I have & have posted almost identical version on Zonophone, wonder if mine is a different take. Impressed by primitive but convincing sound effects, such as raising gangplank, approaching band & wind filling sails as ship departs. All in the cramped conditions of an acoustic studio. The flip of mine is 'Wreck Of A Troopship' again with great sound effects!
I also happen to own some of these "scenes from real life" records. Usually they're so obviously artificial that I wonder if they could deliver any feeling of really "being there", at least one century ago. Curious stuff, anyway.
Good point! I suppose the gramophone was such an extreme novelty that it didn't matter so much that these 'descriptive' records sound so unconvincing to us today. They sold in large numbers, anyway...
