Hi! I know this migt be too much to ask but i would love more in depth and longer videos from you. I think this is tooo interesting to be short/reels/tik tok-type video. But anyway, thankyou! Youre def one of my fav content creator
They need to just close off the soda machines for deep cleaning every day and not sell any product. But they won't, since thats cutting into their profits. They'd rather sell you dirty soda/water than do the basic requirements of cleaning the machines.
@@NigelThornbery I work in fast food at taco bell. We clean the dispensers pretty often, but not actually turn them off and deep clean everything. Its basically putting a band-aid on an open wound. Its disgusting, the level of work required to keep these things clean is something we don't have time for.
None microbiologist here, could you explain why the sweet scent was a hint? I love learning new things, especially very unusual stuff that not many people would know about, like why a particular bacteria colony smells sweet
Used to work at a Taco Bell location in Waxhaw, NC. All of the soft drinks from this location tasted off, almost like mildew. I told my wife not to get drinks from there, but one time she forgot and brought home two drinks anyways. Curious, I left them sitting for a few days to see if anything might settle out of the soda. After a few days, there were clusters of dark rings growing all over the insides of the cups. After removing the soda, I noticed that the cups smelled sweet and earthy. Almost the way you'd expect moldy soda to smell. I refused to drink any of the beverages from there from that point forward. I have since relocated to a new area, but I'm fairly certain this location is still experiencing this issue.
Unfortunately, the terms and conditions I signed with this specific PCR company I used doesn’t allow for me to say in this case. That is why I probably won’t be using them again.
Cool video, very informative, and I'd love to watch more, but you need to drop that soundtrack or really lower the volume. It takes the credibility away and makes the video seem cheesy. Keep up the good work nonetheless!

I wouldn’t say it has to do with profits. I’d say it’s more like poor management, not following correct cleaning protocols.

@@draconian5414 the bacteria pseudomonas is known in the micro world for producing a sweet smell. Some think it smells like grapes.
Can you make some longer videos that are going more in-depth talking about what we are looking at? That would be much appreciated :)
i'd like to see those too.
Yeah for sure. I am currently expanding my work onto the RUclips platform and plan on doing longer format videos. Keep an eye out for them.

Looks like you were using TSA as your growth medium, colonies look consistent with pseudomonas. Where did you send that water sample for PCR?

@@whatmightgrow That makes sense. But either way good video Tim! creepy background music was probably a bit much though.
