You got me hooked! Now I need to go out and buy the Stone Ramblers knowing I’ve got a fighting chance against Leopards. Forget the Red Wings-I have a truck and don’t need to walk 10 miles. But for Leopards, now that’s reassuring! Cheers mate!
Love my Iron Ranger 8085, the sole break in took it’s SWEET time but I love them now, and they are beginning to be glove like after maybe 5-6 months of regular wear, 3-4 times a week.
Love the Rambler leather. I experienced heel-slip with my Truman Java Wax Flesh boots in 79 last. Sold my 12D, now looking for 11.5D... I wear 11.5D in Iron Ranger. Truman is heavier and not as flexible w/ their commando sole.
I don't have any iron rangers but I do have 3 pair of Trumans. And I have 3 pair bcuz after I bought the first pair, I knew I would buy more as they are the nicest boots I have ever owned. I've actually had 4 pair but sold a pair of moc toes in favor of getting 3 different pair of cap toe'd styles. The Stone Ramblers are probably the next pair I will purchase.
Be a man ! Well said ! Was wearing nike n adidas all my life and my luck with the ladies was ever so hard. Not anymore. And to be honest I did not start wearing boots for that purpose but was a welcome byproduct !!!!
Did you take the same size in both? Love the Truman boots and the stone rambler leather. I tried the red wing moc toes but they don't really fit - narrow but also a bit too long / bit too much volume in US 8.5. In 8 US they are good but even more narrow like a vice clamping your foot! I think the iron rangers are a bit wider than the mocs and the trumans are even wider so I think maybe the Trumans might fit me well in the 8 US. Are they longer as well as wider?
yes, they are the same size. But gotta say - Iron Rangers are also pretty narrow. I dont think they are wider than moc toes, rather vice versa. Truman you can actually pick your own last - these are most typical last no 79
@@vabariik You can get medium or wide in Iron Ranger (8 last). The last difference in Truman between the 79 and the 20 is the 20 last has more inner volume (space) and the toe is higher... More like the IR's bump toe.
Both the same - 10,5 US. Trumans 10,5 is more like 11.5 - enough room for thick woollen socks. Iron Rangers are pretty true to the size, they have also some extra room on toe, but they are on the narrower side.
@@vagabundest Hello, so with the same socks, having 8D Blacksmith (the same last as IR), should I order 7.5D for Trumans ? I would greatly appreciate a suggestion. Best wishes and thanks for video.
Last year I bought a pair of Iron Rangers in dark brown. I wanted them in copper but they didn’t have them in stock any where. Now here in America they are completely out of stock. Even Red Wing has them out of stock on their website. Doesn’t make sense.
Every RW store in my area has full size ranges of CRT iron rangers. They slowed production of heritage boots a lot during the pandemic, and they are focusing more on stocking stores than selling them online with the ones they’re making. My RW stores have surpluses of boots that aren’t even on RW’s site anymore. It seems like they’re starting to ramp up production again though. I’m seeing an increase of online availability.
I was in the same boat a month ago having trouble finding an iron ranger in my size in the copper rough and tough leather, I had good luck with contacting their CS and they found one in a brick and motor store and mailed me it as an exchange for a pair i had bought from a brick and motor store near me, so just because their website says sold out doesn't necessarily you are out of luck.
Hello, so regarding the sizing, according to what you have said: for wearing the same socks for IR and Trumans it seems that the Trumans appear to be half a size larger than IR, for both the boots nominally being 10.5D right ? When I have 8D Iron Rangers, should I order 7.5D of Trumans ? I would appreciate any suggestion, the sizing is a nightmare when buying via internet. Best wishes.
I´d say, you are right. When you buy your true size of Trumans, you will have plenty of room to play with. But buying Trumans half a size smaller means, you may not ne able to wear them with warm woolen socks anymore. Iron Rangers, IMHO, when snug, do not like thermo socks, because they are pretty narrow. When wearing thick socks they become kind of uncomfortable. Trumans, on the other hand, have a classical last, so they are very comfortable with warm socks.
@@vagabundest and @vabariik they finally arrived after weeks of waiting. And you were so right, they fit very similar lenght wise to Iron Rangers. They are stunning boots. Thank you very much.
Thank you! Yes, they are both 10.5 in my case (Truman seems to be about 1 cm spacier). My foot size is 44 or 44,5 (in european measurement) - Iron Ranger 10.5 fit perfectly snug. Truman fits snug with thick wool socks (or even double pair)
They are both US size 10.5. Truman has a bit more room at toe cap - basically with Truman I can wear warm woollen socks, no problem. They are roomy. But Iron Ranger gets a bit too tight with wartmest woollen socks (from sides). They are pretty narrow. Normally I wear 44,5 or 44 number shoes (like, Nike, for example) - its also 10,5 US
IR-s are like half a number bigger than, for example, Nike sneakers same size. Trumans are 3/4 of a number bigger in length (like 1 cm). So they are very similar in that regard, maybe Trumans are tiny bit longer. Trumans also are wider - but at the same time they do not fit more loose , because Trumans leather is far sturdier and it holds more frirmly at upper parts of the foot.
The Truman 79 last is the least form fitting boot I have. My Iron Rangers are much more snug and comfortable. I tried the Truman C-55 last it's a great look but I am a 10.25...10 too small and 10.5 I get heal slippage. I really tried with Truman as the range of leathers is the best. They charge way too much for a moc-toe so I won't go there. The best fitting big boot is the Whites MP by far.
Yeah, for my foot I can't get along with a last with a heel comparable to the forefoot but where they cut the outside curve on the forefoot. My Rangers work great for me, although I'll like them more once they're resoled and get a midsole added. I'm really interested in White's but I don't think they will have enough room in the toe box for me, either. I'll go Nick's Munson-inspired or just get bespoke made.

it is a bit heavy, especially if you are used to very light shoes. But they are sturdy at the same time, which is nice thing. But IR are better for walking a lot
I just wish one boot company would make high-quality boots with side zippers that aren't tactical boots, side zipper boots are so much quicker and easier to put on, lace them up where they feel secure and comfortable once, and from then on with an occasional readjustment it's easy lol
no no no... no side zippers! Those are evil! Real boots do not have any side zippers, because first they let the water through, second they the boot is not fixed strong enough having zippers. In case of pressure the zipper would brake or tear and you´d be hitchhiking barefoot before you know it
