having the Zone/Part Select on the left over the channel is better than in that right button grid on the Montage . The PCM polyphony is double @256. It also has the full polyphony V-Piano engine using 1 Zone, which Montage takes up 4 Parts for the better pianos. Then there are only 8 Performance parts on the Montage vs 16 Zones on the Roland. No VA engine in the Montage, which is pretty advanced now on the Fantom. Fantom has stereo analog filter effect, dual CV/Gate. 4-part Motional vector pad on screen. Wheels AND joystick on the Fantom. Internal sampling/editing for the sample pads. No XLRs on the Montage, Fantom has XLR outs and combo/Neutrik XLR ins for the sampler or mic, with dedicated reverb. Better onboard sequencer. Why would you buy a dated montage?
As a UI/UX designer, I can say an easy to use keyboard makes a HUGE difference. Fantom is an easy to use keyboard and they nailed the UI/UX. I have a Fantom 6 and there is nothing like it in the market. Sounds are secondary - we can download them (up to 10,000 tones from Roland Cloud for free with lifetime unlock using serial number), purchased more available for purchase or designed on our own. If you buy a keyboard with great sounds but the UI sucks big time that you don’t even want to use it, that’s a bummer and a real waste of money.
I bought this fantom 2 days ago. Coming from a yamaha psr s900, it is uncomparable. It's like driving a family-car and thinking you're the Stig. And then driving a rolls royce witht the umbrella in the door option! The feeling of this keyboard is so nice, I want to keep playing on and on. Being a new kid on the block in Roland-land, I have a lot of things to find out. Hoping for some in depth tutorial vids in the future. A first thing I bumped into was: where is the song-database? I saved a song into a scene, but I don't know where the song database is located? any help would be appreciated.
Bram Lammens, coming from a Yamaha PSR S900?? What a ridiculous comparison! To be just as ridiculous I could say, “coming from my Roland D5 the Yamaha Montage is incomparable.” What a silly comment.
great digital synth, great samples, and even a good sounding modeling engine for the piano....really cool that they went with an analog filter....though it is 2020, these guys should have by now been at least just tacking on a filter at the end of the signal path. What would be EXTRA cool, at $4000, is something slightly fancier, like a dual filter section with sweep through parallel to series, or JD-XA style 4 filter section. also would be cool to have at least one VCO voice. Imagine being able to split the keys, lowest two octaves on 2x VCO bass, then a modelled piano for four octaves, then some layered synth pad or lead on top, and each layer has its own VCF, thatd be soooo great, as great as this really is. I get this is better then anything yet, so i cant complain, but i can lament that the industry isnt bigger, that there arent more customers with high standards for all in one like this. Maybe now that theres the Prophet X and this, maybe it's a new trend.

The player has some magic in his fingers .....
In sounds?Still hesitate between montage(mode),Korg Kronos(nautilus),Roland fantom and kurzweil pc4
To be just as ridiculous I could say, “coming from my Roland D5 the Yamaha Montage is incomparable.” What a silly comment.
brohoop indeed. Hence my comment “its uncomparable” ;-)
Bram Lammens, 👍
Super demo
Thanks! Jimmy is a superb player, which really helps showcase the Fantom! //Jason
great digital synth, great samples, and even a good sounding modeling engine for the piano....really cool that they went with an analog filter....though it is 2020, these guys should have by now been at least just tacking on a filter at the end of the signal path.
Based on feel, features and function, which would you buy... Fantom 8, Montage 8, Kronos 88?

@@MobileMusic So grateful for your input!
What an amazing demo. I wonder how good the keybed of the smaller fantoms are for piano playing?
Can it be "upgraded" to Midi 2.0?
LOVE the "creepy" v-piano playing. Sounds perfect for soundtracks and even symphonic metal type stuff. And ragtime with the detuning. Very cool.
No mention of audio recording or sampling, and is it usb audio/midi CLASS compliant??

Amazing keyboard sounds super also fantastic futures but very bad key noise. It’s question mark. I don’t understand why Roland didn’t gave serious thoughts before introducing the keyboard in market. Nice demo! ❤
i think its not unimportant, that the last beauty he plays is from chilly ganzales, but can tell me someone whtats the name of it ?
I got it myself: "white keys" Chilly Gonzales
the keys seem very noise when touched?
I can imagine yamaha sounds with this powerful features and tweaks. Roland and yamaha should join forces. Roland piano is fabolous tho.
How are the organs?
Love it.
this thing is awesome but I know I cant afford it
It's a stunner for sure.. like he said..no expense spared! //Jason
Maris, If you say or know you can't afford then you are right. You will never have one. Basically Don't ever say you can't.
@@CraigScottFrost if I had anything that I could sell
Roland finance is way to go
Arrange a payment plan.
Looks like a synth sequencer GENOS.
Wut about drum KIts for modern hip hop trap ?
all the tr drums 808, 909 etc. are in the Fantom.
Wenn alles klappt, komme ich im September vorbei und kaufe mir einen Roland Fantom.
Just like cars with stick shifts, rackmount versions of keyboard synths are going extinct unfortunately 😥
What an amazing machine though. Great presentation 👍
19 Yamakorg owners so far knows they bought a toy instead of a real instrument from Roland.
Not really the MODX has a newer implementation of fm & patch compatible with the legendary DX7 something the Fantom can't do on the other hand the Fantom is compatible with all the other sounds in the current Roland line up of synths , so it depends on what you're after they will appeal to many different players.
Thats like saying " BMW and Mercedes owners so far knows they bought a toy instead of a real car from Ford smh
Nice, they've built Omnisphere in hardware xD ...+ a sequencer
Plus it integrates with DAWs so you can use the keyboard and your favourite VSTs and plugins.
Guys nice video, but keybed is noisy as hell.
Ivan Jochner That’s down to us I’m afraid.. our mics were really hot and picked up more than your ears would. Keybed is not that noisy. Go try one and you’ll hear. //Jason
coooll excellent sir
So much PR newspeak. The real machines never live up to the hype.
Hey, stop your mockery, it has four chips inside!
Wonder if they come with fish.
Does it have all the 6000+ sounds from the integra 7...supernatural, srx expansion board cards, pcm, etc.?
Of course not. They are gaslighting people with the Fantom name. The Jupiter 80 wasn't a Jupiter and this is a good upgrade on the FA-8/7/6.
I was interested in the integra 7... was about to order ít, when, at the last second, i saw 'editor- mac only'... that was an instant f%#k you !
I would bet, many years later, there's still no pc editor. ..
Crazy.. maybe the mac users who will buy the new fantom will only represent 5 to 15% of the overall sales. ..and yet, the 85% pc users, with cubase, studio one, etc, probably won't have any kind of editor, integration, etc, before. ..the next fantom is out. ..
Also. . Am i the only one to find the guy on the right looked a bit too... silly ? On the left, a guy, with talent, class, style. . On the right, a guy that tries to look funny, but ends up looking like an idiot. .?
When he says 'i love creating connections'..and almost puts his head over the demo guy sholders, the guy was like, 'WTF !'
Hat das eigentlich einen Grund weshalb aus dem Fantom 6 plötzlich am Ende ein Fantom 8 wurde?
Cubase DAW Integration?
Sensium - owned by Yamaha.
Der Kresic schon wieder...... :-)
Oh yes! //Jason
