You did a great job with this review. Unlike other reviewers, you did a great job in covering real world use concerns. Keep up the good work.

Good video - small correction, around 2:30 you said "850 or so megabits per second" - the test shows MB/s, which is megabytes per second. Megabits would be Mb/s, Mbps, or Mbit/s. Big difference, just letting you know :) (1 megabyte per second is like 8 megabits per second).

Format the ssd to APFS for achieving max speed . Usually exfat is less faster than apfs on mac but if u use windows ,use NTFS format for max result.

    Hey there,
Thanks for sharing your detailed review of the SanDisk 2TB Extreme Portable SSD! It's great to hear about your experiences with it. I've been considering getting one myself, especially with Black Friday around the corner.
The fact that it's small and lightweight is a big plus for me, as I'm used to bulkier external drives. Also, the inclusion of both a USBC to USBC cable and a USBC to USB type-a adapter is a thoughtful touch by SanDisk.
I do have a couple of questions, though. You mentioned that the drive's actual read and write speeds were slightly below the advertised 1000 megabits per second. Is this speed difference noticeable in day-to-day usage, or is it still fast enough for most tasks?
Additionally, the heat issue you mentioned during large file transfers caught my attention. Have you noticed any performance or reliability issues related to the drive getting hot, or is it something that you think most users can work around?
Thanks again for the informative review, and I'll definitely keep an eye out for any Black Friday deals on this SSD.
    Cheers!

thanks for watching and your thoughtful questions!
Concerning the speed, for normal everyday tasks for most people I don't think it is an issue. I know of consumer level video editors working off this drive. But I don't know your workflow to make the judgement for you. You should probably run some speed tests on the drive that you currently work off of to see if the speeds I showed will work for you.
I have yet to see any performance issues with the heat. Again this is only noticeable when transferring large files for a long period of time (10+min). Not a deal breaker for me as I continue to use this drive daily til today.
If you plan on getting this drive, please consider using my link as I get a small bonus. Cheers! amzn.to/3Gi3Cbg

My mac mini 2018 is reporting 1000mb/s read/write on 1tb and 2tb Extreme ssd's using Blackmagic test. The Best Buy prices were terrific for such a powerful product.

Be careful with the SSD failures that are prominent for these drives.
