Q&A with Andrew Garfield following a screening of "tick, tick...BOOM!"(2021).
Remaking the early 1990s musical by and about Jonathon Larson into a feature film was no easy feat, but the apparently limitless talent of Lin-Manuel Miranda is brilliantly sufficient. Anchored by Andrew Garfield’s can’t-look-away performance as Larson, with a breakout turn by Robin de Jesús and featuring an array of musical theater luminaries (including Stephen Sondheim, in spirit), the film reminds us that New York is truly the concrete jungle where dreams are made.
The way Andrew speaks about things is an undescribable description. His brain just works in WONDROUS ways and he can really get you thinking and wondering about whatever topic is being discussed. He never fails to amaze me with what he can conjure up with next. For example, when he was sharing what he thought about the vertical line thing, I was shook. It's just amazing that a human can think of things way beyond the human mind, body, and soul. Andrew always thinks deep about things. With Andrew, it's never just a bland and simple sentence. It's a whole paragraph of poetry about the planet we live on and that's what I love about him.
I'm sorry for the long paragraph but I also have to add that he doesn't only do this with his words, he does this with his acting. He digs very deep in every character and really plays the role. He also doesn't just act to act. He acts because he's knows that he has a talent and a way to get a message out there. Andrew is just overall amazing and literally just a UNREAL being who somehow ended up on earth with us.

Very deep response, and extremely accurate. ❤️💯
He’s definitely a beautiful man, in more ways than one. You accurately described him!💖
Exactly👌🏼
So true! He’s one of my favorites. I love watching him work. I also love how he goes beyond then just to answer the question like you said and never apologizes for it! Some would apologize for giving long answers or talking a lot but not Andrew. He teaches me a lot. What a deep inspiration he is. God bless him.
loved the interviewer!!! finally someone asked different and interesting questions.
Give him an Oscar!
@Jasmine Murray well, like Jonathan Larson in "tick tick BOOM" he will move to the next movie, and then to the next one. This is the life.
What an inspiring man. Great interview, specially the part about self-care at the end.
i absolutely love interviews like this where andrew is just talking about tick tick boom and answering all the worlds questions, even if he somehow not know an answer, he doesn’t just say “oh actually i’m not sure” he says something like “well i’m not sure but,” and continues on talking about something relative. he never fails to impress me when displaying his work and it’s always so nice to see what he does next and how he discusses it.
I think this is one of my favourite interviews with him, I love how he could speak freely and love how poeticly he speak out is so inspiring.
I keep thinking about this conversation, the concept of verticality and complicated gold, and also Andrew's comments on parents and mentors.
When hes speaking abt him being Jonathan's light and how he was being controlled by him. It just reminds me of the line 'build it and they will come'
Wonderful interview ❤️
