Someone might knock a few bucks off as time goes on, if not it's alright. I understand the gamble, doesn't stress me out. There's so much out there these days that I get ridiculously choosy on what I pay full price for.
I'm still waiting on this to go on sale. Maybe Labor Day sales coming up? The lack of "angry/yelling" head sculpt and they cheaped out on the ab crunch, also not painting the underarms yellow!😡
I feel like luke is a little under sized too. Hes suppose to be 6'6" and over 300 lbs. But here it looks like hes about the same size as captain America.
Fair critique and nice fixes. I wish the Hasbro ML team would be more transparent when fans are so let down and perplexed like this. "We're listening and will try to do better" has negative impact on customer trust and just gives critics/haters infinite room to speculate. A little accountability for mistakes/tough decisions would go a long way for the health of ML community.
I color matched his yellow shirt with a T-shirt I bought at Michael's. Cut some fabric out of it, with a small hole for the arm joint to plug in. Popped the arms out. Put in the fabric. Put arms back. He's good for me now.
Great work Wade! Most definitely kicked this figure up a notch. Gonna do this with figure as well cant do the painting tho so I guess I'm gonna have to just live with it 😅
Despite it's flaws that he has, I still think Luke Cage aka Power Man looks badass and all he needs is a more new updated classic Iron Fist to go with...Great review.
I like the way the figure looks, nailed down that classic vibe here. It's those little things that keep it from being an absolute must have. BTW nice modification, makes the figure a whole lot better.
Awesome review and mod Wade. I am still picking this figure up. The mod will definitely help. I can't wait to see if you pick up the X-Men 97 Wolverine. It would be interesting to see what you think of the figure.
These should NOT have been issues out of the box. Almost a 1 step forward 10 steps backward scenario. However, thanks to your vid I was motivated to make these mods that more or less salvaged this figure for me, so a BIG THANK YOU, sir. I also dremeled the ToyBiz head sculpt as an alternative head that works rather well. This also allowed me to both retire and pay homage to the TB figure that held a spot on the shelf for so long.
If I may, I'd suggest you get a before /after pic or footage with a divided screen to show how your modification improved the articulation in future cases. (I saw it on the live with Shartimus It's not for me, but for others) Just an idea! It was cool how you showed the skin showing from the close up close to the end. I'm glad you took the time to record the before/after and get the review out, it was a great one!
I feel like they really need someone checking their work, all figure’s should come with extra hands grabbing punching, Slapping open hands, heads neutral, screaming and angry as well as power effects start concentrating on Quality over Quantity
Late to this party but i definitely dug this. I like how you pointed out the flaws without being overly pessimistic, and the final result definitely shows improvement. If I had a little more (read: any) customizing experience, I'd probably follow along. Maybe in the future haha.
That shirt modification was just so damn infuriating; Hasbro could have avoided that entirely with a proper shirt or even a 2 piece chest Would love to see your take on the new Xmen 97 figures
I can live with the limited waist articulation and lack of boot swivels, but I’m going to have to follow your lead on painting around the arm sockets. I’m getting really tired of classic versions of characters getting the short end of the stick when it comes to the budget and all around effort. Did Hasbro hire McFarlane as a consultant?
Actually McFarlane classic figures have gotten alot better..... Riddler, Blue Beatle, Black Lighting, etc have all been good releases.....even articulate better than this figure
Thanks for showing how to save Luke Cage, as I wanted one in my collection. At least now, I know it's salvageable. I bet the boots have a square peg instead of a round one, so it may be able to be fixed as well.
Nice fixes! I used Apoxie Sculpt with added yellow acrylic paint to fill in and it worked pretty well. Wound up using the old ToyBiz head for the angry look and it wasn't tooo small. And then a minimal blue wash over the pants, to save this wreck of a man.
Can you tell me how you modded the ball joint, did you have to crack open the torso? No other way since it’s not a pull and pop. Also the shirt gets in the way. Great review
I hear you and appreciate the honesty. And like you said he looks just fine and to be perfectly frank, he's gonna be cracking his knuckles in a more or less standard stance in my display so... I'm not all that bothered. I have a question for you though. I was thinking about everything pretty much every reviewer has said about this figure and, well, personally I love by Wonder Man figure from the Puff Adder wave... why do you think people didn't make as much of a ruckus about Wonder Man as they've done about Cage? Looking at my Wondy, he has the same issues. He does have an ab crunch hidden in there but the jacket completely nullifies it and since he has no ball joint at the waist like Luke, he has I think even less articulation than in that regard. You can also see Wonder Man's blue sweater under his arms because his jacket also has that same gap as Luke's shirt... So why do you think people are more bothered by Luke than by Wonder Man? I seem to remember Wondy getting good reviews even despite those failings. Anyway, if I can, I'll wait for the Amazon discount lol, hope you're well bro!
I think a lot of it has to do with the just being frustrated at this point. I think that’s why people were more mad about Luke. Actually, when Wonder Man started to hit I was complaining quite a bit on my live streams. I got that figure and ended up modifying it too. The arm holes are not nearly as bad on Simon btw and the design of the jacket covers most of the blue. On Luke there is almost 1/4 of skin showing under the arm. That’s crazy haha
Good job. I have pushing for a powerman figure for forever. then that armpit gap pissed me off also. who ever was in charge of that qc issue should have been fired.almost $30 for a big gaps under his arms.
This is a awesome figure for a Luke cage fan I'm a 80s baby so i grow up with power man aka Luke Cage comic's and this was his authentic look from his 70s 80s era you really can't mess it up lol the only thing they should have done was give the figure a second head sculpt with a angry kickass look and possibly a steel bar... he didn't use guns so accessories are limited if they did that the figure in my opinion would be perfect
No boot swivel!? Thats the most ridiculous flaw out of them all! Totally unacceptable at this stage in the game (unfortunately, much like their old-reuse body mold problem)
the gap in the shoulders is absolutely insane. I'm sure there's a why, they can't have dropped the ball this much How do you feel about the yellow though? I don't have him in hand but in pictures he looks a tad too bright for my liking
From what I can tell, it's too bright and just right. What I mean is that the yellow itself seems right, but without the comic shading to mellow it out, it looks overly bright.
Hasbro really dropped the ball on this one. You did great with those minor adjustments and I believe I'll be doing the same as well. And as usual man, you're the best in the game when it comes to posing. 👍🏼👍🏼
Im increasingly convinced Hasbro doesnt know how to make action figures or is prevented from doing so. I look at all their competitors and I think all theyve got is production scale and licenses.
Some people point to budgeting, but that doesn't account for most of the flaws tbh. Like when the figure is all or mostly new parts yet those new molds have issues that they allready fixed previously. A bunch of new figures now seem to come with basically no movement in the torso which is a hard no for me buying it.
Yeah. Budgeting doesn't make sense on new sculpting and molding making costs. Unless the argument is they can't afford to hire people that know what they're doing. Jada toys SF has so much better range in all joints, and with this mod, it would actually cost less in materials. It's honestly kinda baffling.
even with all the improvements, that bored headsculpt still kills the figure for me. I’ve also been waiting for a good classic Luke Cage & I guess I’m still waiting.
Hasbro production team: $0.01 every 1000 figures to paint under Luke's arms, add a crunch and boot swivel... Hasbro: nah, let's save it for mcu figures instead, that'll sell out %1000!
What do people hate about pizza Spidey buck? There aren't any other slim bucks with that much articulation that I've seen yet. I have the newer spideys too, I like em, but pizza still is the one for the slim less bulky look until they come up with a new Mcfarlane art style buck.
I said this before… but i think the factory got the Blade Jacket and Luke Cage Shirt mixed up… blade jacket hole are too small and they stop his arms from going down… plus he have a black vest and black jacket so his holes could had been bigger… and Luke should had been smaller.
Hasbro fucking up a Luke Cage figure?? Noooo, it's not like they've ever done him dirty before or anything. Your mods definitely improve him buuut still a miss with no angry head. When will they ever get this character right in figure form?
I agree about the shoulders and chest colour poking through. I never understood boot cut tbh. Never use it. It's an unnatural movement for me. But know others like it. For me, I really liked the Paul Harding head sculpt he shared, but for whatever reason, wasn't picked by the ML team. It looked immense. 😢
He should have had a diaphragm joint. That would have remedied that issue easily. Also, the cut around his arms on his shirt should have been tight to the arms. No need for that huge cap. Who ever engineered this figure must have been on magic mushrooms.
I dont think hasbro is gonna keep making luke cage figures because he is not really a character that sells, for example in México this figure is destined to be a peg warmer, no one cares about him compared to more important characters. 🤔

Am I the only one who sees no problem with a lack of shin swivel? People don’t swivel at the shin. You really only need it for slightly more steady feet placement, but even then that can be accomplished by functional thigh swivels and feet pivots.
The slightly more stable stance has been more than slightly at my experience, but sometimes having a boot swivel is handy for posing itself, like having the knee pointed at the side but wanting the foot to be pointed towards or more strange poses, plus the useable parts for more characters
He should have been bigger his arm should have been a little bigger and he should have had the strings on his shirt.. Luke should be the same size as Hercules... I no he's not as strong but he is about the same size

You did a damn good job in modding Luke...can't believe hasbro let this thing pass.
Thanks dude! Yeah man! This should have been a banger
You shouldn't have to fix a brand new toy. Hasbro needs to do better. Insane.
Yeah well this is one of few, mcfarlane ones are worese needs fixing all the time
As soon as I saw this figure, I knew I was waiting for this to go on sale. As much as I like Luke Cage, I wasn't paying full price.
I hope that works out for you and everyone else waiting to get this figure. No one should pay full price but I was weak.
Clearance where? It's not sold in retail so that hasbro don't get clearanced out like it always does at Target. That's why they did online exclusive.
Someone might knock a few bucks off as time goes on, if not it's alright. I understand the gamble, doesn't stress me out. There's so much out there these days that I get ridiculously choosy on what I pay full price for.
@@suhtangwong Amazon does clearance, too.

😮💨He's not big enough...😒
Actually he’s supposed to be 6’8”
The jacket with that holes, the unmatch skin tones, and the lack of articulation was a red flag for full price, and wait for Ollies sign.

Its crazy man. I feel like more and more you have to go in and mod or repaint figures nowadays 😭
Which I don't mind. I do that to all my figs.
Man that headpiece sucks too, its crooked and needed bright silver paint
Great work Wade! Most definitely kicked this figure up a notch. Gonna do this with figure as well cant do the painting tho so I guess I'm gonna have to just live with it 😅
Despite it's flaws that he has, I still think Luke Cage aka Power Man looks badass and all he needs is a more new updated classic Iron Fist to go with...Great review.
With the current marvel Legends price point, we shouldn't be making any modifications at all. Great mods!
Amen! Hasbro is the manufacturer, we're the consumers. We shouldn't have to be fixing their mistakes. And they make a lot of them!
Since butterfly joints are an additional piece, yellow butterflies would've made the most sense under there, and avoided extra paint
I like the way the figure looks, nailed down that classic vibe here. It's those little things that keep it from being an absolute must have. BTW nice modification, makes the figure a whole lot better.
Some complain about what others aren't doing, some do it themselves. Nice work

I'm using the Amazing Fantasy Spiderman for a custom Karnak. Legends has done the Inhumans injustice with the 3 figures they have done.....
Coming to your local Ollies 2024
Where can I find pics or a video of the roadblock torso swap?
Same!!

Damn those boots 🥾 r bright ol Luke doesn’t like to get dirty anymore 😳😢
I hope Hasbro does a deluxe classic Iron Fist with a ton of hands and effects. They can even squeeze in an angry Power man head.
Damn that thumbnail is ⚰️⚰️⚰️
10:02 maybe Hasbro was thinking on the reuse of this torso and that’s why they didn’t have that hole in the front
14:53 id would’ve been cool to see if the Toy Biz head worked on the legends one
Great job with the mods homeboy!
Nightmare on Elm Street and it looks like you playing Freddy the way you got that figure all chopped up.
Great video and modifications to the figure.
Thanks!
Ill wait for sales or ollies since ive been lately racking up marvel legends and classifieds there lately
Hey I was curious if you could point me in the direction of that torso swap you mentioned for him? Im interested in seeing it

the gap in the shoulders is absolutely insane. I'm sure there's a why, they can't have dropped the ball this much

You could cut a couple of pieces of yellow cloth that cover the holes use a hole punch to make holes for the peg then reattach the shirt.
I’m so, so disappointed with this figure. I was waiting so long for it’s release. I will stick with my Toy Biz version.
Really disappointing
What’s up with his crooked tiara!? Damn Hasbro fucked up!
Love your honesty, The mod is a nice solution too.
Hasbro really dropped the ball on this one. You did great with those minor adjustments and I believe I'll be doing the same as well. And as usual man, you're the best in the game when it comes to posing. 👍🏼👍🏼

That Karnak rant made me laugh out loud 😂But I agree 💯percent
Another head scratcher for sure, thanks for the mod video tho, love me a good mod
The head and fists look too small in comparison to the feet.
Good video and your mods definitely improved it.
? How would you fix the boot Swivel
can anyone say who's done the roadblock mod? I'm interested in seeing how it looks
They could've given this luke cage figure an abs crunch or a diaframe joint hell why not two swappable heads an angry one and a smirking one
They COULD HAVE but they didn’t even need too, they just needed to THIS correctly.
@@UnparalleledUniverse True
I can’t find any mods using Roadblock
Mandatory comment: This was a very sad review because everything hasbro has at its disposal. This figure should have been way better.

I thought hasbro was going to use tombstone upper torso great review
Thanks for the great review and showing flaws of the figure.
The under arm skin is ridiculous 😂 how is a "Shirt" has hole in it 😂😂😂
5:51 🤣🙌🏼
At this point Legends will only get my $$$ @ a discount!!
i sold that MF, very disappointed

Good job 😊
Easy mods like this makes me wonder why hasbro doesn't prioritize articulation
A very fair assessment
No reason it couldn't have had the ball wais AND a diaphragm crunch; just like the gi Joe and power rangers have crunch or dumbbell on top of a swivel
I love Luke Cage so I have no complains .
Keeping my toybiz as well as the new one .
Just happy to get him finally 💪🏼💫⭐️
I agree about the shoulders and chest colour poking through. I never understood boot cut tbh. Never use it. It's an unnatural movement for me. But know others like it. For me, I really liked the Paul Harding head sculpt he shared, but for whatever reason, wasn't picked by the ML team. It looked immense. 😢
I kinda modified my Luke cage if you wanna review it
He should have had a diaphragm joint. That would have remedied that issue easily. Also, the cut around his arms on his shirt should have been tight to the arms. No need for that huge cap. Who ever engineered this figure must have been on magic mushrooms.
The price still hasn't came down. Why is that?
I’m not sure but it will probably his clearance soon
The version by toy biz is still the greatest.
I dont think hasbro is gonna keep making luke cage figures because he is not really a character that sells, for example in México this figure is destined to be a peg warmer, no one cares about him compared to more important characters. 🤔
yeah he's great at waiting for the bus. I guess he really doesn't have any travel power so ....
sadly that face stays waiting for the bus, no personality at all.

Great job saving this annoying figure, Wade!
Nice sculpt - face and chest, but that underarm thing is very obvious - you did not even lift the arms yet at 2:00.
Extremely disappointing.
So it’s just some little knit pick things?
Luke Cage looks great, hopefully they’ll do a classic Iron Fist soon

Luke should be the same size as Hercules...
I no he's not as strong but he is about the same size
He's a black character that's not in any movies so thus the thrown together figure.
He did have 2 seasons of a show though. I think it’s because it’s a classic comic look. Hasbro seems to think people don’t care about the comic book characters
It’s not a bad figure. It’s just boring asf. The bland expression just ruins it. Barely any paint to bring out the sculpt work. He just looks awkward in dynamic poses because of that face. I like the general sculpt and I can look past the under arm issue, but there’s nothing about this figure that’s worth $25.
I think the blade was just as disappointing
Blade definitely sucks too
