I use a bamboo toothbrush, very light even with a full length handle. But you can cut it down if you want. Less plastic waste as well. Available from Amazon. Great vid.
Good tips -- I cut the end off of my toothbrush like you do, but then I found out that the end of the toothbrush is sort of important to get leverage . . . not sure if I'll do that again . . .
Ive got long fingers so it works for me. But may not be the best option for everyone. That colgate flip brush might be something to look into for you that I mentioned in my vid as well. Thanks for the input and for watching.
I don't understand why cutting a piece of toothbrush in half is more impt for saving a space, than the convenience of holding it and using it will compromise the cleaning of your teeth thoroughly. 🤔
For plastic bags, check these three places at Walmart. Probably similar at Target. (1) Grocery dept - I prefer Hefty brand zippered freezer bags when that's an option. Style/brand depends on size needed - from snack, sandwich up to 2.5 gal storage bags. (2) Pharmacy dept - plastic pill bags. Usually fairly heavy duty. (3) Jewelry dept. Bags for storing beads & other jewelry making stuff. Smallest sizes there. Not has heavy duty. Inexpensive! FWIW.... as I found them, bought a container of each size of bag. Including 55 gal contractor & trash compactor bags. Store on a shelf, to use, as needed when building various kits. Good to have a supply on hand to replenish and/or to add new items to kits. Hope this helps.
+Charles Marsh Most of the things Im carrying will last for along time. But my girlfriend will mail out anything thing I need that I cant get when resupplying in town.

In the big picture, almost nil, since the smaller storage units are used over and over and over and over again. How many times can the 10 ml bottle be used? Hundreds? Those TINY plastic bags, if properly handled, have a long useful life, as well. To put into perspective, the "repackaging" in this kit has the potential to last, at least a year. Perhaps much longer. Environmental impact appears to be much less than ONE trip to a fast food joint for soda, burger and fries. Multiply that times 52 weeks, for example, to see just how minimal the "repackaging" of this kit becomes.
Please STOP using hand sanitizer over dirty hands. Soap and water. One sleeve of soap and a small amount of water. Then when dry the sanitzer as a barrier.
Wow! I watched this. Now I'm compelled to comment, my apologies. My opinion on the ultra light scene .... Do any of not have OCD? Is this all so you can pack 20lbs of electronics? Have to have a tripod, the latest HD camera, a huge battery, directional microphone and all the sundries that help you stay fresh and pretty so you look awesome on your next RUclips video. Ultra lighters...never went to a gym or played a sport or had a non sedentary job. Oh and I almost forgot, when you come upon other hikers walking your direction, but at a slower pace, pass them, ignore them, and walk faster than you normally do so they'll be impressed with your superior skills.
I dont carry much in terms of electronics. A small powerbank, my cellphone, and a charging cable. All my videos are done from my phone. I dont use any kind of fancy equipment and I spend a minimum of 3 days a week in the gym. As for my thought process for going UL. I can go further and faster then if I didnt. I can carry more food which equates to less time off the trail and resupplying to more time doing what I want backpacking. That and for me I enjoy a minimalist approach and the challenge of always dialing down my gear to only what I really need.

Good call on the tooth paste tablets!
I was still drying my own and had no idea these existed.
Yeah I used to dry my own. These are def an easier eay around that. Thanks for watching.
The cops are going to love that scale with white powder all over it. “But officer, I was just weighing my foot powder”!
Hey, could you also give gramm numbers for your next video (if your scales support it)? Great Video ☺️

Evan's Backpacking Videos Yea, it's hard to brush with it little, I get mine at dollar tree and the weight is not that heavy to me.
Another option is to cut it down to a comfortable leverage level then drill holes in the handle that is left

most helpful video yet. thanks
Monistat makes a great anti chaffing cream. My thighs chaffe pretty bad as i sweat profusely
You are right about UNSCENTED soap...bears love citronella and are fond of mint. The Wilderness Wipes are also unscented...great on the trail.
Thanks for the tips!
Great video man got a couple of great ideas for my kit.
Ever considered bamboo toothbrushes for children? Light and small.
Where do you get these tiny plastic containers? having trouble finding quality ul containers
Trenton Harmon I get them on amazon. Just do a search for 10ml, 20ml, or 30ml bottles and you will find them. Hope this helps

BUG OUT BAG TIME= GREAT VIDEO,,
Are you planning to send packages to yourself along the way on your AT hike. If not, what will you do when some items need refilling?

In repackaging, is the plan to have things sent to you every 4-6 days?
Depends on what the plan is. Is it a short week long hike, thru hike, or 3 day emergency kit.
Well planned system.
Some great ideas.
What's the long-term environmental impact of repackaging, repackaging, repackaging, plastic, plastic, plastic?

*If you want short toothbrushes go go Google and search inmate toothbrush, prison toothbrush or prisoner toothbrush.*
Hand sanitizer creds !!
Please STOP using hand sanitizer over dirty hands. Soap and water. One sleeve of soap and a small amount of water. Then when dry the sanitzer as a barrier.
Antonia Baker Dr. Browners is a soap. Im confused...
Shonryu .Sorry wasnt directed at you. So many people dont use any soap on the trail and just hand sanitize over dirt.
That is basically a vape bottle
Just need some floss
i actually circumsize myself every time i go ultra light camping to save about 4 grams
I do t know where someone could buy them but the tooth brushes they give you in jail would be good.
It would also double as a Shank in case a bear decides to pay a visit in the middle of the night.

very professional answer to an obvious rant 👌🏼
I skip your videos because I hate loosing 42 seconds of my life watching your intro every time.
