16:19 I want to bring up a misconception. Yes, the brown stripe DOES represent the queer POC that are even more marginalized in society and even within the community, and absolutely deserves to be there. HOWEVER the black stripe does not stand for "black queers". It means "Victory over AIDS" and builds on the rainbow flag with a black stripe at the bottom. It shows we make progress on the backs of those we've lost to one of the most devastating things to the queer community.
I love how the author of lord of the rings’s way of saying that those 2 characters aren’t gay is because he had no idea what a gay person was until 19 years old 💀
No one ever told me 100 was their biggest number????? Is this yet another common lie told to children that I am somehow just now hearing about? The one that really blew my mind is it is apparently a thing that a lot of kids believe that cats are girls and dogs are boys rather than these animals being totally different species. And like, how can kids even think that? Have they never met a cat or a dog? Have they never watched a cartoon?
Thank you once again Andromeda for doing this. I know that queer compilations may not seem like much but... it really makes me feel seen. Makes me feel like there's people who understand me.
14:34 i always hear about people saying that transmascs have it easier than transfems but this is the first time i've actually seen it. considering the fact that im not transfem, never have been, and never will be, i can never understand how difficult it is to be transfem. but, as a transmasc, i know that being trans is hard in general. you shouldn't have to say oen thing is harder than the other. they're both difficult, everyone experiences it differently. for some transfems, they just grow out their hair and pass perfectly. some will never pass. some don't want to pass. same for transmascs; some of us cut our hair short and pass perfectly, some of us have never passed, and some also don't want to pass. we don't need to argue over who has it worse because not only does it make some people feel invalid for struggling when everyone's telling them that it's so much easier to be them, but it's also just not true. everybody is different with their experiences and trans journey, and that doesn't get respected enough.
I agree. I also am not transfem and have no experience with it so I can't speak for how difficult it is, but being transmasc i know just being trans is hard. passing is harder or easier for different people regardless of if they're transmasc or transfem, and for people who want to pass having to constantly conform to society's gender expectations is the worst. and yes, there are parts of being transfem that are harder than being transmasc, but theres also some parts of being transmasc that are harder than being transfem, and saying that one is harder than the other doesn't accomplish anything and can make some people feel so much worse. instead of comparing one to the other we should be focusing on our own journeys and supporting each other, and we should be able to complain about parts of being trans without having to put down or be put down by others. every person goes through their own struggles and experiences, and its good to acknowledge and respect that that, and they should never be compared as easier or harder than others
Yeah, I'm transfem, I have a transmasc boyfriend, and despite being on hormones longer, having top surgery and even having a BEARD, he still gets misgendered considerably more often than me. Neither of us understand it honestly but it's something that affects him every day. For me, I wouldn't say I pass perfectly, but I get gendered correctly more often than not without using makeup or anything. Society is weird, and cisnormativity hurts all of us. I don't see a point in trying to analyze who has it harder
i cant wait to get top surgery and someone be like "are you a boy or a girl?" and i say "boy" and they say "you look like a girl" and i say "i get that a lot-" i have always loved confusing cis people even before i knew i was trans 🤣
What I find strange is that people (if they deserve such a title) justify their own bigotry, especially transphobia, by saying that queerness a new thing. Point 1: so the hell what? The Internet’s a new thing and you’re not saying that’s unnatural. Point 2: there have been trans rights groups since 1897. You can’t ignore something and then claim that it’s not real. It’s like a toddler thinking that covering their eyes makes them invisible.
you are absolutely right and make incredibly strong points that are correct, but always remember, those people are the ones that try to gate keep what being a person is, and through history, bogoted groups of people and oppressive groups of people have always used that as their defense and starting point; that the people they're attacking are not actually people. we shouldn't take a page out of their book and try to define what a person is, after all, this community is ambiguous by nature and we should always try to be kind to those who need it. and some of those who dont deserve it. or just ignore those dumb idiots when we can
Would be nice to tag the youtube channels of the creators whose content your using, since many of us are on youtube too. Might have to move your merch link down though
Okay so im a trans male, i use he/it/fae pronouns. I wanna be a mother, but not in the feminine way in the way a ghost cares for the lost dead children in a forest or how cult leaders call their followers their children and I dont know if this is a weird hot take
@@CorvineCadaver Well I don't think a parent should act like a cult leader to their child, because I don't think cults are good for children (or anyone else for that matter), and that it inherently creates a hierachy between the parent and the child, and I'm against it because I'm childist, it's the equivalent of being a feminist but for children/fighting for children rights.
14:38 always remember that all of this being true does not mean people can be mean to trans masc people. it does not look like thats what this video was promoting, but remember to listen, be nice, and to suport everyone, even when they are angry and loud because we've all been a bit angry and loud now and then. love your community and others and love yourself
