I have fond memories of playing Smash 64 with my step dad, he always played as green kirby. He had no idea what he was doing, but he always insisted he was having fun and I'd make him play for so long to fill the void my oldsr siblings left when they moved out on their own. Green Kirby is my favourite Kirby.

i think in ultimate since dark meta knight is an alt costume for metaknight it's probably safe to say kirby's monochrome color is also a reference to mirror kirby
Shadow Kirby is black. It would've been nice if Kirby had a Shadow Kirby colour in SSB (especially the Triple Deluxe design), but unfortunately he does not. Kirby and King Dedede have monochrome colours to reference how their debut game, Kirby's Dream Land, was originally in greyscale due to the Game Boy's colour limitations. One for Meta Knight wouldn't make as much sense because he didn't debut on the system.

The story was likely confused with the artists for Kirby's Dream Land thought Kirby was white and not pink (Information is gotten from the Kirby Wiki)

I think you got the origin for green Kirby wrong. The original Super Smash Bros on the N64 while you can't normally switch Kirby to green if he's on the green team in team battle he will be green. That game came out before nightmare in Dreamland. In fact I even think melee might have come up before nightmare in Dreamland.

I always loved the green kirby alt, it's the one I use, but I forgot it came from Nightmare on Dreamland, my first ever kirby game that I played on a DS lite as a GBA cartridge.

Like every other color besides the yellow one, they all have darker feet of the same color of their body, so green body and dark green feet. Personally, the next smash game should change orange Kirby's shoe's yellow, to resemble Waddle Dee's, along with the fact its an appearance he can have in Kirby: Planet Robobot

It's a completely fanon idea. There is not one peice of evidence that suggests there is a kirby species. They are a lot of kirby character with the same face and body structure.
The orange color could also be a reference to Kirby Super Star, as if kirby has something in his mouth that can be copied, he will briefly flash orange.
