The percolator doesn't work mainly on condensation. The water boils, goes up the spout, and that is what is hitting the glass view knob at the top. It lets you know that it is boiling and you can watch the color to pull it on time, since that color is the coffee from the bottom of the pot a moment before.

You left out the be your own barista coffee brewers! It's hands down the best backpacking coffee set up that exists. Weighs like 1 ounce and brews an incredible cup by combining a pour over and French press in one (kind of). 2 dollars per bag and reusable. Can't beat it.

What if you're in the backcountry and there's a coffee emergency? Do you suggest we initiate a rescue in case the solar cells fail to supply sufficient charge to the espresso machine?

I strongly feel you're not doing a good job of explaining all the options available and declaring what "the best" way of making coffee is, without any comparisons is a bit too much personal opinion, rather than facts and data. Regarding your declaration that percolator coffee is best for RVs and camping. Do you realize that percolator coffee has been around since around 1814? What you're basically saying is that no one has improved on that method? I seriously doubt that. You have the Aeropress with paper filters. Then the Aeropress with the espresso filter screen (one of my favorites for making Americano style coffee). You have the Mocha Pot, which has had a tiny backpacking version for decades. There's the many types of drip coffee, from the GSI Outdoors ultralight to the Melitta drip funnel. Then there's the various cup filter method, including things like the MSR MugMate and the various filter spoons. There is also the specialized coffee bags. These are basically tea bag type things with special filterpaper and sized for coffee instead of tea.
These are all viable methods of making coffee and you just chose the JetBoil french press adapter and a percolator???!
