At Christmas time, some people without fireplaces watch that log fire channel. I just put this video on repeat. It's calming and soothing for those of us who live this life. Thanks!
Greetings from Russia. You weld the root with cellulose-coated electrodes, and you already do the facing with basic-coated electrodes (b). I hope you understand what I wrote, unfortunately I do not know the English terminology of electrodes
Hey, I am just starting work as a welder's helper and I was thinking that it would be awesome if you could make a video talking about what makes a good welder's helper and go into specifics on what skills he needs to master to be a good helper. Thanks!
Be able to drink beers, dont try keep up with your welder though. Always be awake before incase you gotta wake him up. Dont drop tools in the dirt, dont wrap cables ugly as fuck, dont shoot sparks at him while grinding, always have a rod ready to pass as soon as his lid is up, think ahead of what you will need for the job, for tie ins you should have a list of tools youll need and have them in the bucket and in the ditch as fast as possible. If you drop a pipe beveller just walk home.
Edge-U-Cation You want a slight 5-10 deg up on your rod. If you watch the puddle the slag will run off to the side and down. This way your not trapping slag in the puddle. You have a lot more heat input control as well. Don’t go more than 10 deg. because you will be preheating the base metal ahead of the puddle. Now you’re likely to have the puddle fall out or blow through from too much heat build up. At that point pack your tools and crack a beer, your done! If you point the rod down going uphill you will get too much heat buildup in the puddle, it will fall out and your trapping slag ahead of the puddle. It will look like shit with x-ray or UT inspections 90% of the time.... ***There’s always that guy that comes in hung over that can always make a great weld no matter what. Go figure? Lol

I thought you point the rod down when going uphill so you don't push slag into your weld
