    literally this kind man helping me prepare mentally and physically before I start my IB course work.... ;-;
    even though I too took 4 HL's (Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science) SL's are English Language and lit, Japanese B.... but to my surprise... I love biology and chemistry a lot and wanna join med school but I'm really afraid of how scary it would be... moreover my love Computer based subject is eternal... I love maths.. but I hate physics ;-;
    Thinking of dropping physics but I dunno whether I should or not... even I really wanted to substitute physics with Business and management cuz I wanna build a career with the combo of Computer Science and Business... I don't even know which uni I want to go in or so.... aaaa so many things to consider here!!

      Ahahaha I understand, don't worry! I'd say stick with the physics and and CS as higher levels if you are able to get good grades in them - you can always transition from CS to business (later on, when you have a job etc.) far more easily than you can from business to CS. Good luck!

      @@MarkosDrakos Thanks bro.. u literally saved me aaaa... but I felt like Japanese B was a wrong choice and I am not japanese actually (I'm from Lebanon) but chose becuz Imma weeb but still the language study is HARD and my school is in Japan... Now It became harder to combine physics and Japanese studies... should've done Spanish instead cuz I was taught a lttle spanish in my school but since I hated that class, didn't bother to keep it outta option... now imma seriously crying

      I would keep physics since you like science. Physics itself is actually quite interesting but what they teach in vce and ib isn’t that interesting so a lot of people don’t enjoy it. I would say it is necessary tho because you can better understand all the other sciences and the universe.

    Hi there, thanks for the advice! I'm about to choose my IB subjects but I'm still undecided. I know I want to take Music HL but I'm set on not taking music or medicine as a career. I have strengths in biology, chemistry, math, music and language/reasoning. I'm looking at perhaps pursuing economics as a HL too, do you have any suggestions of potential career paths I can take? I'm thinking of law as it seems to only require some good reasoning and scores, but I'm so inexperienced I'm not sure how to maximise my options

    Hi! I want to do law so is social and political anthropology a good HL to take?. Also would it be wise to do music HL since im already a performing artist so would it help in proving my interest in it for uni extracurriculars?

    I'm doing 4 highers and (psychology, bio, chem and eng land lit) and I think I'm going to get rid of psych or chem but it's such a hard choice. I feel like psychology is easier (because it's biology and I love bio) but it won't help me in the future OR I can choose chem, but it's harder and it's even more boring and half my career-wants include HL chem and the other half don't include HL chem so....
    It was a very helpful vid though! Got notifications turned on!

    • @MarkosDrakos
      @MarkosDrakos  4 года назад +5

      Hi, those are ambitious choices! If you feel you really need to get rid of one of the two, I would say that psych is definitely easier, so dropping chem makes sense. That being said, you really don't wanna be closing any doors at this stage, as it seems you aren't totally sure of the course you want to apply to. I would say keep the 4 highers until you really cannot manage more, and then think about the courses you want to do, if. the courses requiring chem HL are still valid options, then I would say just drop Psych, despite it being more enjoyable.
      Glad you found value in the video! Ahahaha, next vid will hopefully be Saturday on how I study for tests so keep tuned for that, and share with your friends if you think they might benefit from my videos!

      I had a rly similar subject combination to yours! I agree that its better to do HL chem than HL psych; even though psych is more interesting than Chem you will actually DIE as you approach the exam date cuz every year Bio and Psych are placed back to back. How long are you into IB?

    I want to get into comp sci in college so i chose math aa, cs, and business management hl with bio, arabic b, and english sl.
    Everyone is telling me that i should do physics and drop bio (which i like) but i really hate physics though i most probably need it. I am so confused about what to do. I'm thinking of doing an ap physics exam but the pressure is piling on rn in ib. Whats your insight on this brother?

    hi, i’m debating between history hl and anthropology hl. i really like history and i’ve been very good at it in the past however i’m hesitant to take it because of the low 7% rate. i’m not to sure what to pick, what do you suggest. my other subjects are math physics hl french econ english sl

    • @MarkosDrakos
      @MarkosDrakos  Год назад +1

      Hmmmm
      I'd say that getting a 7 in History probably isn't needed for whatever course you are applying to, given your other HL subjects. Therefore, it is probably ok to pick history, and assume that you may end up with a 6, but that's ok, no one will penalise you for it. If you think it'll really hurt your chances of getting into university (such as if you at risk of a 4), then it may be wise to go with the safer option, but I think you should at least try history, as you really enjoy it.

    Hi! I am considering studying genetic engineering. I have chosen HL math without really wanting it. Is it a good decision to do drop it or should I take HL math for genetic engineering? Thank you in advance!

    • @MarkosDrakos
      @MarkosDrakos  Год назад +2

      Hi!
      I'd say you should probably think about the Universities you want to apply to - if they ask for a 6/7 in maths, but you are at a 3/4, with no prospects of getting higher, dropping to SL is probably a wise move. You will probably be able to find courses that ask for SL maths. If you really don't enjoy HL then I'd say drop it, if the course you want requires it, it probably isn't the right course for you. However, if HL is really a necessity for uni, it may be worth sticking it out.
      I hope this helps! Good luck!

      @@MarkosDrakos thank you for replying. I’m trying to help my son decide on the best option for him. He was born in the UK but we’re Portuguese. He hasn’t adapted well to the Portuguese system, specially on a social level, but a curriculum in English may also be a better option because it’s his first language and he still feels more comfortable with it. However I’m wondering if the IB will be much harder than the regular Portuguese secondary school. Do you know if that’s the case? I appreciate your time and thank you for creating such a helpful RUclips channel
