- The moratorium on evictions is set to expire at the end of the month, though the incoming Biden administration wants to extend it. In Los Angeles County, the sheriff’s department is still carrying out pre-coronavirus eviction cases ordered by a judge. NBC’s Jacob Soboroff went along to get a glimpse of what could be coming.

Jacob Soboroff Rides Along With Officers Carrying Out Evictions | TODAY
Can't feel bad for the Chipotle guy. Dude just straight up quit his job and decided to refuse to leave until the cops came to evict him. There are people out there working their tail ends off to see another month in a crumby apartment and you just didn't want to work.
it would have been better if he decided he didnt want to live any more and leave a better world behidn by taking these pigs out, who are a human cancer and parasite.
It could’ve been a bad working environment. You/we don’t know the reason he was compelled or chose to quit.
People like the Chipotle kid is frustrating because he chose to quit his job and never got another one and that’s why he didn’t have money and basically said he was just waiting until they forced him out. THAT situation has nothing to do with COVID and the real victims who have lost their jobs and everything else, including their loved ones.
Imo, he probably quit because he made more from the payouts than working. He probably thought more money was on the way and it never came. Probably move back with mom and get a job...at Chipotle.
He is the other type of tenant everyone tells about thst is gaming the system. It didn't work for him though
tbh... .the chipotle money wasnt going to save him. I make $100k right now in Orange County working 2 jobs and 60-68 hours a week. My landlord just sent me notice that my rent for a 1br is going up to $1850 and it will include no utilities at all. Im considering living out of my car as well. Im not even joking.
@@Ek0 $1,850 x 12 months = $22200 a year. Where does the rest of your $77,800 go?
@@kyleklmondwa9042 do you not understand what taxes are?…
He quit the job, why feel sorry for him?
Exactly. I’m kinda annoyed that they even included him in this video since his story had nothing to do with the pandemic.
I couldn't believe what he said. I thought he must've been fired, or laid off, nope! He brought this on himself, then blames others.
@@AshFarlow hey, that's the way liberals think!
It's everybody's fault but their own!
@@phineasparaquad2727 exactly
@@phineasparaquad2727 Liberals are CANCER and now they proved they can just rig entire elections so you can't even vote them OUT anymore. It's all downhill with these bloodsucking criminals running the show.
Ultimately you either pay rent or eventually you’ll be evicted. Mortgages didn’t get put on pause nor did property taxes.
If you know you can’t pay it’d be better to leave before it gets to this point, because now you’ll have a harder time finding housing.
yes millions of mortgages got put on pause. Not sure who is telling you they didn't and if any bank tells you they refuse to do that then get an attorney asap. Quite a lot of people who were evicted were employed & never stopped paying, this was not all about renters, it goes deeper much than that.
@@Anglynn74 you are beyond incorrect
@@JK-es7iz I know way too much on this topic. you're barking up the wrong tree if you want to debate this issue with me. I was very much correct, have a good one.
Don't quit your job grow a SET.
Covid was a special event created by the banks to temporarily bankrupt the entire country so the banks could re-claim houses to endlessly re-sell
50 million Americans Owe at up to $8,000 This is bout to happen by the 100 of 1,000s
They'll never pay it. All the little landlords will be foreclosed and then Trump Properties inc will step in and buy up all the housing.
Mission accomplished.
@@c.rutherford That would be your duly elected democrats and newsom with the good hair. They sure had a quick congressional hearing and was able to come up with 86 million to house illegals in hotels(but what about your homeless and the most vulnerable Americans.)
Squatters? They should not get eviction notice.
They should be arrested.
This is more serious than speeding on street, which cops chase all the time
Believe it or not, squatters have more rights than the owners. That’s a shame.
I don't understand why they sit and wait for the police to come there ... They need to look for another place and leave, because there will be no choice ..
But they have no money? How look for new place when you havent been paying the rent.
@@PHYRBRND hotels, or a shelter, but you shouldn’t stay at a property you know you can’t pay for.
It’s so much better to leave before the eviction process because if you wait, then you’ll have a harder time finding a place willing to rent to you.
@@PHYRBRND Go back to work, save your money, and then move.
because they can't find anything else, this country had an affordable housing crisis before the pandemic. I had an eviction filed on me, I however was not a renter but had to wait until the end because I could not find an apt, wound up homeless in hotels for 3 months. There were serious problems with housing before covid, and there still are.
@@zyralove4540 they still have a harder time finding a place even if they aren't physically evicted. these companies, these LLCs, that are working for landlords look at court records, they are looking at the FILINGS not the actual executed evictions. They are holding FILINGS against prospective tenants, if someone had an eviction filed against them, even if not executed, it lowers their points, they go by points, that's how ridiculous it's become out there.
Once again the STUPID moratorium. Property owners must get financial help. Must.
Yes, you are right but the plan is for the banks to take the property back and sell them within the banking industry or to investors that will buy properties in large volumes. This is such a ponzi scheme 😭
I work in the nursing homes and it’s short staff with many openings. The problem is folks just don’t want to work those kinds of job.
They're not appreciated. They're passing trillions of dollars in stimulus, yet Americans benefit the least from it but are going to be the ones to have to pay it back.
Not for a wage that doesn’t pay a living wage
Tuff Tuff Tuff times!!! Brace yourself ....save your money!!! Live extremely frugal!!! And cut back on extras!!! And stay away from anyone leaning on you for helping!!!!
Kicking the can down the road doesnt fix the problem. It just makes the ditch deeper. And peoples ability to pay actually reduces over time, not the opposite.
Cloward-Piven strategy. This is all planned. A two-tier society is what the criminal empire wants.
I'm so bless to have a landlord that is working with me🙏 I have been sick 3 times since COVID started 🤧🤕🤒my owner waiting 4 months for me to get back on track with my payment's and for that I'm truly grateful 🙏💛 That could of been me and my kids.....
Your owner? you’re a slave?
It's survival of the fittest. Your government won't help you. Everyone needs to fend for themselves!
Oooorrr we can organize to attack the corrupt
@@PHYRBRND exactly, who’s down?
Easier for ppl to do that weren't screwed over in accumulating generational wealth
You can not live in a house that is not yours for free. That is illegal, like it or not. Free ride is over.
Shut down their business, don't allow them to work, then send the cops out to evict them. Good strategy to create more homeless people.
Well the business owners should've paid their rent or left on their own.
They should have had at least 10 months of rent saved up with the amount of unemployment being given out. Could have gotten a temporary job as well. Dont act like nobody is hiring.
The law did not allow landlords to shut down their businesses They were told to continue providing shelter to those who couldn't or wouldn't pay. Ever think of that? Businesses cut off their losses by shutting down but landlords were forced by the government to continue to bleed.
When you realize everyone else has some plants or cut flowers in the background of their "work from home broadcasts", so you go cut some olive branches off the tree directly outside the window where you're going to shoot 😅
Might be a reflection in the glass.
💯
Guy at 2:34. Well I quit my job. Now I don't have a job. And no money. Ya real smart.
Some of those corporate landlords are nasty money hungry pigs! Should be in jail!
So what happens to these people when they turn to social services for survival? People are beyond the breaking point. I foresee more violence and theft. What does our government expect people to do?
Tenants should pay their own rent. That's what government should expect people to do.
@@marietta1335And if they can’t? How many does your home or local shelter house?
Where's the war on homelessness? Because in this video the people that built homeless are because of self destructive behaviors like addiction. Meth and Herion addiction are major problems in LA. County however in California addicts aren't in jail because of state law.
They can come up with 86 million to house illegals in hotels. In these trillions passed they've programs to assist, but they make you jump through hoops and it seems they try and discourage people.
The Eviction Moratorium is still in effect so why are they being evicted right now?
Because of a loophole in eviction prosess
They're not. This is just more media fodder backing the ongoing property consolidation
Lease might be up
Pre covid evictions. They didn't pay their rent before covid started so the moratorium doesn't apply to them
tenant holding over cases are a loophole
Most of these people spent their government money on stuff instead to paying rent. Get them out. No fair to the people who own the property.
I'm on disability ..I pay my rent.. old on foot, in the desert mile away from store.. virus has not changed my life except food prices going up.. I live poor.. I don't live beyond my money.. I pay bills Frist.. our US is fat on overspending.. and Karma is at the door.. sometimes in a eviction.. Selfish self-indulged.. has brought us all hear.. we all lose owners and non rent paying people...
"I'm on disability ..I pay my rent.."...You mean the people that actually CONTRIBUTE to society for a living pay your rent.
Awful
In today’s paper here in Fort Lauderdale there are 31,000 job openings , just here in Broward County. There is no reason not to be working
Florida bottom feeders need to just dive into the ocean and keep bottom feeding and take Trump and desantis with them and yea with trumps eviction moratorium what do you expect
The problem is way bigger like property values inflated with rent and morgage inflated and property tax increase and it's people making lots of money off it all
Here in San Antonio, TX same thing, help wanted signs everywhere.
Lots people don’t want to work and if they got benefits less I see young people asking for money when they could work I saw one girl in her 20s since before covid
While unfortunate these landlords/banks have bills to pay too. They were good enough to rent you a home or fulfill your dream of home ownership. If you can't afford to pay you cannot expect someone else to carry you, Move out. Family, friends, short term solutions. Most have not paid in months and have had plenty of time to figure things out. I couldn't pay for my home after my Dad died, we bought it together. I made arrangements and moved out asap. Noone lives for free......Quit his job? Out!!
The bank is in control. They have no bills to pay. If you have a 30 yr loan just put the payments on the back end of the loan.
@@loswilson5331 with a comment like that I now understand why your classmates voted you "Most likely NOT to succeed!" 🤔
@@loswilson5331 Are you serious! People need to get up and get a job, or get a roommate or something but nobody else owes you anything.
Paycheck to paycheck?I think he means voucher to voucher,Section8,ebt,to voucher.
I love that guy's attitude
It really gets me when news reports say "without protection an unprecedented number of Angelinos are at risk of losing their home." But I want clarity, he means that that renters are at risk of losing their rental, not their home. The home belongs to the landlord. Without protection Landlords and Homeowners are at risk of losing their homes because of tenants taking advantage of the system. The Eviction being shown here is not a person "losing their home" but rather they are losing their "rental, that they are making a home of, for as long as they continue paying the rent." CLARITY BY THE MEDIA IS NEEDED HERE.
Unfortunately, media do not listen to landlords' explanation. Only tenants get their sympathy. Even parasite deadbeat tenants are shown to be "in danger of losing their homes." Pathetic.
Reporter boosting those tv ratings to keep his job a while longer before his hair falls out next year.
I'm a Veteran on disability don't drive always paid rent. Then blocked out of the tenant website to pay rent. In the V.A. HOSPITAL. "Lease violation" deal w PTSD. In the hospital.
Chipotle guy will regret this when he's older. He wanted to take advantage of the system and now he'll have this eviction on his record and will have a harder time finding a place to live, deservingly so.
ok
Even finding another job and it goes on your credit score
Have to remember, the owners of the property still have to make their payments.
What kind of crap reporting is this? Were you planning on asking the dude why he quit Chic Filet and never got another job?
What protection do they want? If you don't pay you don't stay.
Landlords are also suffering too. Eviction is necessary devil
Landlords get a job the same way you tell renters to do so.
Sounds like landlords should have an emergency fund
Or maybe get a job and stop leeching off the poor
Tenants should not be paying for your retirement diapers
@@aara-tg7kc maybe tenants should have an emergency fund? Not all landlords are multi millionaires some are just hard working people trying to get ahead. You sign the lease you agree to pay the landlord has a mortgage too.
@@aara-tg7kc so the tenant is living free off the landlord who is paying all the bills, and the landlord is a leech?
how does that add up
@@aara-tg7kc Managing my rental properties IS my job. I don't need sympathy or government help, but I do expect my renters to pay their rent. When they have financial problems, I try to help, but if there is no solution in sight then I expect them to move somewhere else.

What a sick country America is allowing armed police to evict tenants
I can’t pay my rent.
Why?
I quit my Job !
No Sympathy!
Free loaders
It’s not their homes 🏠,they just rent
Eff riding with the Sheriff. But they'll arrest you if you try to film them otherwise
It's like going to work and NOT getting paid. Same for landlords, they provide a service and in return expect rent. You provide a service of working and turn expect wages. Imagine if your job didn't have to pay you for working due to covid, you would quit or sue.
So sad
Did they really pull out their guns for that last eviction? 😂
definitely have to be careful, especially with squatters :P
Sad overall
One guy said he quit his job for no reason. Why was he even a part of this story if having concern about the expiration of the eviction moratorium was one of the reasons this aired? He killed any empathy right there.
I think that’s what they’re trying to do lol 😂
They need to show both sides so I’m glad they included it.
Could never be a COP and evict a disabled person.....
gods wrath to fullest and karma karma to these
You all better wake up and see the set up.
This is one part of a sheriff's job that's sucks.
We are in some bad times. Inflation and gas prices at an all time high and most jobs arnt paying enough to cover basic expenses. We are all sitting on a pack of dynamite that is ready to explode.
The best country in the world
IN LA THEY WERE TRYING TO EVICT FRATERNITIES BOTH MEN AND WOMEN AND THEY WERE TRYING TO EVICT DISABILITY PEOPLE WHO WENT TO FRAT PARTIES
Everyone got the stimulus checks should had payed something on your rent I don’t feel sorry for them at all.Landlords have bills to pay too.
It was hard with out covid 😪
Subsidize all the non payments, but need to let the holdover cases through!! Bad actors don't stop committing crimes, as a matter of fact, they commit more crimes taking advantage of times like this. Don't indulge scums!!!
You guys got to buy the body armor bundle
They don't act like this towards squatters
The last house I'm the video was squatters
The police did kick All the (non paying rent)squatters out, did you not watch the video.
Imagine this by the millions after moratorium is lifted. Is it even possible?
It should be possible. They bilked small landlords by the millions, so evictions should be by the millions, too.
A lot of the people being evicted use the excuse that they didn't have any money to pay the rent or even make a partial payment my question is where did all the stimulus money and all the extra unemployment money go what did they do with it
I always thought like Opie if the police throw u out of your apartment than they should have somewhere for you to go
They DO have somewhere for you to go...Your CAR...And you don't have to pay rent there either, just like you didn't pay rent in the house your were living in.
Just do what you can, it’s every person for themselves, all options are on the table
Why doesn't everyone else say tom himself got caught why why why
No one is going to a get ahead they gave some people more money but ther some that didn't get the raise I see the store are raising their price on everything
This is an easy fix. If a TENANT was effected by COVID can prove that they were the Government should issue HUD Rent vouchers. For those that were not effected they should be prosecuted to the extent of the law
And IF these blood-sucking landlord's didn't have 5 + different rental properties to their names people could actually afford their rent or to buy a decent priced house.
No
That's how people become homeless
The POLICE ARE SICK!!! HOW COULD YOU DO THIS????. MISSOURI!!
The honest person now criminal good job government. Ur lossing the ppl more ppl. With. Mind set u get money. Now ppl rise up
You're trying to get my house lost because my uncle cant have
Many people deserve to be evicted because they abused their landlords’ rights during the pandemic.
Jacob Soboroff wanted drama, violence, resistance and sympathy for those evicted - it didn't happen!
Literally everywhere is hiring. Get a job and pay your rent. It's really that simple. No one owes you anything.
Senseless good job America Congress
FoLLow these guys and u see them paying weekLy aT the moTeL. BuTT noThing4 LandLord.
Follow landlords getting free grant money too!
The Sheriff's are just enforcing the law. If you can't pay you gotta vacate simple as that.
welcome to the good old USA.
What I don’t understand is why these people don’t get a job where there are thousands of jobs available, and then they can pay the rent!
You can’t pay, then get out of the property!
En Belgique on n peut pas mètre dehors avant que l hiver se se termine
Marin county illegall evictions
You quit your job ? Wow! And your a victim Smfh 🤦🏾♂️
I have a deadbeat renter I'm trying to evict he lied to me daily and often I don't feel sorry for him at all...he did it to himself his screwed over his girlfriend she left and was the one paying and she left me her deadbeat boyfriend.
Of you quit your job. Thats your problem. You got fired and having a hard time getting another job then I can feel sorry. But of you quit, nah. Get out or pay up
For some reason this kind of stuff gets me off i just bought a 15 million dollar estate in Maui
Lot of people I know work through the pandemic and still never paid their rent.
The state was supposed to give them money to give a landlords for back pay I never seen nothing.
So many QUIT their jobs. Go get another!!
In stead of giving it to these Latino CRIMNAL people evicting DISABILITY people and taking over their house
They can’t afford to pay rent but they can afford all those pets?About the squatters, they should’ve been placed in jail. That is theft of property when you move in and use it as your own in my opinion.
Firing is also death! What we need now is to have a permanent COVID moratorium on firings, so that people who don't work or no longer want to work can still get the full paychecks they need #cancelrent #cancelwork
(sarcasm alert)
F’d UP MAN!
Go to. Reached people. Homes. Church etc
Get a job stop being a free loaders .
🙁🙁
There is no rent-free places. You have to work to pay rent nothing is free. You don't work that's fine but you don't pay rent you don't have nowhere to live. It's called responsibility.
Eviction is a tool for story writers to lead into another event. It doesn't work in real life. They would freeze to death in about 2 hours in winter. And where would they live if you tried this in reality?
May I suggest they live in your house for free?
Guy don't care
This why i was told never to sue the catholic church ever because they would try to make my uncle get are houses lost in a lawsuit over being different
This is what my mom does for you guys
your mom does stuff for me too
He quit a job?
His former workmates are laughing because he got fired.
This is crazy. They have to do better and help people.
