This news about Uni discontinuing the majority of the DX colors is soooo sad to me. The DX has become my favorite gel pens. I'll particularly miss emerald and lavender black. I will probably need to pick up a couple duplicates before december.
Japan discontinued the lavender black quite a few years ago, so if you are still getting them it is from another market. That country might still be making them -- I'm only speaking for the Japanese market - sorry for any confustion!
If anything I wish they would have expanded the 0.5 colors. I would have loved to have the bordeaux black, beige, and lavender black in the 0.5 size because I love how smooth that tip size is
For awhile the US had released a thicker tipped bordeaux black. I don't think they do it anymore, though. And the lavender black has been discontinued from the Japanese market for quite awhile. Whatever country is manufacturing your current pens might still be doing it - I'm only speaking for the original DX from the Japanese line-up that we import from Japan, I'm sorry if I caused any confusion.
Khaki and emerald are my favorites along with bordeaux black... I've been waiting for years to see them in Uni Style Fit lineup too... not happening... sad
I am some what happy that the Style Fit is keeping some of the colors but does anyone else find that the Style Fit is much less smooth than the DX itself?
I have some 0.38 style fit, and it isn't as smooth as 0.28 Signo.
The barrel and tip are not as 'solid' and firm as the DX. I think it's mostly due to the skinnier refill tube.
This is disappointing. Of all the discontinued colors, I'm most disappointed about the Green Black. It really is very pretty and underrated.
Khaki and Golden Yellow being discontinued. These were so great to draw with. Oh man. Maybe you can do a video of other pens that can fill in for those leaving the lineup?

The Uniball Signo DX was my gateway drug to Japanese stationery; it's so sad to hear that they're discontinuing most of the colors. Almost every single Signo DX I own is one of the colors they're axing. I loved the combination of the colors (with so many hues to choose from), the fine tip size, and the smooth, vivid ink. Recently, I have been using the Uniball One limited edition colors the most, since they're so unique and fun, but I far prefer the Signo DX colors to the Uniball One standard colors. The ink seems smoother, more uniform, and crisper/more vivid, somehow. At least the pens I have now will last me years and years - long enough for Uniball to come out with a whole new line all over again!
The DX was my gateway also! I’ve been using the Bordeaux black since 1999 and I’m so glad it is still going to be around - for now, at least!
@@TokyoPenShop Yeah! It's definitely my favorite color of the DX line, and it's such a unique shade - I've never found a dupe for it.
I'll be sorry to lose the khaki, prussian blue, the two grays, and the three purples. 😕
This is so sad to me :( I was stocked up because I was super paranoid about this happening b/c of the Uniball One but the Signo Line has it all: smooth, vibrant, tons of colors, uni-super ink and now they're eliminating a huge selling point of all the colors. I'm happy they are keeping around the trademark "uni super ink" and the super smooth signo Ink because I do NOT like the Uniball One but this is very disappointing.
I'm especially disappointed about Green Black that is such a rare and underrated color :(
Are there any updates on this discontinuation? I noticed that colors are disappearing from online retailers but I also notice that there seems to be a large number of at least some of the old colors still available? Is this just a coincidence or has anything changed. I have to say that they are discontinuing some amazing colors. The DX is my all time favorite pen and I was just devastated to see all these colors get taken away. Not to mention shocked because I always thought there was high satisfaction with the DX I don't know who was really asking for the Uniball One to replace it
You can stay up to date with their most current discontinuation decisions by viewing MPUNI's online catalog - make sure you're looking at the correct tip size, since colors vary by size. I won’t lie, I’ve never been a fan of the DX. I don’t know, maybe I tried a couple bad ones, but the .38 always felt scratchy to me and I’ve never liked the way it feels in my hand. However, I’m nothing if not a sucker for colored ink so I’m still over here considering “stocking up” on some of the unique colors like beige and khaki!!!

That was discontinued in the Japanese market a long time ago. It may still be available in other countries, I’m not sure. It was in the RT line-up originally, too.
If you like it, try Diamine Bilberry ink. That's the closest one to lavender black.
