- If ever a two-minute video clip could sum up an entire decade, this must be it. The 80s in a nutshell, right before your very eyes and ears. Here, the Pink Windmill kids cover Funkytown, originally by Lipps Inc., in this episode from 1988. The location is of course the American Adventure Theme Park in Ilkeston, which has long closed down. Did you ever go? I did.
(Please remember that this is an off-air VHS recording, so don't go expecting 1080p HD quality. I'm fairly certain that this video isn't commercially available, and I've uploaded it for its historic interest only. Just for fun, I'm going to pin this comment. I'm not saying I agree or disagree, but I _will_ say that the gangs after the Catrina years are unfairly dismissed, and they definitely had excellent singers and dancers, too. (And Abbie wins either way!)

Thanks for the pin :) and no, not high, I was just really tired when I wrote this and worded it poorly. I didn't mean for it to sound like the 1984 gang was bad or that I didn't like them, I meant that I like the 1987-89 groups more than the 1984 group, and do think they beat out the 84 group (though I can see the other side), and didn't like to see them getting bashed in the other comments

Catrina stopped being a regular in 1984 and her last appearance on the show came in 1986. This is from 1988.

This is there best dances they ever did. All the flips and wheels are impressive. So is their syncretisation, they mustve trained so long to get ready before filming for this.

Knew it had to be the American Adventure. That was a great place, back in the day. One of the best log flumes in the country. And also home to the Young Krypton assault course. Not sure what's happening now with the old site, I know it was a wasteland for quite a few years since the park vacated. There was talk of housing and some fancy offices, don't know if any of that has emerged yet.
I remember seeing the Young Krypton assault course from afar when I went there - obviously it was closed to the public, but I can't tell you how desperately I wanted a go on it! I'd have probably died if I had been allowed to try it out, but, you know...
Saw it, myself, when I went there. I was very excited to see it, no one else seemed bothered. Had it been the proper Krypton Factor assault course, I'd have taken whatever penalty came my way for legging it over there and having a go at it. Just a go on the aerial slide would have done it, for me.
