bikehikesafari...
Several years of cycling from Alaska to Panama visiting all the most amazing places on this 30000km journey. Bikepacking, hiking volcanoes, canoeing the Yukon River and witnessing the best places to see wildlife. This is the journey of a lifetime.
bikehikesafari...
This is part of my adventure to cycle and hike the most amazing places around the world. The journey involves spending most nights sleeping in a tent and eating budget local meals.

I cycle every day about 20-30 city miles. One day i will take on a major journey like yours. I love your videos. Cheers from Tucson, AZ USA
Cheers glad you like them. I used to cycle the same distance to work and back everyday before I started this journey. Good luck
Give me a shout J C , I’m planning one too 👍
And yet another great video, Brad, thanks! I know, you're not doing what you do to post records or brag about your feats. But you're almost too humble not mentioning what you did during the breaks, like thru-hiking the AT, when you were in the US. I wish you luck with all future endeavours - next probably in NZ from what I hear. Keep your videos coming, they're much appreciated, they're inspiring me and they may well change the way I look at life. I'll take the first plunge and be on the AT come next February. You'll have to take half the blame for that (the other half goes to Dixie). ;-)
Thank you for the kind words. I'll have more videos coming along soon enough. I'm humbled that I've inspired you and to be mentioned with superstar Dixie. Life is short, I made changes to my life several years ago and have no regrets. I hope you enjoy the AT next year, it is a trail that will test you in the best possible way. Good luck.
Truly an amazing adventure! Thank you for sharing your journey. A beautiful video, indeed.
Cheers thank you for the kind words
this deserves millions of views. Subscribed!
How are you? Great video. My name is William and my wife is Shelley. We are going to be biking the pan american trail this coming year and I was wondering if you would mind giving me a call . I would love to ask you some questions
Hi Brad, I only just saw your documentary. Great work ! I'm preparing a bicycle ride from Germany back to Australia at the moment. Will start in about 3 weeks.
I met you in Quito at the casa de ciclistas. Pedal on my friend. Cheers, Detlev
How much did you spend on visa's upon entering each country? Any you would avoid if possible? Any that need planned before? I want to do a trip down to panama and ultimately south america, but I've never left the country. Worried about border crossings... Any tips?
Really a great adventure! Was nice See you in my country Panamá..!! 🇵🇦🇵🇦🇺🇲🇺🇲
Amazing story! Well Done! thank you for documenting it and sharing
Really missing your vids man! When are you making your come back??
Oh wow, I loved the video! Amazing journey!

You are trully living, and living trully. Was great to see this, its still hard to believe youve done and seen all this. This is an amazing documentry and so well put together. I hope you keep on riding and dont stop. Very inspirational. Hopefully some major TV network will buy this and help you out. I havent been on my bike for a year now. Thanks for the inspiration! Ill do a few km today just to feel that amazing feeling of the road moving by.
Thank you for the kind words. Feel free to send to any TV networks!! It is more a love of giving back than a money making exercise. Glad you enjoyed it, get inspired and get out there. Cheers
A great recap of events. Fantastic journey. You mentioned you were back in the Great Southern Land visiting, better say hello to everybody from me and Wilms.
Cheers, thank you. I'm visiting my sister in Sydney. I'll be back in DTown next year. Will be good to catch up with some of the old gang when I get back
really great video, keep uploading more!
More coming in a month or so.
What a great trip, it's on my list. Peddle on
Inspirational.
Your contribution to the fabric of society might help to inspire others to share what is possible - thanks.
I'm just a regular guy out in the wilds doing my thing, glad you enjoyed it.
Didn't you have problems in México roads such as robbery, assaults? I am affraid to Road un México roads because of that. Thanks
Mexico is safe for bicycle tourists. Safer than other countries north of Mexico.
Man.... I work too much.
This video is very well put together. I echo the other comments. I am looking to connect with like minded individuals who would consider traveling the world with camera gear, drones, tripods etc. To create not only amazing memories but amazing photography and video. If you interested. Find a way to contact me, and we can talk.
Cheers Henry.
Mate! Awesome video production! Great to see a video of the whole of your ‘America’s’ adventure!! You’re so inspiring! Thanks as always!!
Cheers, I enjoyed the adventure and enjoyed putting the video together
"Haffway up duh cloimb aye got sick" ie Got Diarrhea LMAO! You have now truly experienced Mexico.
Oh yeah, not much fun but such is life
@@bikehikesafari one of those memorable touring experiences you laugh about later hehe
I really enjoy your videos. I watched your full length documentary of the AT, too. I think that it was one of the best that I've seen, and I also enjoyed this video too. You are quite the intrepid adventurer. Thank you for sharing.
Cheers thank you for the kind words.
WOW what an adventure
Just happened upon your channel today and very happy that I did. Wonderful content - truly inspiring.
Thank you for the kind words
Such an epic and inspiring bike journey. "When it all got too much, just have a beer". That is the best line ever. Much respect amigo.
Thank you for the kind words
Wow, yet another great adventure. Your filming and editing are wonderful. Thanks for sharing your journey with us!
Thank you Joni. It is a compilation of my journey by bicycle that started in 2014. Glad you enjoyed it.
Another amazing video. Thanks again for sharing your inspirational journey!
Cheers, thank you. More videos coming the next couple of months or so. Stay tuned.
What-a-RIDE!!!
Omg I want to do this 😩
Just Do It.
what i'm really mad about is that you only have 2K subs. you deserve so any more and your a really good creator. keep hiking and biking and doing what you wish to do. Love from Maine, USA
Thank you for the kind words, feel free to tell all your friends ;)
It’s because people are so caught up in a miserable routine of daily slave life that they don’t even know that there are things like this one in life that can make you really happy and fulfilled.
AWESOME.
Moved on to this video, after watching your Appalachian Trail adventure, and I'm in complete awe. Hope you're having great time, wherever you are, right now. Cheers from Israel 🍻
That was terrific and has spurred me on even more if that's possible. But one place at a time, UK first, from Fort William and over to Skye, then down the West Coast of the nations to Cornwall; Then West to East. I need to get it all worked out first though fella - I hope in years to come to be able to do Darwin to Perth or Adelaide and follow to see where some of my family went yonks back.
The more I read about bush life the more it appeals, so i want to visit and go bush. Of course i'd be asking the Australian government and tribal councils about that. I heard stories that an ancestor of mine travelled across the great Centre from Victoria to Freemantle, of course I think that's probably nonsense but in my retirement it would be something to check out. Anyway he was from Cairnes I later found out so, it makes it a very tall story indeed...lol. Other ancestors went to Canada, Banff in fact; They were island folk from Skye so hot weather would not suit them. Thanks for the great video I enjoyed and will have a look some of your others.
Fantastic ! 👊
Nice
I’ll be doing some solo bicycle trips but mine won’t be quite this long just up and down the west coast😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
The West Coast has some awesome cycling. Watch out for the crazy drivers just north of San Francisco. 😀
BikeHikeSafari lol I’m talking Seattle and around Washington state as well
Great cycling in that part of USA.
This was an amazing video. Thanks for sharing it. But I wonder, how much does it cost to do something like this? Did you save up money to do this, or maybe get a temporary job? I would absolutely love to do this but am unsure if I would be able to for financial reasons. Thanks
I worked hard, saved lots of money, lived cheaply, didn't buy unnecessary things and lived a minimalist lifestyle.
I was just thinking the same thing would I be able to make it from California to Colombia on bike with 2600 dollars if I lived frugal??
@@solomonrose4925 yes anything is possible.
you are the most interesting man in the world.
Very high praise. Really I'm just an ordinary guy doing slightly less ordinary things.
Brings back fond memories of Central America. Well done! Great overview. You needed to take a beach holiday and treat yourself in El Salvador.... Keep rollin'
Really great video! Love the cycling / hiking / diving mix. I hope you are OK in these hard times!
How many years did this trip take?
4 years with several trips inbetween to go hiking for 6 months at a time.
What cameras did you use?
Gopro, canon g16 and later a Sony rx100
It looks like you're on an amazing adventure.
An awesome adventure, a life changing adventure
Awesome video! I've done many bike trips and you definitely make it look super easy 🚴
Happy that your video showed up in our feed. Great little video you've put together. Obviously, you have way way way more footage and stories to tell!! We cycled for 25 months from March 2013 to April 2015 through 28 countries and 14 US States. However, we have always wanted to do this route as well and fingers crossed... we'll make it happen in the not too far off future. Truth be told though, I (Ron) am a little worried about the big bears up in Alaska/Canada. Did you ever have any issues or close calls? We are familiar with all the suggested bear precautions and didn't notice a bear food container or spray. Also did we hear you correctly that you cycled up to Dead Horse and then you cycled back down? And also did you buy the sailboat or did you hire the sailboat from Panama? Cheers and happy cycling! ~Ron & Petra
Sorry for the slow response. I didn't have any issues with bears but I did meet a couple of cyclists that did. A bear refused to get off the road and bluff charged them. They were ok but very freaked out. I cycled up to Prudhoe Bay and flew back. There are many sailboats that offer lifts for a price to Colombia. Easy to organise. Have fun
Very good! Hi from the cyclotourists russians.
Not much about USA
True. Was more into pho tos back then. Here's the written version. bikehikesafari.com/cycle-touring/cycling-from-alaska-to-argentina/
Brilliant video.
Thank you
Just subscribed to your channel love the content. This video is EPIC 📸👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻📸🙏
Thank you for the kind words.
top notch video editing and BGM selection
What kind of tent/shelter do you use on your bike/hikes? I'm thinking about thru hiking the pct this spring and can't decide on a tent.
Thanks from Montana, U.S.A.
I used a couple of different tents over the years. I like the Nemo Hornet 2P. Small, light, side entrance and enough room for my gear when hiking or bicycle touring. Good luck on the PCT, it is awesome. read more www.bikehikesafari.com/
I went from Wyoming USA to Panama and loved it! More people should try bicycle touring!
Having everything you need strapped to a bicycle is a very liberating experience
Roughly how much total did you spend once you started cycling from Alaska to Panama ?? Keep up the great vids you do and be safe out there...
Not sure, probably around $750 per month in expenses on average. Some places were significantly cheaper than that. It's cheaper to live on the road than in real life.
Greetings. I am just watching your video. Great Journey. Congratulations. Question: What is the brand and style of the handlebar bag you used? I noticed you had front shocks and the bag seemed to be compatible with the front fork. Thanks. Mike
I used Ortlieb handbar bags
great video. I always wanted to travel like this....but its still a dream to me. Anyway, a nice experience for me watching this video. cheers from India.
Manu years ago it was just a dream for me too. I just made the decision to do it, everything else fell into place.
I'm not certain, but there seems to be another person cycling with you in Alaska. Who was this person and did they actually travel with you?
I cycled with many people over the years. We would meet on the road for a day, week or month and cycle together.
Brilliant video! The cycling adventure is what brought me here as it is something I am in the early stages of planning. The laid back way you present yourself and your adventure is to be admired. No bragging, no bullshit, no sales pitch of kit and equipment (though what you use - and more importantly what you find you don't use - is of interest to me) but just a straightforward docu-cyclo-adventure. And on that particular note I have to congratulate you too: this is a very well put together and edited piece of work - so easy to watch and get drawn in to. Fantastic footage. All the very best for your future miles and maybe see you out on the road sometime in the near future.
One negative, if I may? There are other adventure cyclists on here who have done far fewer miles but have posted videos that are many times as long as this video! - you could have easily bumped yours up to 30 minutes or more and still held our attention. You've a great story-telling way that is backed with good cinematography! Looking forward to the next instalment.

Cheers and thanks for the feedback. I'd love to do longer videos but uploading such long videos in remote areas is difficult and near impossible. Respect to those who area able to do it. If I only traveled in areas with good internet then I would certainly look at doing that.
Hi, just stumbled across your channel! If you dont mind me asking, how old were you when you started this journey?
Early to mid 40s.
I subscribed your channel , and enjoyed of all your works ! Hello from Hokkaido Japan :)
Thank you, enjoy
Well done. I bet someday you'll come back to finish South America.
Cheers, thank you. I will be back to South America to finish of the bicycle trip and do some hiking. I'm low on money and need to cash up a bit first.
Good Job
Thank you
Did you have any trouble with the Banditos as heading down the Panama Mexican regions? I've heard stories about some people getting robbed from them or at least harassed. As a women who too is interested in bike touring, it is wise to not travel alone.
I had no problems. Some women have reported that they get lots of attention from the men. In many places they are not as respectful towards women as other places hut certainly safe. And there are many cyclists in the area so you can always meet others to cycle with if you have the same plans and are both nice people. Go for it.
This is a most fantastic piece of content. Epic journey but great story telling and editing as well. Well done!
Thank you for the kind words.
Amazing adventure!!
Cheers thank you
Wow m speechless love your videos Brother keep updates new video so we can watch n learn Many more things from you your brother from another mother 💕😊
Sorry for the slow response. Lots more vids in the planning, just need the time to put them all together

Great video! Do you remember how much you've paid for the boat to Colombia?
This might help. bikehikesafari.com/panama-to-colombia-with-a-bicycle/
Wow looks great =) Thanks for sharing your adventure with us Brad =)
Cheers you're welcome. Glad you like it
30,000km sounds like a whole lot of detours! Beautiful trip though!
Got to love the detours. I would not enjoy cycling on busy highways.
Wow!
Cheers
My ultimate goal is to ride across the U.S. from ocean to ocean. I've never even thought about a journey like this one. Very impressive. Maybe someday.
You have several choices of great routes to take across the U.S. have fun planning
Go for it brother. life is just too damn short. Don't wait the time will never be just right. By the time you think you are ready you will be looking at your birthday cake with the number ' 60 years old ' written over it. Love from a fellow brother.
Where have you been, I miss you vids! Please post more soon!
Making videos is a lot of work. Currently topping up my freedom fund by working. I'll get more vids out when I get more time and money.
Completely fantastic! Hope to see many more , very well done - From Mike a fellow bicycle tourist!
Cheers, I'm having a rest from cycling but will be back at it soon enough
I’m absolutely in awe of all of what you have done... I can’t believe you don’t have millions of subscribers..I noticed that you haven’t posted a video in a bit I hope you are well.
Thank you kindly. I've taken am extended break from social media. It's healthy for the soul. I'll be back into it soon enough

What kind of bike were you riding?

Looks like a fantastic trip, one I hope to do some day.
Yep, a great trip. hope you get a chance to do it.
I'd like to go from Sacramento California to Lima Peru.
Heat? In Alaska, in May??
How did you find your way south? Maps, GPS, what?
24 hours of sunlight in Alaska can make the inside of the tent quite warm. I mainly used google maps and an iPhone App called Pocket Earth Pro for most of my navigation. Maps.me was also a great help. I had a GPS from Garmin but rarely used it, it was a waste of time having it. Good luck with your trip
BikeHikeSafari Thank you! Right now it's just a, would like to. How did you find Mexico, and don't tell me by going south. Hahaha I mean is it safe? I hear from everyone that Mexico is danderous, even from Mexicans who live there.
Mexico can be danderous for the people who live there, specially if they are narcos. For tourists Mexico is generally safer than most USA cities. Of course Acapulco and Cancun are not the safest places at the moment, the rest are great. Really, it is safe, go there and enjoy the Mexican hospitality. I liked it so much I could easily consider moving there to live.
@@bikehikesafari Thank you for the information!
