I appreciate all of the comments for this video! However, let's not be disingenuous and only cherry-pick comments. I understand that Ireland thinks that they have to back Palestine. It is their rights. Again, this movie is about cultural preservation between the UK and Ireland. Putting the Palestine flag didn't enhance the movie. It was a political move. I wouldn't be talking about it if the filmmaker and band didn't put the flag in the movie. I am all ears if someone can tell me the cultural preservation Palestine is doing to keep the Irish culture/religion/way of life/lifestyle thriving. Multiculturalism vs Assimilation vs Integration.
Honestly I feel like everyone in the comments has already explained to you why the Palestinian flag is shown in the film. Your talking about cultural preservation but Ireland and Irish people culturally have a connection to Palestine because of the common struggle for freedom. Ireland has flown the Palestinian flag decades before the current conflict/genocide happening now. Sure we might be different ethnicities or have different religious views but that doesn't matter. Even though we in the Republic are a free and sovereign nation now doesn't mean we don't still feel those 800 years of oppression by the British and because of this we fly the Palestinian flag in solidarity.
@brendancanty3936 Because the movie is about cultural preservation! Struggle for freedom isn't a culture. It is a movie about the British vs Irish. Not a single Palestinian person was in the film because it wouldn't move the movie forward. Ok, let's think about it this way. Ireland supports the Palestinian people...cool. Do they support Ireland back? Will/can you see the Ireland flag in Gaza or the West Bank? What Europe is doing is supporting people and cultures, however, getting stabbed in the back by local cops and the people and cultures they are trying to protect.
@staygold9636 Ego lol. Sure. This proves you only watched one review of mine because I have the same issue with all movies where the filmmakers add something to the film that doesn't move the story forward and their for brownie points. The movie is about the British vs. Ireland. Focus on that. There is no need for B-Roll footage. If one of the group members were Palestinian... sure but no one in the movie was. So why the flag?
Palestine and Ireland have historically had the same common struggle for freedom. That's why many Irish people like to fly the Palestinian flag and vice versa. Just showing solidarity
@brendancanty3936 However, this past weekend, it wasn't like that. It was one vs the other because of idealogy. For a movie about cultural preservation, one side is ok destroying another culture.
