better chemistry with any other actress and they’re both talented. Great acting ,

I loved the beginning of this drama but the second half of it literally was all about the actors in the show and the main female lead was not developed in the slightest. It was a disappointment in the writing and editing of the show. The actors were excellent throughout.

this was one of the highly anticipated dramas this year, the first half of the series was great. but after the main leads became a couple, everything didn't make sense anymore. hae hyo's role as the 2nd male lead didn't make sense, jeong ha's character seemed like a side kick, the 2nd half of the series revolved only on hye jun's controversies that everything else [aka the 2 main lead's moments] was forgotten. they crammed until the last few episodes and gave us an open ending, which was so dissatisfying.
i just kept convincing myself that "it's okay, they look happy! did you see how comfortable they are, like how they were in the beginning, they went back to being friends so maybe the love will spark again because you know, love is sweeter the second time around?" 😭
im actually disappointed how it ended: Joeng ha didnt have a lot of airtime especially with the conflict with her mom. Hae Hyo not saying how he felt with Jeong ha and not saying it to his best friend Hae Jun. what happened to Hye Jun’s former manager and Do- Ha; how hye jun picked up his popularity after military service and what happened to Hae hyo’s career after military. oh well.

Wake up everyone! This is a realistic drama, not a fairytale of Disney. If you're getting bored with the plot, it's because the realistic plot which resembles that our life actually sometimes just like going nowhere. We want to skip those episodes because they're not pleasant just like we want to skip the hard times in our life and get the happy ending. This drama help us to reflect our youth and dealing with the reality of this world. Everything doesn't have to be marvelous or dramatic just like some K-dramas always give to us and will never happened in our life. But this drama is related to so many stories for the watcher. So go for another Disney movie if you're not ready to get this anti mainstream drama.
Many of us watch kdramas to escape that boring everyday life. So why should we even watch it more in the form of a drama? Secondly, bad writing is another story. Just read the comments and you will see the reasons viewers didn't like this. Also, it's bs that in real life you have to chase your dreams alone.

UNPOPULAR OPINION: But I think it's only right for a realistic drama like this to have a realistic ending (it may or may not satisfactory for you) but the main goal of the drama was to show the circumstances in their youth that leads them to develop, mature and grow from youth to adult, as indicated in the title it's a RECORD OF YOUTH like
HH: learnt the importance of hard work and was able to take his life in his own hands(enlisting)
JH: showed us that being independent is as important as love
HJ: never give up and hard work always pays off
Grandpa: it's never too late to pursue your dreams
HJ's dad: support is the only thing every child needs and expects from their parents
HH's mom: learnt that parents can be their kids critic and guide but can't control them
Jinu and Haena- showed us the difference between idealism and realism; importance of being self-sufficient (why they broke up)
Each and every character was their for a reason and I LOVED THAT!!!
P.S: but do agree that PSD deserved more screen time
I agree, but to be honest, if I watch a romance, I want a happy ending for the couple, not realism. That’s kinda an integral part of the genre. If I want to cry I can watch a melodrama. Just brand your product properly. This can hardly be called a love story, because it was a subplot, unimpactful to the main plot. It wasn’t bad, but I think it was underwhelming and branded in a misleading way.
Just lazy writing to imply that if you really want to succeed, you can't have love too. In real life, if we are talking about realism, it's not either or. You actually can have both.
