Still love the look of the ATS-V with carbon. Perfect color also.

So, I can tell you why they went with the Twin Turbo V6 in the ATSV vs the V8. Cadillac V Series team has a philosophy that if it doesn’t help the performance then it doesn’t belong in the car. Remember V series are designed for the track…thus all their performance decisions are based on that idea. They fit a V8 in it while in development and tested it on the track. Due to the weight of the engine it made the front end heavier thus pushed more, didn’t rotate as well, and was actually a performance detractor vs the V6. The TTV6 made the power, was lighter, allowed the performance that the V series team was going for. One thing to note…the 2016 ATSV exhaust was a lot quieter even in Sport or Track mode than the 2018 or later. The 2018, like I used to have, was the tear they upgraded the exhaust to make it sound better. My friends and I have compared our rides…and I validated with Cadillac that was the case. I agree with your assessment of the interiors too. The 2018 CUE system worked better than older versions but the interior was just not awesome…it was good. The Camaro interior was much better designed and just looked better for sure.

You're obviously very well prepared for "trans eventualities", but your total dismissal of the A8 (8L90) is way too severe IMO. Yes, GM screwed up big time here, no question about it, however, the new 2019 fluid you have and an unharmed torque converter should last for a long time (that's what I have as well), and a tune wakes this transmission up extremely well.
The only remaining "issue" is the slow paddle response, and I think it's a design limitation. Is the A10 (10L90) better? Of course, it shifts faster and has a useful extra gear between 4th and 5th after all, but the difference is not "night and day" as most people claim.

I'm glad you mentioned your C8 corvette and that is why I clicked on this video! I have an 2014 ATS 2.5 and I am building a 1976 C3 corvette with a 454 big block and a tremor TKO 500. Good to know that an LS1 will fit into my ATS if I ever wanted to do that swap.

I would love to see an ls1 or lt1 ats swap

@@ThatShortGuy91 I have a 2015 ATS 2.5 and I also plan on doing a swap. Not sure if I want that extra weight with the V8 but the sound and straight line power would be amazing. A company named Weapon X did a V8 swap. They have a video on the dyno.

The caddy just looks soooo much sexier, never have been a fan of the Camaro and I hate the color red. But I’d take that Ats v all day!! I do really like the wine color interior of some of the ats’s though. My ats is not a v and it’s a metallic black tri coat with jet black interior. Just bought it, picking it up on Jan 7th when I can make the trip to SD from SE MN.

While you did a great overview of both cars, I wish you'd elaborate on which one is easier to live with on a day to day basis. It seems like the ATS-V coupe's interior ergonomics is what the Camaro team should've gone with aside from Cue. Maybe they wouldve sold more

They actually did put a v8 in the Ats-v but it was kicking the cts-v Ass well you can't have the big brother losing to the lil brother and spend 20 thousand more on it i understand why because economically speaking to the consumer it would not make sense to spend 90 000 on a cts v and get a ats-v and out perform the cts v and save 20 thousand in the process. I have one with the recaro seats love them

Do you feel the rear seat usability is the same between the two? Is one slightly more kid friendly?

I couldn’t disagree with you more about the SS looking less professional. It’s badass and looks amazing. That Cadillac looks like a wannabe Camaro

If your a8 experiences the shudder than one proper flush should take care of it. And you shouldn't have to change out the fluid every 15 to 20 k .
