”The alien instantly attacks, you have no choice but to defend yourself.”
Well I mean if I was injured in a cave on a foreign planet and saw a huge humanoid in metal plating running towards me with a motorized bat I’d try to defend myself, too.
I wouldn’t even pick up my gun I’d leg it or surrender if he was wearing a metal armor and carrying a bladed bat.
You know I never thought about it like that but that really is terrifying.

That what i like call, "AGES OF ACADEMY WASTED!"
We are the most advanced species on Earth and a stick can end us aswell
I mean we continue to kill each other with rocks. It's just now we refine them and turn them into bullets.
Reminds me of that scene where an alien talks about how it’s one of the most powerful creatures out there with advanced psychic abilities, only to get wasted by a shotgun or something.
You have no Choice but defense yourself

I love the Alien's in Fallout, I wish there was more lore about them and more ways to potentially encounter
Ikr? All we can do is hope they turn up soon in fallout 76
I know there was a dlc for FO3 with a whole quest about the aliens in Fallout
@@ianlucas4816 mother ship zeta my guy
Ian Lucas It didn't explain anything either. It established what we already know. Aliens abduct people and animals and perform experiments.

Oxhorn never changes.
The stongest defense is a quick and decisive offense
This game lacks aliens. Their aesthetic fits perfectly with the retro sci-fi setting and it makes sense that aliens would be here after a nuclear war. LOTS of nuclear materials to use for whatever purposes, not to mention alien archaeologists who want to uncover the history of this race that blew themselves up with nuclear war
Paladin Rense beautiful profile picture brother 14
In the mothership zeta dlc of fallout 3 its actually implied that the aliens were responsible for the great war and the bombs being dropped.
Well you do know that aliens can be thousands or millions of light years away. So for example if they were 5,000 light years away they would see the earth through a telescope of how the ears was 5,000 years ago. And wars never happened.

For those who are curious, I’m aware the alien was speaking in an alien language (Zetan) over the broadcast, but based on his tone of voice and what I might say in his situation, I have reconstructed what he might have been saying:

Cory Dorton I prefer them as a secret little mystery.
Mothership Zeta was a mistake imho
If you enjoyed Mothership Zeta (I did) then try "Mothership Zeta Crew" mod on the Nexus. Sadly it hasn't been finished but it was a nice extension to an interesting DLC.

The little green aliens that have been so famously portrayed in movies, games etc are called Zeta's because they apparently come from the star system called Zeta Reticuli... just so you know.:)
Great advice on the UFO though!:)))

But thought the Zetas were the grey aliens?
@@HighFalutinTootin they are. But idiots literally still called them little green men while calling them gray aliens in actual newspapers and stuff lol.
I really wish Bethesda would have made a dlc for that alien crash site like fallout 3
No! No Mothership Zeta part 2: Electric Boogaloo!
i just realized that the reason the spaceship crashed in fallout 4 is because we put mothership zeta in control of the lone wanderer at the end of fallout 3. I think that whoever controls that spaceship might be protecting earth with it!
yeah, if you have danse with you whilst it crashes he suggests checking it out, it would be cool if you could tell elder maxson and he sends you and a group of knights to check it out, by then you realise the other zetans picked up the distress signal and you have to fight them all off

I once had Piper with me when this event triggered and she had nothing to say about it the whole time. You'd think that if anyone would have something to say about aliens crash landing on our planet, it'd be Piper. Maybe if the alien was a synth?
Codsworth wants to help whoever it was, but Piper doesn't care. Frigging journos... Lol.

First time I got this event, I was working on my Sanctuary settlement. Really absorbed, when all of a sudden I hear that thing crashing through the atmosphere. Really took me by surprise, I though Sanctuary was under bombardment for a moment.
Evan Ulven my most noticeable encounter was when I help valentine get back to diamond city, specifically when he says "never thought I'd be happy to see something so ominous" and a flew straight overtop of us.
Evan Ulven That is literally what just happened to me and I had no idea what it was so I came here haha
I was so excited when I FINALLY got this random encounter. I had Deacon with me and thought he was just being a smartass when he was like, "What the hell is that?" Then I heard it and freaked out in happiness haha.
It really bugs me when people say that things like drivable vehicles or Aliens have no place in Fallout, Fallout is centered around the theme of 1950's Americana, it's centered around the pop-culture of that time, like a Mirelurk King being reminiscent of Creature of the Black Lagoon or the Robo-Brain is reminiscent of the robot from the Lost in Space, so there's no reason why the Zetans can't fit in.
PurpleStorm8 well to be fair the brotherhood is able to use vertiberds and airships so I guess they seem to be the only faction that is interested in making vehicles or at the very least maintaining them. Personally though I don’t see much use for the brotherhood to use ground vehicle much since they usually rely on their airship as a home base and vertiberds to get them places. Then again it has been roughly 210 years and most people now won’t know how to drive a vehicle and whilst they could probably learn they probably could never find one that works or parts to make one work.
I'd like to have seen more Zetan material in Fallout 4.
Its a thing called mods but for bethesda to make make quests with zetans will most likely be Dlc

samuel sansregret Thank you.
The real question is why do we keep finding these crashed spaceships throughout the fallout games? Are there other aliens shooting them down? Or for all their advanced technology, are they just bad at keeping things in good repair?
Could just be because when entering the athmosohere, it damages the ship
samuel sansregret If that's the case, then why even try to enter the atmosphere?
ZinTyPhoon perhaps they want to Terraform the wastland

Zetan is in fact a reference to the aliens called the "greys". If you believe in alien abductions, most abducties said that these grey aliens are from the star system known as Zeta Reticuli. They are called the Zetans and "the greys" is a nickname due to their grey skin.
i was just going to say this

This is a video about the UFO crash site, not the Zetan alien race. That video would depend upon fully exploring the Mothership Zeta DLC for Fallout 4. I'd love to do that video someday, but right now I am focusing on Fallout 4.
the dlc was from fallout 3... not 4, probably just a typo but thought id point it out to yeah

Zetans isn't a reference to Scientology. It is a reference to "Zeta Reticuli," which in UFO lore is supposedly the homeworld of the Greys.
In the "UFO" game series they're called "Reticulans," for example.
According to legend, astronomers only discovered the star system after finding a map of it in a Pueblos Indian cave painting. In no time the UFO community linked to their beloved Greys and it's so the names have stuck ever since then.
I was thinking the same thing as well, regarding the name choice at least. Glad I'm not the only one!
Von Neely interesting...I'm not a UFO guy, honestly never thought much of it, but your post is on point!
kituwahband: Thanks! Neither am I, but I watched a lot of Cosmos as a kid.
I have no clue where your legend comes from, but to the best of my knowledge, the star map comes from the Betty and Barney Hill abduction case, where Betty, in a hypnosis session, recalled a map of stars that the aliens showed her, and after analyzing it, there was one fit found, with the star the aliens called their home being Zeta Reticuli.
Makes sense for the Fallout universe, given that their culture is stuck at around the same time UFOs became huge in our culture.
I love the fact that we know exactly what we’re watching this video for but your filming presentation makes me feel like I never knew what I’m getting myself into

i like the fact that there are aliens in Fallout
The ship that crashes in FO4 is a sort of atmospheric shuttle and does not have interstellar capabilities. It's been in orbit for the last ten years ( a testament to Zhetan contruction) after you destroyed the mothership that it arrived in during the events of FO3. Having made numerous forays down to Earth for food and water, the pilot's ship eventually started to break down and it's power source was nearly exhausted. The pilot eventually found itself in a desperate situation being forced to crash land on Earth. The pilot barely managed to put the ship down near the closest communication array and "communicator" device it's scans could find. After locating the underground cavern the "communicator" device was in and using the last of it's healing packs to staunch the bleeding caused by the crash, the pilot began to frantically call for help, hoping that against all odds it's signal would be picked up. Having studied the Earth and it's inhabitants for many thousands of years, the pilot was terrified when a barely sentient, furry headed brute entered it's underground shelter and immediately opened fire on it. It's last thoughts were of home, of rolling hills of lavender "grass', silver skies, and the sweet taste of raw fizzlesplatte mouse that kind of resemble tiny versions of what the furry headed apes call Brahmins.
strong says I didn't know metal can fly
I was so used to hearing crashed vertiberd that I was surprised to hear crashed alien spaceship
You can actually make more Blaster rounds through the option of Power>Manufacturing>Machinery>Ammunition Plant. Do remember to go to Misc and attach a storage container to the belts or else the bullet'll fall everywhere.
Edit: I left the Alien alone. He's just panicked and wanted to go home. And if they invade earth? Sole Survivor will always be the godmodded protector of it.
I think zetans doesn't want to invade earth, they probably just interested in nuke incident and with mutants
Maybe the aliens started the Nuclear War by controlling the warheads
That's one of the theories, that the aliens (whom have been around since at least the 1800s to get a samurai) coerced the world into burning with nuclear fire. The non-cannon reason from the cancelled movie is that Vault-tec, becoming more and more paranoid, wound up starting the great war due to their over paranoia. In FO4 though it suggests the Chinese shot first. We might have to go to the wasteland China to see why the fired first.
ZarPof that's not the only reference to China attacking first. fallout 2 I believe, after you reach the enclave oil rig, the president tells you China shot first. that's just lore
Tim church It's not though. There's no way anyone can know what happened first. It was probably propaganda. Not to mention each game small things get retconned so the official stance right now is there is no official stance. Now there's enough evidence to let the player draw whatever conclusion they'd like. They do that on purpose.
Well in part of mothership zeta, the aliens have a laser that shoots at the earth and leaves a nuclear-like explosion. I believe that is what started the war. The aliens shoot at China, then china shoots at the US thinking we shot first
+ZarPof That was informative thank you. Outside the box thinking, I like it.
I'm fairly certain that it happens at a random time around level 20
MissBumblina Yeah, it always happens, like in fallout 3

The Zetans mind was blown when he met me.
An amazing little unmarked quest but it's a damn shame they didn't make a DLC or an extended quest about the Zetans.
Brian Eli I feel like the lore could very easily be fixed in some ways. Making simplistic but fulfilling quests, making new unmarked locations with terminals, or just having dialogue from NPCs and companions.
>aliens launched the nukes
Good job bugthesda
Brian Eli wait..were does it say that they caused the great war?? I played the DLC and never found anything to suggest that.
Quantum yeah I heard the same thing but in all of my playthroughs I ran into the UFO way before I explored that vault. Had one encounter when I was level 10-15 around red rocket.
Brian Eli part of the fun with games and movies is the unknown. Something about intrigues all of us but terrifies us just as well. I completely agree with what you say.
Although there is a lot of evidence about the aliens starting the war, it's hard to say for sure if that's the case or not. Some of the soldiers annoyingly bugged logs do suggest he was being probed for information about launch codes of sometime, it's hard to say if these were the primary nukes or something completely different.
I'd much rather prefer things to stay a mystery because that's part of the fun, it makes the world feel bigger than it is, and it makes you the player think more about your actions and adventures. After all the ultimate goal for a game is to make the player remember those great experiences for as long as possible, to keep you thinking, to make you talk about because you want to. The Zetans did exactly that, and it is a shame that they made a very revealing DLC about them. If they just had more disclosure, maybe more mystery of it all, maybe it could've been a lot better while ruining a good nights rest for us all.
i wish they would do more with the aliens, it really pisses me off that they just threw in a 5 minute encounter
One thing I noticed instantly, that if you sneak up on the alien in the cave, in hidden mode, the alien walks about looking for you using the exact gait of the alien with the blaster in the old QuarkXpress page layout software. "What?" you may say? Its been decades since anyone used QuarkXpress, but if you wanted to delete an object, and rather than just hit delete, you hit Cmd Alt delete (IIRC- Mac), a little alien would walk over to the offending object and zap it with a blaster in similar fashion.

I don't think it is random. I'm pretty sure the crash site appears when you draw close to it and are >= level 20. I've found it in every game I've gone looking for it.
Zetans kind of works with the theme but what doesn't work is there is magic (Dunwich). Magic and aliens just don't seem to fit.
ZarPof It makes everything more bizzare... Almost like the twilight zone, I like it.
Dunwich isn't magic. It's a Lovecraft reference.
Yes same although sometimes it appears for me at lvl 15
using a couple theories like the multiverse theory, its not too convoluted to say that an ancient presence that has achieved the ability to reproduce its genetic makeup has the ability to connect to our universe using certain elemental compositions, which may have been accidentally created in the statue knowing the pre-war fallout companies might not care about perfectly splitting elements away from each other or storing similar elements in different vats. what the statue would be doing there in the first place, however, is beyond me.
this is of course just trying to give reason to reference, as it is of course a Lovecraft reference.
When I entered the cave the radio beside the alien was playing a song "Space is cool" by markiplier(beacuse of a mod) and I suddenly felt a sense of guilt. All this this alien wanted to do was listen to markiplier and I killed him.
0:00 "Did you hear that?" Yeah Vault-tec was calling.

I was fighting a raider settlement so when I heard it I thought I was doomed
Man, Zetans just suck at driving.
The alien might have been in an escape pod from the mothership. Just a theory.
Triston Campbell maybe, but I don’t think so because I think fallout 4 is supposedly a decade or so after the events of fallout 3
After fallout 3 by a long shot like how McCready is now an adult

A GAME THEORY!!!!!!!!!!!
One wonders if the Zetans had anything to do with the outbreak of WW3. We know from "Mothership Zeta" that they've been observing Earth for centuries.
Actually they did, if you play mother ship zeta, fo3's dlc, you'll find some interrogation recordings the Zetans made of their abductees, One of them was where they were asking a military personnel specifically for nuclear launch codes, and I found another entry where it hinted they planned on using them and the time stated on that recording was closer to the time when the first bombs fell, so its is hinted that the Zetans might have made the first strike but even if they didn't, nuclear annihilation would still have happened.
There's a few possibilities, they do hint the Aliens had a hand in it. From the non-cannon canceled movie it was Vault-tec's over paranoia that caused Vault-tec to basically pressure the US into starting it, basically letting their own fears cause what they dreaded. In FO4 there is some entries that hint that the Chinese launched first.
ZarPof Actually the chineses did strike first, while i dont remember the exact time, the chinese bombs fell around 9:15 am and a few minutes later the us launches its nukes in retaliation. I read it at the wiki and im not sure since its been a while but i think mr house from fonv also mentions that the bombs were first struck by the chinese as his prep time was cut short.
Hamza Chodhry And in one of the Railroad missions terminals suggest it. But it is not CONFIRMED that that is what happened. Perhaps the US launched first it's just that all the tech was set up to look at China not America. It hasn't been said in black and white what truly happened.
True very true, but also the zombies might have been an alternate dimension but seen in the dream of the girl
From my experience this is actually scripted, and happens somewhere around level 20.
No it is not. I am level in one of my characters 100 and he never spawned.
I started a second play-through and I was playing the part where Struges asks you to build defenses in Sanctuary. I was in front of the "Welcome to Sanctuary" sign' right before the bridge and that's when I heard the crash sequence. It's strange because I don't think I ever experienced this on my first play-through which has existed in my saves for about a year now.
ja it is scripted, I’ve had over 10 saves on my game and EVERY single time the ship crashes. It happens at around level 20. It’ll happen at different times depending on where you are. Sometime it happens when your just walking and hit level 20. It usually happens a lot for me after I kill Kellogg and step outside to see the Prydwen arrive.
I think its level 14
Im level 30. It just requires you to be in the area. Chill guys.
Could you pacify the alien?
Yes you can. I tried but failed but it says on the wikia that if you have the pacify perk, there is a small chance you could pacify the alien.

The encounter is triggered when you reach level 20, though in my experience, the ship likes to crash when you're in the heat of battle, so if you have something else going on, it can be easy to miss.
Really? in almost all my playthroughs i get the ship crass landing after the i complete the quest were you save nick valentine once you get out of the area and when i don't get it there i always get it and the end of a main story quest or when settlment building!

There are a few in the Glowing sea, yes. One of the bunkers, it kind of hits at the government knowing about the aliens. But truthfully, it's only a couple dozen. Not a combat load or anything.
There are absolutely none in the glowing sea whatsoever. Complete lie. Only present via mods or console commands.
I always got that event about level 20. Just crossing the bridge after leveling up leaving sanctuary, after clearing out a hospital going east of sanctuary, and after doing the first brotherhood quest and the airship comes are the times I remember specifically.
You even mentioned the Hubologists, who give you more Alien Blaster Rounds, and then said that the rounds on the dead alien are the only ones you ever get :/
AJ Universe without Dlc you don't get any more
Every once in awhile, dead hubologist bodies have ammo on her. So just go back there in a few days and you get more ammo.
THE HUBOLOGISTS ARE ALIENS1
2:18 in otherwords use it as an emergency people
actually you can upgrade the gun to take cells cores
shay thompson fusion CELLS idiot
ah yes, my mistake, simple slip up, quite a brash way to respond though. Was that really warranted?
*Cough cough* cheat room *cough cough* unlimited ammo *cough cough*
JAJAJAJAJAJAJAJ KKKKKKKKK KKK SO FUNNY I'M BRAZIL
I know I’m late to the party and people have already said this but I actually found out (before seeing it online) that the alien is so damaged that it won’t attack you, it’s eyes are shut from swelling and/or burns so it just hears something there and tries to shoot it
I hope they will make Mods an invasion of the aliens in Fallout
I love the Zetan's in the Fallout universe. Hope they put them in Fallout 5.
I love nick valintines reaction to the UFO flying by "good god did you catch the plates on that one?" 😂
Another wasted opportunity to make a decent story DLC...
Pedro Portela they already did! Stop hating fallout 4 and bethesda! They're doing the best they can!
Then everyone will say "Whaaaa Whaaaaa they are lazy and ripped the Mothership Zeta DLC from Fallout 3 Whaaaa Whaaaa, I like to suck Obsidians dick."
What??? Hell no, who would want to pay to add aliens to the game?
Jokes on you. There's no Fallout V. There's Fallout 76! HA!
But fallout 76 is the is the six game in the series making fallout five the seventh
I feel like after you find the ship you should get captured and taken to the mothership and fight one of the hardest bosses in the game
The more content the better. Glad they brought the "Zetans" back. I had a really hard, but fun time playing them in Fallout 3.
do proctor Ingram (attempt 2)
Thanks, I have her on my list of content to do
THANK YOU!!!
Could you do one on The Mechanist's Lair?
Is it morally right to save Isabel Cruz?
Kell Kello she sends you on quests to destroy robots, which I use to farm fusion cells
Kell Kello thats easy, she didnt know that she was killing people, her intentions were to help and giving people another chance is morally eight
Kell Kello Depends on your morals, which are entirely subjective.
WNKRZ and you can farm robot parts so you don't have to waste alot of materials
I've never been 1 to use a weapons workbench all that much but that upgraded alien pistol is awesome, especially if I can get it to use an ammo i can actually get more of
“The alien immediately becomes hostile and begins to attack you. You have no choice but to defend yourself.”
*Begins beating space boy to death with customized stick*
Is this a mod? Cause I’ve never seen it happen to me....
Btw I’m level 42 and people say you find it around level 20, so what do I do to find it?
I'ts not a mod,but maybe the ship fall but you don't have heard that
Its east of oberland station.
I theorize the mothership from Mothership Zeta that you leave the dudes in charge of are still up their and are probably the ones who shot that ship down
I think aliens are important in the fallout universe, as i believe it was the Zetans who started the great war.
But why though I mean sure they may have done it to see what would happen but they then wouldn’t have anymore subjects if the human population was destroyed and I highly doubt they can subdue a death claw
nathan herron i actually have a little bit of evidence to back up your theory. In mothership zeta, one of the dlcs in fallout 3, i found general chases coat, along with a holotape of his interogation. Now, this was during anchorage, which means the general at the time, chase, might have had the nuclear codes. I dont remember if there was a copy of the codes with the coat, but im fairly sure he would have had the codes, and since the zetans probably broke chase, he probably would have given up the codes, thus the zetans could have launched the icbm's, causing the great war. Now, this is all speculation, but along with the presence of anchorage soldier medics, this, TO ME, points to the possibility that the aliens were the cause of the great war. But, i might be wrong.
I have a mod that makes it so you can craft ammo including alien ammo
Ammo crafting was one of the best things in new vegas. And not OP at all because materials were rare and it helps with immersion like you're really in a waste land. You're a wasteland survivor. Starting out its better to have one rusty gun and only a handful of catridges. Find some powder primers and salvage some lead and you can reload a few of them.
i got so excited when i saw the ufo crashed because i watched the mothership zeta
it got so excited in fact that i put all my stuff away in boxes and went to the crashed ship just to not get beamed up and remembered “fallout 3” and “mothership zeta DLC”
I love how there’s loads of comments from one year ago saying “thanks for helping me find this” and “oh that’s what that was?!” When I figured this out literally 3 years ago. Why are people only discovering this now ahaha.
Great as usual! I haven't yet found this happen I my play throughs, but maybe... >.> Now that I'm back in shape to be able to comment, I'll get back to that, sorry for not being active in comments the past few days! :)
Thanks for posting, and happy New Year!
it happens when you reach a certain level
+Patti Hall as in exp. level
It's a level 20 random encounter. It's supposed to automatically trigger when you load the commonwealth after being level 20.
Do a pre war video of the glowing sea.
Victor Acevedo there is none dumbo there is no point
actually the alien comes at level twenty
Actually, "Zetan" is a reference to the real-life "Grey" aliens often reported in UFO sightings and alien abduction cases.
According to the Betty & Barney Hill abduction case, the aliens showed Betty a star-map when she asked them where they came from, and although at the time there was no match known, it has subsequently been identified to match the Zeta Reticuli star system.
Hence, "Greys" are sometimes referred to as "Zetas" or "Zetans".
ayy lmao
ayy lmao
Hexa Dex even if it's a dead meme it doesn't get old
old but gold
Lil mayo!!
Carlos Yanes yes
This whole encounter is done so well and demonstrates why Fallout is so good. Hopefully next time they mix it up a bit and give us something different, like another species .
It’d be interesting for a Fallout spinoff game to be based in Roswell, New Mexico so that we can learn more about how these guys have impacted the Fallout universe, but I doubt that game would ever be made. It’d probably take the intrigue and mystery behind the aliens away.
I know this is a late response, but the Zetan encounter is not a random event. It's a Level Linked Event, which triggers at Level 20.
I have had it happen in all of my literal hundreds of playthroughs. It's a guaranteed encounter once you reach a certain level. I also like to believe the ship was shot down by the mothership crewed by Sally and co. from fallout 3
Also, fun fact: The alien blaster is one of the many (MANY!) weapons in the game that has the "NPC'sconsumeammo" flag set to "no." That is to say, if you give it and just one round of its ammo, to any NPC you're allowed to trade gear with, that NPC can fire the alien blaster endlessly without ever running out of ammo.
The appearance of the alien ship is completely random throughout the game, meaning that if you're lucky you can get it as soon as you start, or even after the game ends. Its completely random but it is confirmed spawn with each character save.
