Keep at it man, i love the low key down to earth content. Seems like every youtuber has a 1000 hp (insert supercar) and seeing cars and builds I (we) can actually afford is refreshing
Those little silver things on the Mercedes quarter panels are actually an early version of a parking sensor. Before backup cameras and sensors were a thing, Mercedes put these on their cars and what they would do is when you would back up, as you got closer to something, these would pop out to tell the driver that they are getting close to something behind them. Really cool piece of technology Mercedes had back then and interesting little quirk.
I think they are indestructible in a vacuum. The prospects of surviving a road accident with something modern are not that good in one of these anymore.

great video bro love these longer vids. I feel like trying to mess with one of the newer cars would be an absolute nightmare, but that Volvo was really solid.
appreciate the kind words. I feel you there. The future of car tech can be intimidating. But those old Volvos are painfully simple. Greats car in general
I love the change between shorts and then a longer video after a while from all the cars I think the v12 Mercedes’ is worth saving I also like the mustang but I def think the Mercedes is best worth fixing
I wouldn’t be able to restrain myself to leave the guitar case in the Honda unopen! That’s a myth about the bulletproof glass on the Mercedes Benz, although it is double glazed to make the car quieter inside!
BRAVO MY FRIEND I love it that you went to the car auction and start cars. Thank you for taking the time to explain things about the different vehicles
Hey man, new subscriber to your channel great video. As a 240 owner I was bloody amazed at the lack of rust on that one. Also having owned a V12 I can vouch their pretty daunting but I'd totally have that SEL 😍.
The pieces of metal on the back of the S600 Coupe are parking poles, they deploy when you reverse to allow you to see where the rear of the car is and not hit anything
On the key not detected issues There's usually a spot where you hold the key fob on the column or hit the start button with the fob. That's if the key battery dies.
My former mother in law drove one, and within the family it was called The Tank. I am not sure if that had something to do with the circumstances that occurred when she drove it into the village. It was said that where ever she steered her 240, any other traffic would dash away as soon as she came in sight... 😂
Love your content, I had a similar idea for a channel but never got it off the ground. Glad to see you picking up a lot of views! PS I noticed you don't seem to check tire date codes (on camera at least), but they can help a lot in determining how well kept/recently driven a car is.
9:25 those are there to help you park the car, because if you put the car in reverse, they go up and you can see where the back of the car is (correct me if I am wrong)
You are correct, they pop up when you shift in reverse so you can approximately know where the car ends because it's pretty long. It was like a thing before parking sensors
I think it would be hilarious to make that front of the Silvia FWD, slap an engine way too powerful into it, and just have that. What would be the point of owning that? I have no clue
Bro we love these kind of videos, please make a full length video of restoration and show before and after shot of vehicle, please take the videos of @brotomotive channel as reference, shoot and edit as these people and your channel would be off the charts , see yaa
22:22 My old Pontiac Grand Prix had these vents too. I don't think it would be to get air in with the visor closed because at least on mine the visor wouldn't close unless the sunroof was closed. Still very weird
I believe those might be diplomatic flag mounts on the rear of the Merc, you should check if it has bulletproof windows too lol Edit: holy shit it does, I wonder what the Carfax on this thing looks like
They're indicators for parking, when you put the car in reverse they get up and you can see the corners of the car in your side mirrors. They're like the first version of the parking sensors :))
@@roudass9284 you’re right. They were later replaced with “real” parking sensors. The “antennas” gives you a situational awareness of where the car “ends” and it makes it easier to park without damaging the car
How did you start working at a vehicle auction lot? I'd love to get into cars, but I don't know where to start, I don't even have a proper garage currently,
Question, I want to get into buying auction cars to fix up and sell or add to my collection, but I can’t seem to find any lot auctions like the one that you go to. Other than one that has piles of yelp reviews about employees “bidding” on cars to not let them go for low prices. How does one find an auction site like the one you visit?
Just a question. Are you a dealer of any type, or do you buy cars for yourself. Also you a mechanic and if you did you get and professional schooling of any type. I've been trying to become a mechanic and get a career in cars for a while now and just want to know what path to take.
I just buy cars for myself. There was a point in time where I flipped cars, but that was ages ago. But I’ve been tinkering with cars almost all of my life. I was fortunate enough to have a dad that was a mechanic and he influenced me tremendously. I learned through that and just buying old junky cars (as you can see). Thats exciting that you want to get into cars though! I believe going to a technical school would be the more traditional path if you want to work as a full time mechanic. But I would suggest maybe testing the waters by working on your own car first to see if its something you would love to do everyday. There will be stark difference between working on your own cars vs other people’s cars. Just something to consider. Hope this helps.

For fords there's a slot in the center console to put the key when the battery dies in the key dies out so the can still detect the key

The little antenas on the back of the S600 are supposed to be the first ever rear breaking censors.
wish I knew earlier or I would've gave them a try

The Volvo and the Subaru.
